Not coco like you, just pro-mix hp. I used to run hydro ferts but this time PureBlend Pro. I like to keep the grow simple, but this vertical thing has kinda perked my curiosity and initiative. The first frame took about 45 minutes to make, but the second only took 15. Had to stop the bulb from swaying with some wire and a twist tie. I can't stack bulbs and expect these plants to grow tall so the frames are 5 feet tall. I sure like the wash of air down the walls because of the vertical fan.

Converting the veg room to vertical is going to be the next project.

How long do your Ak s take to finish? A buddy of mine's took 50 days like clockwork. Your plants look awesome.:headbange:headbange

I actually just ran out of my old nutes and switched to PBP. I use CalMag, Pro-TeKt Silica and some other stuff too, but my nutrient routine is generally something that isn't a variable in my grows. I can appreciate all kinds of mediums though as I've ran many of them! Just today I picked up a jug of PBP Veg and a box of Sunleaves High P Jamaican Bat Guano. . . gotta use whatever works based on the situation! For me that means organics outdoor and synthetics indoor. Glad you have a routine that works.

My old AK mom, which was a sister to my current mom, took about 65 days. This plant stretches like crazy, has mad foxtails and a bunch of other sativa traits. . . so I don't know how long she'll take. At least 10 weeks and probably more like 11 based on my usual preference for later rather than earlier. Don't quote me on that though because this is the closet thing to a sativa this heavy indica lover has ever grown!

I had to tie up some heavy branches this morning so I snapped a pic while I was in there.

Last week their nutrients were tapered from 1100 PPM down to about 400 PPM. Today was the first day of plain Ph-balanced water. I wouldn't be surprised if these genetics take a full 11 weeks. If that's the case, I started flushing a week early, but all you can do is take your best guess. . .

My new vapor curve from Hashmasta-Kut! His work is amazing and he is the pioneer of Ti vaping, that's the way I understand it anyways. What I would have given for a piece like this back when I had access to the concentrates from the SoCal dispensaries. . . I might have never graduated!

I'm not a glass aficionado by any means, but I do have a strong bias for simple tubes that have capacity & are easy to clean. This vapor curve is a perfect addition as it works great but is also pretty much maintenance free.

This is the product of my first hash oil run. It went very well. I had (2) quart jars almost full of lightly crushed trim, popcorn, stems from the middle of large nugs, etc. A good portion of the trim was from last year's outdoor run, which was potent but not tasty at all. I was impressed that even with only a single 30 second wash of Acetone and a run through two coffee filters the oil came out fairly amber with no trace of the strain's original taste in it.

In mid to late September I'll be harvesting my LED grow, this 600 watt vert and about 12-14 outdoor plants that are 6'-7' tall, so I should have enough trim for another run soon. Next time I'll do a second wash with Everclear, filter it again through a fresh coffee filter & hopefully end up with some absolute amber shards. . . :kos:

The donut about a week from chop. I have to go harvest some outdoor Maroc from Female Seeds early this week, but when I get back these AK's will get the chop.

picture.php

Everything is healthy & they've been flushing for two weeks already.

The bulb is as close as it's ever been, but all in all I'm glad I didn't go overboard with nets & training. That can consume you. . .

picture.php

Foxtails anyone?

picture.php

They're very greasy and dense.

If you look at any one side of the donut, it looks like any other canopy from a garden with a horizontal bulb.

I have to say, im impressed. You have most likely the most basic setup i've seen for a very long time, but from the looks of the nugs, i guess there is nothing that needs to be improved anyway :)

Nice 1 :)

Thanks!

Behind the scenes there's a bunch of junk that serves as my logistical support. For feeding I have an RO unit, a 30 gallon res for flowering nutrients & a 12 gallon res for Ph-balanced RO water. Each of those has a pump in it so I can easily get it into my watering can. For my moms, late vegging, & scouring through seeds for new potential moms there's a 7 sg ft veg cab with a 10 gallon res & a drip system at the bottom. I also have a second flowering area & a 2x4 GrowLab tent that I use as a drying room. My house as a whole acts as a lung, with a dehuey on year-round @ 55% & the central AC on when necessary. Each individual grow space has a negative pressure system via a 4" (LED & drying tent) or 6" (HPS) vortex fan & appropriate Phresh filter.

It's nice having as little as possible in the grow spaces, regardless of how large or small it is.

Wow, they're finishing perfect for you B. The Ak's seem to be perfect for your style of growing. Are you going to run them again or try something different next crop? Nice camera work too.

I'm going to Africa for a few weeks right after the last plant in this grow finishes, so I won't be able to do a back-to-back harvest. A buddy of mine will get about 12 rooted clones right before I go so they can veg in keg cups in his veg area while I'm gone. That way I have plants ready for me to transplant into 1-gallon pots the day I get back. . . nice friend, right?

