Coco nutrients etc..

Hi guys. I had an hard-time with growing in an AG before nd I wanted to move into coco, seems pretty reliable.

I've buying all sort of things lately, I want to make sure that I have everything I am going to need because I live in Asia which means my plant may go wrong while I am waiting on eBay and i don't really want that happen again.

I know there is variety of nutrients are available. Right now, I have GH Bloom/Micro and going to get a Botanicare Calmag for seedling to end of veg stage( lucas formula). And then when it's ready to flower I am going to buy a bat guano or Koolbloom or something to boost it up. On the other hand, I am going to aim 150W Cfls 2:1 ratio of blue nd red spectrum.

Starting with 5 Gal bucket. But I was thinking that, bigger pot could cause problem for smell plant? and i haven't really saw a person starting their plant into 5 gal (I mean seedling to first few weeks). People usually starts with 1 or 2 gal and when the root is fully shown then they change to 5 gal?, need some help on this please.

Is there any thing will i be going to need besides Calmag nd GH bloom/Mirco during the whole veg stage?.

Thanks !!

You can use just Micro and Bloom for 100% of the growth, vegetative and flowering.

I use 6 mL micro and 9 mL bloom per gallon during flowering, I add MagiCal (a Cal Mag substitute) for the first few weeks of bloom then just the micro/bloom to finish it off.

Most people don't start seedlings in a 5 gallon bucket because the coco would stay soggy for days if not weeks at that stage. It can be done, however starting in a smaller pot so you can keep the coco wet but not too wet is much easier on the roots and will get you better growth in my experience.

you don't need to go and buy a whole bunch of stuff really. The easier the better.

yeah transplant it into a 16oz plastic cup ,make sure to cut drainage holes in the bottom . let it grow its roots for a couple weeks . then transplant into a 1 gallon for your veg period & then about a week before flowering you can go to a 3 or 5 gallon bucket . imho you don't need a 5 gallon bucket to grow big plants in , the biggest i use are 2 gallon & i grow 4' bushes in them easily . you do need to water a smaller bucket more often but i feel that with coco its better to feed more often than not . but thats just me , coco is a very easy medium to work with , you can treat it like soil ( big buckets fed every few days ) or like hydro ( smaller bucket fed everyday to multiple times a day ) . the choise is yours my friend & i'm sure you'll do fine no matter which way you choose . :)

also use some type of root innoculant ... i like cannas rhizotonic but there are others like maxicrop or roots excellerator etc.... believe me with coco's good root airation & a root stimulator ... your plants will explode & be twice as healthy .

I wouldn't use 5 gallon, thats way to much coco especially for CFLS, transplant into 2 gal or so pots.

yeah after you take your seedling out , just keep the extra coco in the 5 gallon moist till you need it again . you can keep it in that same bucket with a top or put it into a rubbermade tote with a top . i'd do the rubbermade cuz i still think 5 gallons of coco is too much in a bucket . yes you can do 2 transplants . from the cup to 2 gallon & you should be fine , just don't over water when transplanting . transplant it into your 2 gallon saturate the soil once & let it dry for a couple days so the roots can grow out .

hempys are the shit man !!!! if your interested theres a thread about it by Hempy himself ,
here it is ..... https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=98419
and the coco hempy thread .......https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=147954

roger that, found a couple nice 16oz cups but i'll have to get some smaller buckets or hempys maybe, thanks dans, and check out my thread. maybe you have some other pointers.....
