:tiphat: chaps.

Weather towards the end of the week is supposed to change and be cooler than average.
Night time temps will be low 3-4C in places, anyone with seedlings outdoors might want to bring them in or cover them at night.

Ah it does my heart good to see those lovely looking plants outside, those big ones must be near to flowering?

HGO I hope your not planning on digging holes for all those babies, you'll need a mini digger to get finished before harvest :)

Few pics of females.

yeap they just starting, their sister that i keep on the window has started week or two ago.
the bad weather in last two weeks slowed them down i'd say... anyway i'm very happy with them going on that way. :jump:

that's the sister i made midget ;) it was tri-leaf mutant so i decided to keep her as a toy ;)

Ah she's a cute lil thing :tiphat:
Tell me man, how does that strain get on under 100% natural light over here or have you tried growing it that way?

As far as pics go the more the merrier, anything that shows people they can grow great weed outdoors over here is a good thing :thank you:

that's what i'm testing now. got those especially as they were well known for high mold resist on continent and good growth and potential (you know those AF shrubs taste wired ;)). we will see how they get on. been tested on neighbouring island and got great results as far as i know ;)
other plus is that those girls are quite great indoor too, cuz the short growth and flowering period. starting flowering week 3 :)
it's easy to pump 'em under cfl and get into soil early april or even march. just two of them suffered from frost in march.

thats just my opinion at this matter at this time ;) just testing and having fun doing it :dance013:

Hows everybody's plants getting on in this cold weather?
Afew of my smaller ones were murdered by hail stones the other day :(
Growth is very slow down here, hoping the forecast is correct and things warm up during the week

havn't been on my own but i was helping and visiting friend's of mine and... Hollands Hope is not the strongest weed for low temperatures ;)
One plant after frost bites looks like public urinal on merchants quay hehehe

other thing is that we had some winds some time ago and two other plants had to be secured from wind by straps. combination of low temperatures and wind is deadly, stem first is weakened by temperature and then almost torn apart by the winds. The big one (it has sth about 1m height) cracked apart but seems to survive, feel sorry for this plant as it is already majestic :D

take a look at the leaves :D

and it's 1,5 month old - early start ;)

I tried HH a few years ago, cant remember the seed company but it was a bit of a disappointment for a few reasons.

1. really poor summer, did nothing but rain for 3 months.
2. it did not react well to topping, branches had to be strapped up like hell to stop em snapping with the weight of wet foliage.
3. mould was a problem, plant had to be cut n hashed early as mould from damaged limbs was starting to spread to the buds.

That being said it was a crap year all over the UK and Ireland for outdoor growers in general, HH does make a beautiful ornamental plant tho...deep green foliage with dark purple buds, must see if i can root out a picture of it.

Your mate would be well advised to start spraying early for mould if at all possible.

wow, nicely done!

are you not worried about your place being clearly visible from the sky and it doesnt seem to look like corn farm :bigeye:

how is this secured on the ground level if i can ask? and what is that white thing you made circles around the sacks?

good luck!

quick question...
I've been in local farm supply and... they are out of teldon 500sc from bayer. no chances for having it in stock for next month or two.

can you tell me where i can buy it? or sth similar to copper based agent? if not, can you suggest me good and cheap solution for mold?

thanks!

Hey laprecaun whats up
No im not too fussed by the ariel view. Theres fuck all choppers around here and where it is is pretty inaccessible unless you know where your going anyway.

As far as security goes I dont like doing it but I cut down a few trees around the area to block off anyone coming into the spot. Im going to do more though, like digging holes, breaking down sides of banks to make it dodgy to walk down

The white rings around the plants are mainly dolomite lime with a few other additives. The lime is to stop slugs gettin at the plants and the other additives are just to help improve the soil for next year

As for the mold thing the only thing I can recommend is paying very close attention to your plants and clearing all dead or dying foliage away from them . I was fortunate last year to only lose about 2-3g out of 8 plants with Frisian Dew which is a big factor to why im growing it again. Getting to the spot early morning to shake off water/dew helps alot

Doc, your spot looks amazing, :tiphat: off to you
I suppose when you break it down in the way you did in the comp thread cost is a minor issue.
If we get a good summer your gonna have more weed than you know what to do with and a fair auld sized ball of hash from trimmings :)

I dont worry about choppers myself too much, Ireland only has a few choppers and they cost too much to run to be having them wasting money flying about looking for a few plants.

Laprecaun brother, have a look in the stickies at the top of the Irish forum for a thread on botrytis.

