My lumi digs killed two sun master dual spectrums with the super lumens turned on. In 2 grows. Gone back to the shps sun master and will change them every two runs.

Gavitas stuff is the nuts.

Was you ballast running when your turned the lummens switch on? I was told to turn the switch on or off while the ballast was switched off. So not to pop your bulbs.

What type of bulb were you using?

I was using the sunmaster duel specs, but i see herbs has already come across the prob, and i`v just killed a 600w bulb with only 6 months use during the last 2 weeks with the super lumen switch on, i might be better getting the gavita bulbs.

when i bought my Lumatek they recommended the Osram bulb so thats what i use in there, still haven't tried the Super Lumens switch though. I think il try a Sunmaster in there next just won't hit the SP.
Whats with this Gavita company then? I googled them but couldnt find much info one there bulbs or any actually even on their site.
Peace

High Performance Horticultural Lighting at a great price by Relighting
Gavita makes the perfect horticultural optical system. They engineered the reflector optics and built them right into the lamp. Then they perfectly aligned the arc-tube to maximize lumen output at an astounding 95% efficiency. It's a well-known fact that the closer the arc-tube is to the reflector, the more light will be available to the plants, and you can't get any closer than the Gavita! And, because the reflector is on the inside of the glass, there is no need for assembly, and the reflective material never needs cleaning, so you're assured 100% reflection, 100% of the time. And if you're still not convinced, it has the best engineered lighting footprint in the greenhouse lighting industry, with a spectrum specifically designed for growing plants. What more could you ask for?

NOTE: Relighting is the company that developed and manufactures all Gavita bulbs (including ours) and so our Gavita bulbs ship in a box that is labeled Reflux by Relighing, not Gavita. Relighting licenses their technology to Rambridge Wholesale, who brands their version of the bulb under the "Gavita" name. Rambridge purchases the arc tube (the inner tube that actually produces the light) from Relighting and has them shipped to Europe where the final assembly takes place. We have found that the bulbs assembled in Europe are inferior in quality to the bulbs that are manufactured directly by Relighting. Some of the common complaints are that the glass they use isn't as clear and that the mogul base breaks and just spins in the socket assembly. Please be assured that BGH is not trying to sell its customers a cheap knock off. On the contrary, we are trying to go the extra mile to provide our customers with a superior product.

I have 2 600 super lumen Lumateks. I use a Eye Hortilux super HPS and a SunMaster Super HPS Deluxe Bulb in the same room.. Both have been on for over a month no problems yet. Has anyone tried Lumatek Bulbs??

yep some Lumatek are only Dimmable 600w and you can turn it down to 400w .

with the ajusta watt you can do this as well turn a 1000w down to a 600w or 400w also u can put in a 400w or a 600w bulb unlike the Lumatek Dimmable 600w

I use a 400w mh venture bulb in my dimable lumatek 600w just fine

When I spoke to the guy's in the shop about this dimmable ballast which they have being trying to persuade me to get for a while, they said that each setting requires the right bulb, so 400 = 400 watt bulb, 600 = 600 watt bulb and 1000 = 1000 watt bulb. I have also read this on loads of other forums where these dimmable ballasts are being used. If I vegged and flowered etc in the same room then I would have 2 already but as I have designated clone, veg and flower rooms then I will never use the ballast less than there max output so 1100 watts using a sodium bulb. The only real advantage is they are digital and the bulb gets to full brightness quicker. Cant wait to see your results though Cheesey mate. :ying:

I thought Digis kept bulbs pumping out perfect lumens for 2 years, that was the biggest advantage ?

Years ago, at 1g/w, £30/600W bulb, £5/g I did the sums and worked out that it was worth changing your bulbs every crop, that the lumens had dropped off enough to make it worth spending £30 to save a possible £70 odd loss due to the bulb's lumen degradation ?
