coco trees in big pots

B

BlueberryNutz

those are nice looking. i am legally allowed 12 plants so i figure 12 under 3 600w lights with about a month veg time should suffice. if they overgrow the space i can supplement with some 400's i have laying around

Well done. What was the veg time for your prospective 1 pounders?

thanks shh, and budmuncher!
8-10 weeks nacho.
best thing is the coco is bug free. root balls have been removed and smart pots with lvpk's are flowerin in em now, fast and painless.

this bubba was a powerful vegger too , so that helped.
After three yrs, I finally dialed this strain, and didnt even take cuts, now discontinued.
might add another level next run since the new girls are small

If anyone wants to know big pots make a huge difference,
and i would say the tall trashcan beats the same size square low tubs.

other notes......2 bulbs rock same height, best buds were above the light, if light gets too close those buds grow stemy and funky. bamboo frame inside is the shit too.

was afraid of em but pk boosters make all the difference if used right.

another thought, coco can take higher ppms than rdwc, and likes it

these cans with the new superskunk I got would set records, or the right sativa hybrid

got heaths v3 cloned and flowering, looks perfect in structure, smell is wicked, hard to describe tho.

good god and you only got 4 oz per plant... thats some shit yielding plant your growing there sir...lol must be amazing smoke for you to keep grwing it huh?

if your going to try this again can i make a suggestion you dont go as big with the container and you use a smartpot or Airpot for maximum root ariation... hempys only have one hole at the bottom right?

also 8 to 10 week veg is mega... what lights are you using to veg them?... im pretty sure with that amount of veg time they got pretty big right... did you defoliate them at all as them bubbas have some big ass fan leafs covering buds sites.... also the stems away from the light ante worth shit so lopping them off will hep concentrate the plants efforts into the buds in front of the lights...

a upright scrog like what marlo does would be a winner imo with that sort of time frame for veg you could fil a screen nicely and this will open the bud sites up creating more for more buddage...

so FTW IMOpinion....

I would veg them in small 1/2 gallon pots 2 weeks... under a horizantal M/H at minimum of 40wpsqft

then into 1 gallon for 3 weeks still keeping them under the horizontal M/H bulb at a minimum of 40wpsqft

then 5 gallon 3 weeks+ once in the 5 gallon i would defoliate all large fan leaves off of the plant so that the light can get into the plants smaller nodes and leaves to bring them on bigger faster and better...

also at this time set up a training screen and train every stem you can through the screen any at the back of the plant lop off so its only stems at the front and sides... veg on and continue to train them girls for your 3 or so weeks....5 gallon is plenty big enough for double the yield you got on your last run...

i hope you take what i have said in the way its intended to be read not trying to patronise your growing as i see some lovely hydro trees you grew before in the UC buckets... im just trying to give you another perspective on how to maximise your yield as you said this is the same as usual no matter what technique....

let me know what you think no offence taken if your not on board with my idea just trying to spread the wealth :D

Hey Laylow thanks for that detailed response.
I'll have to do this bit by bit.
ya its some pretty good smoke similar to an og kush
Its retired now but the only strain I have kept over the last 3 yrs.
had higher yielders from clone and the bou but none had the qaulity needed around here

stems were as big as quarters, huge roots vegged in 5 gal bags , then roots completely filled the 32 gal, they drank 5 gal every other day no prob
budsites were exposed and trained on a bamboo trellis
ill get bak to ya

Cyat,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get what you were expecting, but I'm sure the buds are still fire!! Are your bottom buds as dense as the tops? I think you would kill it with 5 gallon smartpots with blumats. Laylow brings up some excellent ideas. I just pulled 2p's and 7 ounces off 6 plants in a 10x5 space with 2 vertical bare bulbs in vscrogs. The blumats gave me an extra 3 qp's more than my last run that was hand watered. Im happy, but still not satisfied as I'm going for 3p's in this set up. Also, since we're not running stacked bulbs I think it's important to move the light up and down. I leave my bulbs on top for 4 weeks, lower them for bottom buds for another 2(this is where I defoliate the bottom), then back up to concentrate on the top colas for the remaining time. Dense buds throughout. I'm really thinking of doing a vertical light mover like Marlo does, but it get so tight in my space with 6 huge trees. I know you didn't ask for help, but you're a homie and helped my ass numerous times on pm's. I know you can do it bro!

My thought is that you can double the numbers pretty easy. That would get you to 1.5 per bulb. From there to 2.0 per bulb will be much tougher but still fun.

Bring on the photos!

shocking how bad she yields for the size of finishing put and how much she was drinking you would have thought she would produce a lb... well whatever you decide for the next run ile be watchin for sure :D

Hydrosun,

What's your input on getting him to at least 1.5 a light? I also think that I have a lower yielding strain as well. That's why when I hear people pulling 2 plus a light I'm like WTF am I doing wrong! I'm actually thinking about pruning my whole bottom 1/3 of the plant before I let them into 12/12 so the light can stay put and just blast the buds throughout flower instead on moving them. My plants finish as around 6ft as well.

Stalk size. The best way I know to do this is get the 1Kw lights close the the babies as early as possible, and move the lights up as the plants veg. This is a easy step and will help you maximize the nutes and additives you are feeding your babies.

I've noticed a huge decrease in yield when I let my veg slip (i.e. leaving the light too high in veg). Root additives are huge in helping.

Pruning, topping, and training all help, however each strain has it preferred treatment for each growing style.

For those interested in good numbers per light, I always point them to this first time vert grow of a great grower.

It is a very well documented grow that hit 2.5 on 1Kw with standard veg time, pix at every step of the way.
