?Grape Ape?

?Grape Ape?

Hi there Grape Ape experts,

Let's se here, three months ago I received a number of clones one of which was reportedly a Grape Ape. This plant is now in the final stages of flowering, and I managed to propagate 6 more that are now in veg.

Here's the thing: I'm beginning to doubt that its a Grape Ape. I'm sure that this is the place to settle this quandary of mine.

Phenotypical characterictics: low yeild, perpetually curling leave edges, even when under fed/watered, slim branches, purple throughout life cycle.

Any opinions?

atilla - the last pic of the plant looks like an Ape plant, but the bud doesn't look like the GA I used to have. Low Yielder is an understatement! Those fuckin plant yielded lower than anything else in my e & f trays, yet took up more room than all the others combined. Branchy, leafy plants with airy buds. Tasted good . . . but then again, so does grape gum, but I'm not gonna replace my garden with bubbalicious!

Thanks for the confirmation.
Funny, these buds are super tight, rock hard like golf balls. I might be lucky to get 1 1/2oz from my rather large plant. I never would have picked this plant. It just was slipped in the batch. Too bad the dispensaries wont pay extra for lower yielding, higher quality plants.
$250/oz almost regardless.

Self reliant- I don't think what you had was Grape ape. The buds are very dense on this girl and she is not a bad yielder, really. GREAT smell, GREAT bag appeal, GOOD taste, stony, but not terribly potent.

So the legend grows.... a congoese cannabis farm worker was working the field one day untill he heard some rustling fromt the bushes, he walked towards it and found a gorrila having intercourse with a grape next to a unsual cannabis plant (cali cut only) and found THE LEGENDENDARY GRAPE APE CANNABIS STRAIN!

I LOVE grape ape,....I'm on my 5th run of it (9 girls under a 1K)
it ripens FAST, like 45 if you're in a hurry, but it will get super potent at 55-65, and will get nice and purple IF you get the night time temps BELOW 60F degrees (purple starts at about day 50 or so)

yields WAY better than erkle, and about like a fat GDP, but it finishes 20 days sooner.

one of my all time faves, I will always keep this around.

it reminds me of OG kush, except grape ape tastes GREAT, and OG kush tastes and smells like armpits.

Reckon, sounds awesome. You're making me want to try my Grape ape / C99 beans I was gifted.

Fast finisher, awesome hybrid!!

I just read this whole thread and I am surprised that no one mentioned Soma's Lavender!

Back in 2002, I was gifted a Lavender plant. The guy that gave it to me relayed this info during a long smoking session:

Lavender is the true parent to all the purples being discussed. Someone here in Mendo took Soma's Lavender and crossed it with a special PHENOMINAL skunk#1.

Purple Urkle
Grape Ape
Mendo Purps
Grandaddy Purple
Purple Cream....

are all just phenotypes of the original Lav x Sk1 cross.

Here is a pic of the Lavender I grew back in the day....

I have some more pics that I haven't uploaded yet. Will get to that soon. You will most likely see the resemblance between the Lavender and all it's kids. But the taste is waaaay different.

Harborside Health Center had grape ape, purple kush, gdp, urkle and I've seen Grape Ape a bit over a week ago. They post menu of clones and sales on smokeables threw twitter http://twitter.com/hhcoak so get updated on that Mon threw Fri just after noon (I find its updated after 11am some time and not on the weekends.) they also have a San Jose location and twitter feed http://www.twitter.com/hhcsj (I could only imagine that some strains come back around and are re-supplied by their venders), I seen white widow on their twitter a few days before I went their and I lost out. they have a 75 clone limit so in reality its first come first serve and trays of fire cuts go fast imho) I recommend dropping in early in the week for short lines and less waiting around. they did have a hug e selection of cuts when I was their a bit over a week ago, allot of variety I was surprised to see -they had 30 dif cuts posted on twitter and still more they didn’t post (grape ape is very interesting to see the paki- which is a kush id imagine -we have multiple patients and various conditions so a good variety for us are hybrids like GDP and it seems grape ape although I expect a indica dominance from grape ape -its growth being more indica from what I read and see.

I’ve gotten ape from street sources and its the only times I’ve had it so I’m not 100% I’ve even tried the legit ape cut yet -peeps don’t got to lie to kick it but they often do. This thread makes me wish I had picked up that ape from HHC in Oakland when I was in their getting like a dozen other dif clones (I’m looking for sativa too but I’m curious to see skunk 1 and paki making grape ape, I had no idea skunk 1 was breed into grape ape! I’ve wanted to try this cut but GDP does it for our needs and I’ve been looking for a sativa that doesn’t have much drag or couch lock/ makes me sleepy. It’s good to see the reports that doesn’t last long with grape ape, sativas do ease my sharp pains some along with helping the depression/anxiety but not near what purples can offer me. I would be interested in grape ape mostly cause of that skunk 1 influence (I picked up UK cheese blue cheese, purple diesel and others but over looked some purples I’ve been meaning to grow and smoke out.) thank you easyrasta for your researching and sharing this!

HHC verifies their venders cuts with flowers at first so thats where the confidence factor is thease days, tomorrow maby we will have flowers to look at but today HHC does that for us so that i can be confident in my pruchases and investments. i was also under the impression its a low yealder wich could be why i over looked it, GDP does good for us and i had no idea grape ape was a sativa hybrid to be quite honest -we need mroe threads like this 1

i cant beleave that soma is responsable for all the purps in cali -there are pakistani purps and afghani purps and their are probly landrace purple kushes from these regions.. props to apothicary and all the folks in cali who breed theas fantastic flavores and truly effective meds. i read something in hightimes a while back about opthicary and their projects, something about grap ape originating from apothicary but i cant trust everything i read in hightimes like i cant trust everything i read on the net -i dont remember anything being published about skunk 1 breeding into paki though, their was another hightimes article called grapes of wrath wich subcool talked about grape ape i think- but he said he was gifted the cut. -nothing was said back then about liniage, nothing about skunk 1 or paki. this is great information
