Who Dat's 1k Round 2 - Fall/Winter 2011

I've already jumped right into a round two. For those that never saw my first round here's the link, https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=216629 which I just finished up. I'm trying to get better and learn from my mistakes I made this past run so this should be good. I'm vegging/flowering in the same tent, a Secret Jardin DR100L. I'm still going to be using the 400 CMH for vegging but for flower I'm going to switch it up and use a 1000 HPS that I now have. Ventilation is a Vortec 6" for exhaust with speed controller and a duct booster fan to help for the intake. The lineup this time is Herijuana, Banana Kush, Head Band, Purple Voodoo, Bubble Gum, and Strawberry Cough. I transplanted the girls into 3 gallon containers with FFOF and they are going to veg in that for a bit. Right off the bat I managed to burn the shit out of the purple voodoo and strawberry cough with too much myco madness but have since tried to flush them and see if that doesn't help. They are two of the biggest clones so even with their setback they should be right on par with the rest of the girls. I plan on using Bio Bizz nutrients in conjunction with ACT's, just like my last grow. Here is a picture of the lineup as of yesterday,

If you have any questions or comments then I would love to hear them, thanks.

I was gonna flower in 5 gallon buckets, nothing else would fit in there, haha. I don't think I've gotten ahead of myself but we'll see here in a month or two. I don't know about blu mats so much, I've only briefly read about them. I plan on doing some more LST this time as well. Don't know if you noticed but I planted them all along the side of the container so I could do it in a more orderly fashion if possible. I originally thought about running 4 but I thought I could get away with a little less veg time and also have several more flavors with 6 girls.

capt.cheese1 grows a lot of his plants in 5 gal buckets. should be a good size for your situation.

i noticed that you planted to the sides. good thinking.

are you planning for ilke a 4-6 week veg under that 400? they could be real bushy and 18" tall by then. do a little pruning on the lower branches, and flip them to flower.

you could be pullin over a lb on this if you're patient.

how big is your tent again?

I think a 6 week veg time is pushing it, probably going to be more of a 4 week veg this round. I think a 6 week veg would make a proper jungle in there. My last round I vegged for just over two weeks in 3 gallon buckets with 3 plants and got a pretty decent canopy. My tent is a DR 100L so pretty much a 36-40" square.

I have been busy lately and haven't had time to do the training to the girls that they needed. One or two of the girls were starting to get way ahead of the others so I couldn't put it off any longer.

Here is the lineup before any training was done. Notice the herijuana in the back middle and how it's blowing past the others.

I didn't remember to take pictures of the headband and I didn't bother taking pictures of the bubblegum and banana kush as they aren't big enough to need training yet. If you have any questions then lemme know.

Thanks man. It's pretty wild too but between the time I posted the update and now all the plants have already reoriented themselves to have all the shoots facing the light.

haha, I don't know what else I could even take pictures of right now. I've already got the before and afters and I haven't done too much else to them yet. I'm letting the meristem grow up some more so I can tie it back down along the perimeter of the pot. And yes, I'm going to train them around the edge of the pot. I'm taking a different approach to this than my previous grow. Last grow I was micromanaging the girls too much, tying down everything instead of just the meristem and letting the new tops develop more fully. Don't worry though budman, I'm going to be taking more pictures here in a day or two. Thanks for the interest man.

*edit* Hey budman, I was just re-reading the posts in the thread and noticed that you are running some sour diesel kush. That is essentially what my headband cut is, a cross of Sour Diesel x OG Kush. I'd be interested in seeing/hearing about how yours is coming along. Check this link out and see if any of it rings a bell, http://www.kindgreenbuds.com/marijuana-strains/headband.html

Thanks NFD and Buddha.

Update time. The girls are rocking and rolling with no hiccups to speak of. The bubble gum finally got established and is starting to take off. It's definitely the runt of the group. According to the kindgreenbuds.com strain library this is spot on though,

"A slow starter with less initial vigor than an f1 hybrid, Bubble Gum needs extra germination time. But don't veg for too long - she tends to stretch during flowering."

I am happy with the FIM job on the HJ plant and excited to see what FIMing does firsthand. Seriously, why top and only get 2 new tops when you can FIM and get at least 4 tops with a less stressful impact to the plant? I also untied the farthest tie on the HJ plant because I didn't like how the plant was forming. I'm going to let the meristem reach back up to the light again in a more uniform manner and then tie it back down. I took before and after pictures of updated training and the plant closeups are the ones that recently had training done. I will also make the switch from using only string knotted together and use binder clips to hold the strings to the edge of the pot, might also get pipe cleaners instead of sting too. You can bend those around and reuse them where as string is pretty much a one shot deal.

Whips and chains man, I think I'm about to start roping in the Herijuana again. :whip:

*Update*

Trained the herijuana and purple voodoo some more today. The FIM job is coming along nicely too on the HJ. I would also like to say that the little paper binders and pipe cleaners are such a better system than tying up string all the time. With the newer method you can adjust so easily if you don't like something you just tried and you can also reuse the pipe cleaners. I can't remember where I saw this in particular as I would like to give credit where it's due but whatevs. It's really interesting to see how the different plants develop and respond to the LST. The banana kush could essentially be put on autopilot as it just bushes out everywhere on it's own. I've only bent it over once and it is doing so well and on the other hand the Head Band is lanky and just going all over the place. I don't know why but when I see the headband and how it responds to training it makes me think of the clip where Cartman is on the Maury show, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZLVi4v7lSM. The headband is in the back right corner in the whole lineup picture below.
