Airpots RTA System Grow.

:) nice one mate glad you sorted it

ive layed out my danish trays and they take up too much valuable space so in a month or two i shall be getting the 12 pot system like i planned to do in the first place lol

peace:tiphat:

Hold fire on the system mate at the mo lol as it uses an MJ100 pump that's fitted to the exit pipe at the bottom of the bucket and when the bucket fills to about 2" high it activates the pump, now the pump works well at that depth but as soon as it falls about an inch below 2" then the pump does not suck the water up any more, it just gurgles as running dry. I thought I resolved the issue by twisting the pump so the intake was at the bottom but only resolved it until the next watering? I think its either the wrong pump for the job as does not like low water levels, or they could have done with raising the whole system so that it could fill to a higher level and always maintain 2" water in the base so the pump always worked. I am now looking at either adapting it or asking the shop what they think.

Glad to hear you got it sorted bro :)

Lol as above only sorted for a short period :(

He he lol :bump:

lol here you go mate, these measurements are from the floor to the base of the airpot.
10 litres 5.5cm
15 litres 7.cm
20 litres 8.5cm

Here are some pics a week on lights out as just been sprayed with Bayers Multirose.

lol ive got 11 cm wrong choice for me

sounds like the float switch is too low mate or its upside down or theve wired the switch wrong is it poss for you to post a pic of the float switch inside the bucket

or try this im guessing its not an optical one so yours is black iirc

your float should look like this coming out of bucket --\ sort of lol water fills up,switch goes straight and pump turns on

if you can turn the switch slightly instead of it pointing down 90 degrees (when off) to the bottom have it coming off at 45 degrees

that should turn pump off before it starts sucking air in

hth mate they really are simple bits of kit so im tipping the float switch is far too low but that should fix the prob

peace

Had to put the pea sticks in today to support what are going to be "fookin massive" colas lol I hope :) Will post pics on the 2nd Jan as they are "taking off" lol in the "Airpots" excuse the pun. But the big Psycho D is drinking loads so will need to increase the drip feeds :) And have sorted the pump now :)

Could'nt wait until 2nd January so here are pics 1 week later.

Could'nt wait until 2nd January so here are pics 1 week later.

I am always in a state of shock when I open the grow room door each day, at how much these ladies are growing over night :noway: Over my years of growing in square pots and solid side wall pots etc and seeing my plants daily, I have always been impressed at the growth rate of some strains, but the Airpots win hands down.
The things I notice most is how thick and fast the main stem becomes, and how fat and bushy with multiple colas.
In the pics you can see that I have put sticks in a few for support and had to move the large Psycho D again to the other back corner, due to the bushiness of it lol, in these pics I have removed lots of lower branching and leaves to allow air movement through them.
I have also included som close ups of the walls of the pots so you can see the roots penetrating, then "Air pruning".
The lady on the left front in a pic of its own the "Pynamite" is developing a right thick main stem:dance013::dance013:
On with the pics :tiphat::ying::ying:

Wicked. So you like the rta system then? I get concerned about how all the water is drained away?

I def think smart pots are wicked. They do all the airpots do but with out the negatives of the hive effect and rapid drying. You should do a comparison next run, some in air pots and some in smarts.

Next you need the gavita pro 1000 dimmer. New year an all that. As a gadget lover you owe it to your self and your ladies. Lol.

Hey herbs my friend, I might look those smart pots up, I have not seen to much about them, but yeah can do a side by side grow I reckon, but I just need to crack on with designing modular SCROG screens for these Airpots and I think I have a great idea ;)

Lol one day I might just own a Gavita pro 1000 dimmer mate, but for now I will leave them to the pro's to show what can be done with them, to prove they are worth the extra ££. I am always visiting your great diary herbs, great job :tiphat::ying::ying:

I'll get you couple smart pots to try out.

I'll keep an eye out fr your mod scrog design. I think I am going to put my smart pots into an other larger plastic pot and attach my frames to them. Only doing 6 plants so shoud be quite simple.

Yeah the gavita pro 1000s are a bit pricey but less than say an adjstawatt 1000 and xxxl hood.

Week 3 Update

Week 3 Update

Well increased drip times to 4 times per day 2 mins per time, thats another advantage to these airpots is you can see how moist the coco is at different levels, and the Psycho D is a thirsty lady.

I will now compare the pics as its been 5 days since last update and I am curios to see what the difference is :) The Killer Queen is looking amazing as always, but the Pynamite and Psycho D are the most vigorous so far, I am sure the Pynamite is going to be a beast looking at the thickness of her trunk and stems. :tiphat::ying::ying:

Cheers Shhh my friend :tiphat::ying:

I would be a lot happier if the fooking brain bucket had not started to fook up again last night :( I came into our room at 11.30pm and it was running and burbling up there, so I went and had a look as the last drip time was 7pm so run off would have been from 7pm to 7.15pm, which means its been running since then to 11.30 dry :) I am going to put some tape in the bucket at the depth t struggles with and take the brain bucket back today, and try a replacement as I have tried everything.
I cannot see it being the brain though, I think its either the pump is not right for the job, or they need to increase the level of the float switch, so more water settles in the bottom to stop pump running dry. I will report back as the idea of the system is great, its just got teething problems lol.

hi mate bummer on the brain eh its definately because that float is too low if there all same in shop ask for an undrilled bucket and drill em yourself mate you need at least 2cm of water left in the bottom

hope they get it sorted as i want one
