Here we go again, after the first test of the cab you find here, https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=222657
I will try a vertical run to dial in some strains . When I read around i have found that I need to dial in a genetic a minimum of 3 times and preferably from clones. I want to try doing it from seeds, we'll see how it goes, documenting along the way.

the cab
14dx14wx28h

veg setup :4x30watt @4000k , total 120watt

flo setup :2x30watt@2700k overhead, 1x45watt @4000k and 1x 26watt UVB cfl @5700k,vertical, total 131watt

veg is done in small 0,2gallon pots, light mix of compost ( household organic waist and peat and for drainage perlite/expanded clay pellets ,about 20%

day 1 from seed

The strains from left to right
3x Kalichakra/Mandala#1
3xSam the Skunkan freebies
3xC99BX1
5x C99BX1/Sam the Skunkan freebiesXMandala#1

fertilizers to be used
Biobizz fishmix,biogrow,bioheaven,alg a mix and bio bloom,supertrive .

the soil after transplant: 4,2 gallon container
40% Own organic compost ( horse manure, organic household waste, peat ) 40% professional organic soil ( cow and chicken manure, kelp powder, sand, clay and peat) 1 ts ( table spoon ) bone meal, 1 ts epson salt,1 ts egg shells powder,1 ts ashes , 20% expanded clay pellets. I am here to learn and share, critique, suggestions and questions are welcome as i need some help on the way.

As for filling the vert screen it is strain dependant (how much stretch occurs), but as a general rule of thumb for most indica/indica dom hybrids veg until 2/3-3/4 of the screen is full. If running something more satvia heavy filling 1/2 the screen before flip is a good starting place. As you already know clones are recommended for this reason (better predictability). However it can certainly be done with seeds. Just a bit more work, and less yield potential as you won't maximize every inch of your grow space. if possible I would center the two horzontial bulbs on either side of the vertical for better light distribtution. I'm sure some more of us vert nuts will be along shortly to toss in their two cents.

Vertical CFL, nice! I'll take a seat here...

I'm not sure how different CFL will be from HPS (well, I know it'll be different, but to what degree...), I let my screens get about 80% full before switching to 12/12 and 2 weeks later (I think?) only one of three has outgrown the screen, the other two are looking like they'll end up filling it perfectly. Guess you'll have to try and see! Good luck though, I'm a former CFL grower and since learning about vertical growing I've wondered what it would be like to do vert with CFL's.... now I'll get to see!

hello my friend, the dark side it is,bit scared:laughing: but vertical is a very interesting way to grow , should be perfect with my cfl setup. 1 vertical bulb is centered, 1 is centered close to the back because i have a dark zone back there. However they are easy to move around. The challenge is the number of the seedling atm, i will take away some of them less vigorous if space becomes a problem during veg.:thank you:for stopping by buddy

you are welcome JustDoIt, my 130 watt cfl has the same lumens as a 70 watt hps, should be ok for my little space. The callange is that i have regular seeds :thank you:for the info .

day 6 from seed

temp 80
lights 24/0
RH 51%
picture.php

Feeding started from day 4 , 6 ml fishmix and 6 ml alg a mix X U.S. gallon @ every watering. I know the dry weight of the pots, no guessing when to feed, They are sharing 8,5 fluid oz between the 14 of them atm

picture.php

My home made Humidifier :dance013:, raises my rh by 20% and is using about 33 fluid oz of water every day. I took this picture after the daily refill , notice the paper napkins sucking up the water. I have the fan centered under the paper napkins.

Now thats crafty :good: Might consider a ml or two of hydrogen peroxide added to the water to keep mold, alge, bad bacteria at bay.

I'll follow this thread with very close attention; I'd like to build a cabinet like yours so I hope you don't mind if I use your work as a test for my future plans :)

p.s. Your horizontal grow has inspired me to try my first micro :)
