The media and the government are one in the same. They have been controlling and munipulating the minds of the public for years. Many studies have been done on psychology and the way the brain works for the longest, they have become so good at controling people minds through advertising and media that humans are being brainwashed and have been since they come out the uterous. A 'republican' or 'democrat' or 'party' is just implemented to make people 'feal' like they have say and actually 'choose' a side. it is in human nature to pick when presented with a choice, and even roll with it. You think we elected obama? It was planned for obama to win before Obama himself knew, if he ever did. A president isnt what it used to be, he niether runs the country nor makes decisions. His roll is to be the one we thought we chose, when really the media chose. He is the one who gets blamed if the people dont like the desicions being made behind closed doors, or get praised if the people DO like them. Obama was used to give the people hope, and to prevent any form of uprising at the time. The system is in place and working the way they want it to, theres really nothing you can do but be aware and live your life, unless you have the power to unite the people and bring an overstanding to the situation... good luck getting through the barrier of what people think they know that has been put on there minds since youth. When someones been locked in a cave looking at shadows there entire life its hard to convince them of what the world outside really is.

I like your avatar. That's what I call it: "Medical Cannabis", not the term they used to demonize it, "marijuana".

I think if we dog him relentlessly with this reasoning, we can eventually embarrass him into seeing the hypocrisy of his stance. And I do believe he has the power to make a change, just not the guts. After all, he has the bully pulpit. If he addresses the nation and says, as many others have "we need to end this war on drugs", people will listen and things will change. After all, if so many of us can see it, why can't he?

If you're talking about Retro's latest approach, I think it won't explain a ferkin' thing. IMO, the method commands respect. IMO, one may command, especially where demand isn't working.

not talking about anyone's approach disco .... i just can not honestly see anything ANY politician on EITHER side of the coin (SAME COIN) has to say as doing a damn thing to help the situation. they got us here, and we let them....... all of them and all of us, over a very long time.

if all this had gone this far south in the last three years we would all want this president burned, but this shit started before he was born ...... he is a hollow fool like the rest of them.... if i want a puppet i will do some muppet re-runs, at least that is funny in a not sad way

I have a question...I have a question.....

Mr Obama, is it true what I hear, that you have to be a Natural Born United States Citizen to be eligible to use cannabis medicinally in any of the 50 states that might legalize it for medical use?

I wouldn't vote for your question... he would just say "Yes" and laugh... because he is.

You could also ask him about this crack pipe you claim he's got too, but in the end you have done nothing but waste time that could be spent being real.

I like Retro's question five hundred times more... but I'm not Obama.

With Obama admitting he smoked pot, posing the question of the consequences of a bust in his past is absolutely brilliant.
He would have to really show hypocrisy, or climb on the bandwagon if he seriously addresses that issue.

But, what we fail to recognize is that Obama could give two healthy shits about what is real and what isn't. He, and his minions including his administration from top to bottom as well as the blatantly bias media, only care about one thing...making enough people buy into their spiel so they can retain power. No more, no less.
And it is people that really don't look at things in a non biased way that they are after. They want their constituents to be as biased as they can be. They actually want them to hate the opposing positions, and the people that subscribe to those dissenting positions.

It is the game plan of Obama and ALL of these folks to throw out baseless charges, be there any factual backing of them or not. And they never let any sort of a lie, or implication, get in the way of them advancing their agenda. No matter who it may harm, and no matter how smearing and hateful the things they say are. As long as it is directed at their opposition that is....
They will also circle their wagons when one of them is cornered in a lie or some similar act of deceit. They will lie for each other early and often.

Now, knowing this is the crowd and leader we are dealing with, what person in their right mind (or left for that matter) thinks that Obama gives half a damn about the cannabis issue?

Please....
:dunno:

i got a ? for him
what scientific or even logical reason is there for cannabis to be a schedule 1 narcotic for wich billions in taxes are spent on incarseration/eradication not to mention famillys being torn apart by the legal system when cannabis has been proven to have medical value and is one of the safest/versitile substances on the planet according to a DEA judge?

I would ask why cannabis has bounced between schedules, and why there is Marinol and Dronabinol or Federal patients who received cannabis for medical use.

There is a real issue when you look at Federal programs that are funded to commit illegal acts.

I'm reminded of Tricky Dick's idea of "if the government does it it isn't illegal." (paraphrased to exclude individual incrimination)

Hypocrisy doesn't float in the days of missing funds.

I would probably phrase it "Why is the government making money on both sides of the medical cannabis issue while civilians suffer?"

Wow...alot of people actually bought that 'hope and change' commercial.

You know you're grasping at straws when the best you can do is hope for change.

I want to know exactly what he said to Holder.