I have (3) potential Casey's Dream moms & (5) potential Casey's Queen moms that should show sex in the next two weeks. I'm planning on vegging out those females before I go, taking clones and having then be ready when I get back. The Casey's Queen female I have flowering right now smells incredible. . . straight up Blueberry from the Blue Dream mom. I rub my fingers along her stem and then smell it constantly. That's just the first female I found, so the rest should be fire too. . .

Here's my thread about the new strains:

A Busy Couple of Weeks

A Busy Couple of Weeks

Well, the alarm is set for 4 AM tomorrow. I'm gonna get up, smoke some oil, walk the pooch & roll out to (hopefully) harvest some outdoor. I say hopefully because the OD game is always a gamble. It's a haul to get there but I'll have the pooch to keep me company, and of course some tunes. . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1hMTmLTmxw

I just checked the trichomes on the AK and they're all cloudy with about 10-15% already amber. I prefer to dry my OD harvest near the plot so the buds are at least off branches and in paper grocery bags by the time I drive anywhere. That means when I get home these AK's should be ready to chop.

Pics to follow, but more importantly the Casey's Dream is about to get some serious real estate in the sun. . .

Nice. Now one more tip... And I'm not sure I will ever say this in public again, so pay attention... Use silica in your feeding regimen. Silica is the secret to super killer pot. It makes your pot burn 3 times better, and the high is three times higher. Shhhhhhhh!!! Don't tell everyone. ;) But remember, I was the first to say it, and right here in your thread. ;) Silica is the missing key from most indoor gardens... and most people who use it don't have a clue that it is helping their herb burn better and get them higher... they just think it's for plant strength and disease resistance! The advice to use silica is the best advice I can give for the grower who wants to achieve pot that burns even better than a cigarette. Tobacco is grown in sandy soil, and has access to lots of silica. ;)

Crazy, I never heard that until today, good advice... got any cat oil, snake oil to go with that? lol, no really, is that only outdoor advice?

I only started using silica on my latest grow. I'm about 2 weeks away from harvesting clones from a mom I've been cloning for 2 years now. If this new stuff gets me 3x higher than before, I'll be sure and let you know.

I get silica from the powdered DE i top dress with to control fungus gnats. I didnt notice a huge jump in potency when i first started, but it was noticeable. It did, however, make the entire plant better all the way around. They have much stiffer stems, handle more heat and drought, resist insect attack better, and produce denser buds. Silica=good shit and its cheap as hell too. i've been using the same bag of DE for over a year and it doesnt even look like ive touched it.

Nice grow B. I'm about to start a Vscrog in a approx 3 x 3 x 5 with a 400w CMH. I cant wait to see what your final haul is.

B. Self Reliant, I knew I'd seen that 600w Verticle before, then I saw smilleys post and I remembered him telling me I had to check it out. Right on eh? I tried verticle in 2008 but I used my parabolic shade. I found I did way better with my horizontal, looking at your grow I think 2012 I'll try one of each but I'll lose the shade on the verticle. (ya ok BubsNugs maybe you were right again) Have a great trip and good luck outdoors. Hurry back!

Wow. . . it's been a long day and it's only 4:30!

I harvested all (12) Maroc today. Half of it is trimmed and hanging, the other half is void of fan leaves and hanging up but still needs to be trimmed. One plot was steadily eaten by deer throughout the year, but the good news is I know where I'm hunting this year! I saw a huge bear turd there too, and it was fresh. I wish I would have seen him. The second plot had the other ten plants and all of them survived. Stoked! The LA Confidentials are killin' it but they need another two weeks or so until they'll be ready.

All in all it's been a good day!

I come back from the outdoor plot to find the AK's are still only 15-25% amber, so the wait continues. I'm sure quite a large percentage of people would have pulled them by now, but since I have that 420 scope now, I'm trying to make an educated decision.

Way to go with the outdoor success so far B. Self Reliant. 15-25%? I'm with the guys who would have pulled them last week. What is it you find with leaving them and when do you harvest?

Thanks bro. Outdoor is a lot of hard work & it's very unpredictable. I've learned a lot over the course of the last 3 years & it's starting to pay off in a very tangible way. I can't wait for next year! I hope to run Maroc again, only next year I'll give them an additional 2 weeks of veg time indoors before putting them out at the plot. Live & learn. . .

Generally speaking clear trichs are gaining potency and amber trichs are losing potency, so as long as there's more clear than amber, I generally wait. There aren't any clear ones left, they're all at least cloudy, so it shouldn't be much longer than a week or so. Also, cloudy trichs tend to be more heady and amber tends to be more indica-like, at least from what I've found.
