Since ordering I learned that light pentration is a problem when cloning with there cubes . Rapid rooters kick there ass in side by side , Same mother same humidity dome roots on rooters where thicker an stronger as opposed to thin slow rooting roots in the cubes . So I could only attribute it to LPenetr an figured I would have same problem wit thr growing cubes so I never used them . I have an idea how to use them an would like some input . Post an pics coming right up .

I've found that STG cubes dry out waaay faster than say rockwool cubes do. Keep that in mind, especially in higher temps as you'll find yourself with dried out clones rather quickly.

I personally don't like them for that reason as I'd either get them too wet trying to avoid drying out or they'd all just die on me if not watered constantly. Waste of time IMO.

Funny, funny... i went to em w they first came out, shit still have a few sheets in a box.

Went to em for the very reason of how dry they can maintain... even put them sideways so the 'grain' of the fibers went vertical... drained even faster. But yeah, they require more frequent watering.

Never had light penetration issues, but sure did have algae.

Thanks for the info guys an I would never clone in them again , An they do advise anyone buying them in there videos more frequent watering is needed . Ok im getting ready to do a sog an all I have are the cubes not the mat . An as I said I dont want light or algae issues which also aids in algae growth if im correct . So let me get straight to the point via illustrations . Wats everyones opinon on this working ? I can use light protecting film that comes with them to cover tops of cubes .Would the space between cube an bottom of pot be beneficial to roots , Would these pots be to shallow an limit yeilds ? I need any forseeable pros an cons that anyone may have . Or should I start cleaning hydroton ?

Just fucking throw toes things away!!!!!!

I have used them to pack boxes as fill.

There is no need for you to go through the pain many of us have.

I was too embraced to return them to my hydro shop for a refund. I was joking with the owner and he was ribbing me about saying they would be a good product. When I responded that I could bring them back, he got serious and told me to keep them.

If you want a good use for recycled plastic bottles, look to fleece products.

1st wrong step was buying them....research always comes first. Why someone goes and buys 100 with no evident knowledge just sounds kinda freshman to me.

But hey what do I know?

Best of luck and I hope you prove me and other nay sayers wrong, I just personally have not heard one good thing about these fluffboxes.

Couple hundred bucks for some first hand knowledge an potentially never having to clean hydroton isnt a bad trade off for me . I also did do some research on them and would be eager to hear the problems you had , Every ones constructive criticizm has been noted . Then I can make a more informed decision on how to proceed . I have no time for loosing crops so yal have my full attention . I have no problem using these things in my pillow case .Thanks guys

Couple of hundred bucks wasted and soon to convert to LOVING hydroton like you never knew possible. Return them now and save your self. If you think the cost of the Sure To Die is all, you are sorely mistaken.

You will kill most of your plants, your yield on any that survive will be minimal, all the nutes you buy and use with them will amount to a huge waste.

It will be much more profitable for you to learn from my and others painful lessons.

I hear u Hydrosun im glad I already clean hydton from last run . You already convinced me not to risk my crop , What I will do is throw a couple in a small system or on the table amongst the damn hydton just to entertain my curiosity , knowing flooding rates differ for each media . Saying there shitty is one thing an trust me I beleive u , But my curiosity compells me to figure out why there so bad since I already have them an a challenge to acheive positive results using them .

I hear you but, for me positive results means beating what I can do with an old school rockwool and hydroton setup.

Let us know how it goes. I hope you can get something out of the stuff, but I'm really glad you aren't committing a crop to it yet.