O.K., so I posted the following question on Facebook, under the name Robert Ta (not my real name):

"Mr. President, I would like you to explain how you justify enslaving other human beings and putting them in cages for using cannabis, doing the same thing you did. You broke the same laws that we are forced to, yet we are persecuted for it, while you get to be president. Had you been caught, you would not be President, and your life would have been ruined too."

Doubt if he would respond, but maybe if it gets enough recs, it might move up on the list. Not sure how the whole thing works, but I expect that after last years deluge of questions re cannabis, he will be sidestepping that issue altogether.

Anyways, my question would be basic,

Mr President, why have you allowed the Justice Department to raid and prosecute medical marijuana users after earlier promising that this would not happen under your administration?

Your draft was a lil' more diplomatic but your message is still clear. Wouldn't be surprised if the flinch-factor increased on the revised question. With all due respect, I also realize you may not give a flip what I think about your delivery. :)

Wow, do you really believe that?

Maybe I'll be called the water boy or get my post waxed altogether. I'll play it safe and address two points:

Obama/US is fascist - IMO, not true but doesn't get waxed at IC.:)

Maybe the president's promise included that state law had to be followed and that going over the fed limit would receive the same response (as always?)

I've got lots of disagreements with O's military, social and economic policies. He's closer to the last guy than I'd like to admit. This has little to do with the reflection of reality in my posts.

Marijuana Legalization: Poll Suggests Public Support Growing

First Posted: 04/19/11 07:06 PM ET Updated: 04/19/11 07:16 PM ET
Support for marijuana legalization is slowly rising, like the cloud of smoke you'll see above Ann Arbor's 4/20 rally Wednesday.

Data compiled by the Pew Research Center and drawn primarily from the General Social Survey has found a consistent trend towards supporting legalization of marijuana for recreational use, but no poll so far has shown a majority in favor.

In a poll released Tuesday by CNN, 41 percent of American adults said they favored legalizing marijuana, while 56 percent opposed. Another poll, conducted early last month by the Pew Research Center, found 45 percent of adults supporting legalization and 50 percent against it.

The CNN survey polled 824 adults between April 9-10 and had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. The Pew Survey was conducted February 22-March 1 among 1,504 adults and had a three percantage point margin of error.

Demographic trends show that the movement to embrace legalization will likely continue:

Both recent polls reveal younger respondents as the most likely supporters. In the Pew poll, the majority of 18-29 year olds (54 percent favor/42 percent oppose) and a slim plurality of 30-49 year olds (49 percent support/47 percent oppose) said marijuana use should be legal.

In the new CNN poll, about as many respondents under 50 said they supported legalizing marijuana (49 percent) as opposed it (50 percent).

Should surveys begin to show majority support for legalization, however, recent evidence from California suggests anti-marijuana campaigns can still have a big impact on public opinion. Proposition 19, a measure on last year's ballot that would have legalized recreational marijuana use in the state, ultimately failed 53.5 percent to 46.5 percent. All four pollsters conducting multiple surveys during campaign season found a drop in support for the bill over time. Three of the four polls initially revealed a higher level of support than opposition, but all four final polls showed opposition exceeding support.

The CNN poll found independents more likely to back legalization than either Republicans or Democrats, although none of the partisan groups showed majority support. In the Pew survey from last month, Democrats were most likely to favor legalization, along with a plurality of independents.

Both the CNN and Pew surveys found those who have attended college much more likely to support legalization than those who have not. According to CNN's research, those who attended college opposed legalization by a five percentage point margin, while those who did not opposed it by 27 percentage points. The Pew poll, which broke responses down further, similarly found that college graduates and those with some college education were much more likely to support legalization than those with a high school education or less.

In the CNN poll, non-whites were less likely to support legalizing marijuana than whites, even though, as the Human Rights Watch has reported, blacks will more likely be arrested for drug possession than whites (the CNN poll did not break down the "non-white" category further because the sample sizes would be too small).

Higher-income individuals were amore likely to support legalization than those with lower incomes, CNN also found.

The polls did not take into account legalization of medical marijuana, which typically yields higher levels of support.

Unless current trends reverse themselves, future 4/20 rallies could see majority support within a matter of years. Whether that support will remain after opponents attempt to sway public opinion as they did in California remains to be seen.

It's odd that many issues in this country are divided down the middle anymore.

Is it the two party thing? North vs South thing? Urban vs Rural?

Why does it seem like every vote is fifty fifty?

Is it just me??

That part is most surprising. I would think that blacks would be more supportive than whites. I would think that more blacks smoke than whites, on a percentage basis, certainly young blacks. I wonder if they just didn't participate in the poll as much, maybe because of more distrust of government and pollsters? Or maybe older blacks see it as just another part of the drug problems in their neighborhoods? It's all very surprising to me. What about Hispanics? I also thought that they used more than whites.
