The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

My take on Hempy is all described quite brilliantly in the first post Intro and Quote. Run that exact rig in a properly controlled grow environment before messing with the Hempy design. You will thank yourself in the long run. IMHO if you are having problems with the Hempy check your environment, then read the manual again.

I haven't seen many folks using Fox Farms Hydro nutes with hempy buckets. Any reason for this? What are folks experiences (good or bad) using FFHN in hempy buckets?

Also, if perlite doesn't wick moisture what is the purpose of the res in the bottom?

...drainage hole 1.5 inchs from the bottom, with perlite up to that hole and the rest straight coco.

Peace, SOG

Perlite wicks fine. When your plants roots hit the res at the bottom then you'll know what the res is for. Constant feed source, it's like foie gras.

I just wanted to start by admitting newb status, and i am only hear for help not to show anything off. I am a first time grower a little over a month into my grow. Due to financial, and mostly security purposes, i am restricted to a very small grow environment. I was given the link to this thread when i was first starting my seedlings by SomeOtherGuy, and thank you very much to him. I adapted the method and used it as a guideline for my own grow. I love the fact that there are other, more experieced growers on this thread that partake in micro grows. There isn't a hempy thread in the micro forum so i came here looking for help. I just recently switched to FloraNova bloom for my nutrients and am looking for some help. If anyone would like to look at my thread and let me know what you'd think, i appreciate it a great deal. I dont want to be disrespectful and post about my "non traditional" hempies on the hempy thread. Thanks in advance

High man, I think I speak for most when I say 'post away', ...for real man, post up what you have so folks can offer opinions, ...and don't sweat that some of those opinions might not be complimentary, most will be honest and be delivered in the spirit of sharing that defines us.

Peace, SOG

Let's be clear. As long as posts are polite, on topic and inside the rules, members are free, in fact encouraged, to post any theory they desire no matter how "non-traditional". Debate dragged us out of the cave.

Sure you'll take a cheap shot or two (welcome to the internet) But most folks that respond do so because they remember being you and wishing they had a place like IC.

thanks a lot SOG and FreezerBoy, good to know that theres still people on here that are here for newbs like myself! Just love the plant so much! it amazes me more and more daily

I don't think there is anyone here that wants to see bad things happen to anybody's plants..this is a great community. You'll find what you're looking for...man I hate the term newb lol.

i hate it too, i always thought this was a happy place until that last little scuffle, good to know i was right. I shall from here on out refer to myself as a grower in training lol...and all of you are my trainers..and hopefully after a few go arounds ill be able to start helping some other people out

I'm sorry I mis read your question. I think the closest to that ratio that I can think of is thefalsediviner..I think he used a 50/50 mix once if I remember correctly. It should be in the coco hempy thread

I just remember getting on ICMAG about three years ago, and about the same time, I saw these videos on youtube by a Mr. Green- he was really green!

And it inspired me, but reading THIS thread was a complete game-changer. I suddenly saw through all the hydroponics pumps, tubes, reservoirs, hype, etc. and realized what hydroponics really is. It's a bucket, with a hole drilled in the side about two inches up.

Haha, thank you Universe, for sending me this divine knowledge.
Peace and love and all that good shit!

@ptb-why would you want to run with only 25% coco? I have just about 0% experience with coco so help a brother out....how would, or how do you think, running with 25% coco would effect feeding schedule? Do you think you'd have to run coco specific nutrients? Sorry for all the questions, but if you're on to something that could make things explode I want to hear about it. Peace & good luck.

well ive been in coco for a while and hate the salt buildup and everything that goes with it.... ive never had the system setup for it i guess... however i recently changed to hempies running 25% vermiculite... but it is like sand and makes drainage like shit just wondering if coco would be better....

why not just use coco on top and perlite in the res. it's the only part really that "needs" to have perlite in it. the rest can be whatever you want including coco.
