Definitely stealth. I had a grow in an attic space, and I felt very vulnerable in it. You could hear the fans, and it wasn't a good place to work in. Temps were unmanageable during the summertime, and water was constantly ruining the ceiling below it.
The process and challenge of the build drew me in. Everyone I suggested the idea to during the planning phase warned me of an untimely death if I were to continue. "So, you think I can't do it?" That was it. That, and the old thread about the cannabis cave with the hydraullic rock mine shaft exit, and living quarters... Where was that thread...

I have the room to convert a spare bedroom, but that's too out in the open for me. I wanted a deticated space that could handle anything. The corner drain is one of my most favorite features. Being able to flood your room with no ill repercusions is a beautiful thing.
There are a ton of benefits that come with a space like the bunker. Heat regulation is great. If you're in a hole, where can your CO2 float away to? What if my room burns down? My house would (probably) be safe.
What if Nazi zombies attack? Where would I be then? Fucked, that's where.
I have a little OCD, if you haven't noticed, and I'm constantly building something. Each project is bigger than the last, and the thought of what must come next frightens me.
i love my attic! i insulated that bad boy so much that you cannot hear any fans! and I stuck a big ass 24k btu AC unit up there also.... it could be 120 outside and that bad boy will keep it a cool 75 degrees in there! i did have 4-1000w lights in there, but i reduced them to 4-600watters with the lumatek switchable ballasts that allow you to crank up the amount of light beyond the standard 600w setting by switching it up one more knoctch to the "super lumens" feature ..so i feel like i still have a good amount of sunshine up there...
the reason i asked about the stealth is cuz i noticed that there are several indicators outside of your bunker that give it away... obviously you know this... i was wondering if you have ever had anyone down in your basement and they had NO CLUE that the grow was going on down there? i love stories like that...
The wife and i have hosted parties in our house where we have about 10 of our friends sleep over and wander the house... we are very comfortable with it because our attic and bedroom setups (6 total high pressure lights and 2 -4ft T5's) are so stealth that they would have no clue anything was going on... the only possible indicator of a grow would be the loud noise of the fans in the bedroom, but that is nothing that a exhaust fan in the bathroom won't take care of! i wire the fan to always run when visitors are expected, and the fan muffles the sound so much that we have people sleeping in a spare bedroom right next to the bedroom veg room.. its pretty cool to live stealth... really makes me feel good to not have to live like a TOTAL hermit.. the only people who know about my grow are ICMAGGERS
, and my wife... so with that being said, do you think you can do anything better to make your room a bit more stealth in the event that a police officer slash snooper would ever have to go into your basement un-announced? or do you not worry about that stuff?

At least I have plenty of work to do while I wait for new mothers to grow. This patio ended up being quite a bit more expensive than I thought it would. Actually, almost as expensive as the bunker itself. Money is so hard not to spend.
Here's my weekly TPS report. See below:
I have two courses of retaining wall blocks that are done. I'm going to need some more dirt to fill the planter, so I'll need a skid steer to finish it up. I still have the back wall to lay down using standard hollow core block. Rain, mosquitos, or tons of gravel cannot stop me. I will finish.

There was an article in WIRED about a guy who makes secret bookshelf-type hideaways, and there was some IMPRESSIVE work done. The last one he describes but does not show pictures of

Edit- on second thought... he could be lying. That's probably what he WANTS to build, so he might be padding his resume. Regardless, very nice work.

Here's some more shots of the patio. The 4' wall will go the length of the patio, and that will be the level of the top terraced planter. The front retaining block wall will go to the level of the grill, then it will step up, and back 2', to the level of the back wall, and follow the curve set by the first wall.

Not much work done this week, since I was away.
It's almost time to install the new main breaker.
The newest addition to the circus, I got a Phoenix Max 200 dehuey for $500. Sweet!
Now I can get rid of the 3 smaller dehueys.

So, I finally entered the data from several hundred receipts, and I have an estimate of how much this project cost me. Holy shit, I spent nearly $45,000. If I were to do it all over again, I think I could have lowered the costs by about $10,000. That's the cost of learning what I did.
If anyone wants to see the materials list, let me know and I'll copy and paste. Here's a rough breakdown:
$10,000 - Growing related equipment and supplies (Canna half)
$10,000 - Structure costs (Bunker half)
$10,000 - Dead end ideas/getting things right (First hydro setup, first door mechanics, costs to complete 2nd and 3rd versions of ideas as I worked through to final setup)
$10,000 - Electricity costs for 2 years of operation
$5000 - Patio on top
I was surprised at how much I spent getting things right. I guess knowledge costs money. So, if knowledge is power, and knowledge costs money, does that mean that money is power? Obvious conclusion, no?
