Nomaad III: 2011

The tests above are limited in their value because the samples were taken from different years, batches and possibly even made at different facilities.

Another installment of Nomaad's Janky Science Theatre.

The way I approach these half-assed projects is with the intention of gaining a better understanding of my growing without getting obsessed with the methodology. I have lots of interests and only time for so much obsession in any given direction.

I will be getting a microscope soon and some more testing gear. I'll also be posting weekly Brix levels throughout the season. I stupidly lent out my refractometer last season at the end of veg and just recently got it back. This year, I am going to keep track of this carefully, noting general plant health as it corresponds.

I'll have the main garden plugged by evening...

Curious if you're in yet and how your ladies look. Are you ahead of last year ? Looking forward to comparing notes I keep track of most thing you are going to :) Are you planning on getting any N P K meters as well ?

How are your deps doing? Did you end up putting any HID light in your deps? I didn't.

Also what did your line up end up being ? Dream & Sour D ? I didnt end up with any Dream in any of my gardens even though I thought I would I just ended up giving all my Blue Dream away to neighbors...

We plugged last Tuesday or wed... things are looking good. I am behind where I was last year in terms of plant size for sure, but that was the plan. Going for smaller trees this year- added a couple more to make up for it... But I wanted to minimize the use of ladders.

Lineup is Fire OG, Grape Stomper, Sour D, OG x Jolly Rancher, BlackBerry Kush, MK Ultra (amazingly vigorous cut that grows like Blue Dream but smells like a greasy OG), Pineapple Cough and Blue Dream.

NO HID light in the deps... I am going to start pulling tarp in another couple of days.

That's very kind. Thanks.

I would have liked a bit more variety in the lineup and put in some rather small plants (MK Ultra) to achieve the variety that I have. I didn;t do as much visiting in the spring as I would have liked to... We're doing a run of late plants this year for which I am about to cut the clones and I'll be collecting other genetics during the lull that will hit at the end of the month.

Save me some nugs of that MK Ultra I'd love to check em out...My buddy found a phenotype like you were talking about except it smelled like Train Wreck to me it was ready early and yielded huge.

Should have hardened off the plants a little better. They are experiencing a little stress from the direct sun. I figured that coming out of the greenhouse they would be fine as i have only had indoor to outdoor plants experience this kind of stress.

Ah well. They seem to be handling it well enough...

we setup greenhouses with 70% shade cloth and remove the cloth for an hour each day.. Increasing the hours daily until they can handle full sun.. We are in the high desert so this has really helped us.

Yeah... i hardened things my first year in a similar fashion... Last year, the pants were so huge and burly... they didn;t miss a beat with zero hardening off... This year's smaller, more succulent crop are not handling it as well. Lesson learned.

TG: If the MK is anything special, I will save you a taste.

Hey what up Madd, had a quick question for ya,

I vaugley remember some talk in the Big plants thread and maybe your thread last year of using moisture meters when watering to get a feel for optimum moisture levels.

I'm sure you've got your watering feel pretty dialed but have you used one?

If so, what brand did you end up picking up and what readings do you like to see?

Let's see some of those lush specimens while your at it!!! peace

thats probably what is happening to my ladies...they have what looks like CFL light burn on some of the bottom leaves, but all the tops are looking healthy and green...

i have a couple more that are still under a 400 MH that are going outside...i guess i should gradually introduce them to the direct sun light..

hey feenom. howzit going?

odog: Control Wizard PH8. sorry i missed that. Interested to know if you found anything you liked in the month since the question was asked.

Sorry I have been neglecting this thread. I am really charting no new territory this season... and with no real contribution to make, besides to my ego... The day by day play by play would amount to nothing more than a wank.

Soon, I will have some beautiful flower pics to share.

Wowzers that is the perfect example of proper outdoor that could easily be passed off as premium indoor. Although FWIW I prefer the excellently grown outdoor, especially from my buddy Nomaad.

Looks like we need to have another pow wow sometime soon before all that lovely goodness from the black boxes is gone. Kudos as always my friend wishing you a great harvest down the stretch. I'm stoked to be able to return the favor this time around as I've been able to finally get back to what I love doing.

Until then my friend.

thats some high grade weed right there....it pisses me off when people at clubs will say shit like "we dont take any kind of outdoor people dont want it"....and they have no idea what they are talking about because they have shitty premo burnt indoor nugs on their shelf instead of some good ol cali outdoor...wish i could sample that Fire OG looks like some good smoke!

Dont tell them

Hey Nomaad : Ive got a question maybe you can answer.

This Headband Cut, from Honeydew, that Ive been growing for a couple years, is off the hook. Its been a favorite for a long time. I keep hearing growers up north refer to this cut as "Diesel". Not Headband, not sour Diesel, just plain Diesel. Anyone in your neck of the woods refering to Headband as Diesel? Its not Sour Diesel Im sure. It finishes alot sooner with denser buds
