Preach Brother Preach!

Preach Brother Preach!

...the thrill of being drafted into the Army or Marines at age 18....:whee:

I was talking with a bunch of 20-somethings at a function, everyone of them were chickenhawks to a man. All were willing to fight to the last in Iraq and Afghanistan, not a one of them was a Vet or had any intention of enlisting but were willing to have some poor fuck without a good job or education do their fighting. I got all bent out of shape. Republicans to a man. Lil'Dick Cheney & Georgie W. draft dodgers. Sorry y'll I still carry my vietnam vet grunt's bad attitude. When people do you bad you don't want it to be carried on to the next GI's. Somebody has to stand up for them. For all you chicken hawks :moon:

I'm afraid they won't know what "Work Ethic" is

Well where I live there is a recession and youth unemployment is at a record high. I think hard work is one of the few ways to survive. I know for a fact that my parents had it easier. I've applied for more jobs in a year than they have in their life. Minimum wage jobs get hundreds of applications...

Maybe machines will make some jobs easier but the hardest worker will always go far.

lol to late for most on this one .. just like the respect for elders.. gone in the wind

Respect is a 2 way street and a lot of people have no respect regardless of generation. You think people respect someone who patronises them?

Sorry for getting heavy...

Next generation

- won't know what it's like to not have almost any fact at your fingertips, smart phones and wikipedia
- won't be religious (in the west)
- won't know what anonymity is and will have their identity plastered all over the internet

What it is like to settle a dispute with fists and an ass whooping instead of shooting and stabbing...

Thats great as long as you're the biggest baddest person. I prefer an equalizer. Of course I would never pull my gun out unless I was physically threatened.

Biggest and baddest has nothing to do with it. I think you just might be the type of person Grass Lands is talking about.

They will never know the Peace, Love and Brotherhood that was so evident in the hippies; The Woodstock generation. That's sad really.

What wearing brown corduroys and itchy woollen jumpers is like.

Being made to do something you don't want to do by your parents just doesn't happen anymore, not without some kind of bribe anyway.