Milk, baking soda, compost teas are all cheap mould sprays, I use them all along with Serenade on the cannabis plants, the soil and the surrounding plants.
Putting plastic down around the base of the plant at flowering time will stop rain splashing mould spores in the soil onto your plants.

Small update for this week.
If it reads a bit funny it's because I'm lazy and just copied and pasted it from my journal from another site.

My plants are starting to grow again, we had a few days of cold weather so they sat there doing nothing for a while, seperated 2 more males, HP and HP2 non autoing.
044.jpg

^HP, HP AND HP2 from left to right.

No new females yet, I still have a few left to sex but I'm sure 1 or 2 will be girls, the females already sexed are doing good
039.jpg

Seedlings took a bit of a bashing from the weather and 3 died out but the rest will bounce back nicely

My first cross from last year is turning into a little baby bush, dont know where the tight spacing on the nodes came from but I'm liking it.
045.jpg

3 of them at different stages of growth, one on the right will be male I'd say.

My spuds have exploded with the rain, they dont seem to mind the cold as much as cannabis...I did lose my cucumbers to the cold but there are plenty of replacements in the GH.
036.jpg

Here's a few pics of my friends that I feed a few times a week on food scraps from the kitchen, the trout are still a bit shy but the eels are friendly enough to hand feed.

^ this guy really likes pasta, the white patch on his back is where one of the other guys tried to pick a fight over some chicken and bit him.

Happy and safe growing. :hello:

Your plants look really healthy cookie. Oh and so do your eels, im sure your gonna win the eel of the year comp

Yeah last year I got a mountain of hash, I have the full set of bubble bags so i was all geared up for it. It was weird though cause the hash was a bit green as opposed to brown/dark colour, i put it down to the plants being pulled a bit early. But still i reckon I got about 10g from them. It was nice enough too, not very strong but was nice for a change,

What company are your Hash Plants from cookie, they look really nice. I never thought anyhting but Dutch strain stood a chance in our weather but im happy to proven wrong. How are they for holding up in oct/nov?

Yeah laprecaun I took some of cookies advice from the botrytis sticky last year and had minimal loss. simple things like weed control fabric, topping the plant so there wont be one fat mold collecting bud and pulling leaves to keep the air movement constant really help and costs are minimal

Greenish water hash?
Did you use fresh buds/trim or dry, fresh will always be a bit greener.
Sometimes it also happens when you use a high speed drill to stir the ice water trim mix, I get less green by mixing with a big stick :)

Hash Plant Hash Plant2 and the Danish Gold are all the work of that lovely fellah from Denmark, Esben ....Hybrids From Hell (hfh) he has his own sub-forum in the breeders section, well worth checking out.
Oct/Nov they will be in their curing jars :)
They will start to flower in June and be ready by mid Sept before mould becomes a real problem.

It was dry leaf, but funny that you mentioned a drill. I put a wooden spoon in the chuck of my ryobi drill and let it rip for half an hour. Is there any negative to using the drill other than greenish colour hash? I wish i had some pics of it now.

Ya ill def check out Esben if there going to finish by mid september. They sound like a winner. Whats the stone/taste/potency of it like?. Even before i do my own research im liking the sound of them, if your growing them I know there gonna be good. You clearly know what your doing and have some real good knowledge.

so would HP be your top outdoor seed or did you just have seeds left over from previous grows?

The only negative I've found is a drill beats the shite out of the leaves giving you a harsher greener tasting hash, I do 2 runs with the same material.
The first is mixed by hand for 20 mins or so, then the trim gets strained out and put into another bucket and my makita LXT comes out to play, damm thing will push a 6 x 120 mil screw through a 4 x 4 and out the other side.

I wouldn't go so far as saying I know what I'm doing, this is only my 3rd year at making a serious attempt at outdoor growing and I'm no expert by any means.

Pretty much anything Esben recommends for our climate will do very well over here, if it grows well in Denmark it thrives in our climate.

^ my hfh cross germed in July 2010 that went straight into flower, , same seeds that were donated for the outdoor growers comp.

Those HFH Hash Plant look unreal. That second one looks like a monster. How much did it yield, or do you even keep track of such frivolous things?

I didnt think anything germed in July would yield at all but your hfh cross looks savage.

Ive been checking for some of the seeds but cant seem to find anyone who has them in stock. I dont need them until next year really but i want to make sure i have them. You cant have enough seeds anyway....

Do you run anything indoor when its outdoor season cookie?
