Seems strange you had nothing?

Moistened toilet paper, inside a DVD case and put somewhere warm - 24-36 hours later and they all had sprouted for me

Yea i got nothin but i dont blame the seeds i will try that exact method with the next 6 and let you know i put it in moist paper towl inside of ziplock bag. thx for the help tho.

WHOA! excuse me? you had 6 FS x PB fail to germ????!?!?! ya there is something wrong with your method buddy. I hate absolutely hate the paper towel and all that crap methods for germinating seeds, so many things can go wrong with it. If you get it to warm bacteria might grow and kill your seeds, you could let the towel get to dry and so on and so forth.

The way to look at it,, why in the hell would you ever try to germinate in a paper towel in the first place,, nature doesn't put seeds in a paper towel to germ... uses fresh wet soil. So that being said,, all you need to do to get great germination rates is the following:

Take a small CLEAN! preferably a new 16 oz plastic cup, put distilled water in it, put your seeds in the water, keep water at 60-78 degrees F. wait 12-18 hours, take the seeds out and directly plant them pointy end down into your growing medium about 1 cm deep, lightly cover and gently compact the soil on top ,, then water ever so slightly to reset the soil so it looks undisturbed. Simple done, you will get 90%+ germination this way on good seed stock.

Had the seeds started to do anything? like cracked and started to put a tail out?

Airing cupboards are a good place.

I usually put them (dvd case method) on top of my tent, or sometimes wrap the dvd case in a t-shirt and put it in a shaded spot inside the tent

ya sorry bro but you cooked them!

only need to be 60-75 F to sprout. Basically a nice room temp. Putting them in the shaded spot like Mitch says is just to ensure they have a constant warm temp to work with, not cook with.

Old style playstation3? My one used to get really hot before it went to silicone heaven. I like the top of the fridge (outside of course).

the paper towel method was made for poor questionable seed stock,, so people didn't have to waste time on duds and only plant the seeds the actually sprouted. There is no reason you should put healthy seed stock in the paper towel method. Do the water soak/ soil / peat pellet/ rapid rooter method described above and you will not have problems again.

the paper towel method is also a bit dicey cuz you can accidently damage the tap root & that will cause stunting or certain death.

i like to drop a seed in water, then if its very vital by the next day its cracked or a tap root has emerged, this i put directly in my medium and usually on day 3 its up, that is the ideal situation but it can take a week. ive done paper towels, reg dish towels, ive also lined up my seeds so the tap is at the bottom and lifted a plate that i would lay the paper towel on so gravity had em all going the same way(down), now i just do it the easy way.

I just put my seeds in a cup of distilled water and put it in the cupboard for a day or so. Then I plant them about 1/4-1/2 inch in moist soil and put the pots someplace fairly warm (70f-75f or so) and wait. After a week I almost always have sprouts breaking surface. In fact, I can only remember two seeds that didn't sprout. Two duds out of fifty or so in the last year isn't too bad, I think.

I drop into the warm moist compost in their final pots. 1/4 inch deep with the pointy end up. I put under a 600 (straight to 18/6) but the light is 3-4 foot away. spray with water 3 times a day to keep topsoil moist. They will pop in 3-4 days. Any that don't, have a dig to see if it's almost up, if so then clear the way, if ye find the seed and it has not cracked, by all means try your other methods but I don't bother.

I've got about a 90-95% success rate so far with this method with seeds from seed banks.

Keep it simple like SGS suggested.
Think of mother nature, i dont see paper towels anywhere when seeds germ.
I've quitted pre-soaking too, i put seeds directly into soil and i cant complain germ rates either for cannabis or other plants.

Good luck
