Haha, I am actually still in the throws of a divorce and trying to escape the grip of the sociopath. This grow is my ticket to go where i can hermit out with: cabin, land, forest, home made scented candles for life, veggie garden, off-the-grid solar & wind, computer, the interwebz, Minecraft and TED, pets too!

Nice.. Damn.. Wheres my woman with this outlook on the hermit way of life?

Awesome grow Kirsten and fun commentary, i wish you the best with your harvests so u can get where your going..

BTW your description of one said "purple dildo" was gold!

Peace

The past few days i have noticed some paleness in the new growth. So I filled the tub to about 24.15 gallons (YES my eyeballs are that damn good, poured in some Humbldt Nutrients for the Nitrogen and Micronutrients, and this morning they look much darker, noticeable so, and i think it even affected their growth.

Also, the Pure AK, and A-Train, did not like this soil mix at all. They curled and twisted after transplant but now all that is over and they seem to have grown into the nutrient levels of the soil and are doing perfect. Surprisingly enough they look just as healthy as the rest that had no problems, and i don't notice that great a difference in the growth compared to the other plants that didn't have the issue.

Just noticed this one. Looking great there Kirsten. :) Just something to think about... the bigger a fan is (diameter) the slower you can run it and the quieter it is. I was running a 6 inch and that thing had to run so fast to move enough air that it was whining really loud. Once i got a 8 or 10 inch fan, can't remember, i ran it at much lower RPM's and that is really where the noise comes from with fans.

Something else that got my attention was i don't recall you saying anything about letting your soil mix going through a curing period before you used it for your plants. Some organic soil mixed really benefit from having a few weeks, if it's stays at a good moisture level, to shuffle all the nutrients and microbes around. This also makes the soil less "hot" and you might be able to get away with the same mix for both sativas and indicas.

Great job. I do a kind of stadium type as well, but not with the vertical bare bulbs. Something for me to think about. Keep it up! ;)

Thanks for the fan tip!

Ok, my soil sat for 4 weeks amended and watered once. (maybe i shouldn't have watered? Another grower i know in RL insisted that it was best to wet the soil and let it sit).

I thought that maybe watering it made it "cook"?

Thankfully the girls have grown into it.

Those plants are in there pretty tight... Do you have males to cull still?

Out of 45 feminized seed planted, 42 germinating, only 3 thus far have expressed any male traits and they may have even been sterile, but i took them down anyways.

So far, no more males, even after a week of 12/12 i can see the hairs piling up on the tops of all the older ones.

Really exciting.

wow those are looking fresh kirsten !!

kirsten sometimes if the plants look a little overworked, pale or cupping leaves, we need to show them a little less love and maybe and give them some breathing room. check those temps/airflow maybe boost the light up a little. are your buckets heavy?

anyways i'm rooting for ya girl!

peace babe

Just watered them. I am chasing this "pale green" thing that happened and after 1 treatment there was a very noticeable change.

Tonight i watered with Epsoms Salt & Mollasses (sweet always goes well with salt!).

The smaller ones have a ways to go and haven't even expressed their sex yet, though they are all fem seeds in origin. If any turn male they will die like the rest - my home will be female dominant. :D

Ohhh...I don't want to love them to death. haha.

- I increased air flow with adjustment of the fans and their speed so all the leaves have wind movement over them and show some movement.

- I raised the light up a little since one on one side has decided to be a tree and and mess the balance up for the rest..I will talk to this particular girl about their being no 'i' in tree.

- I fed them some last night (Epson Salt and Molasses), right when the lights came on and this morning, everyone was a darker green (did i imagine that? My baseline for comparison is the Sour Diesel and Khali and Carnival since they are the youngest and were also starting to show the pale leaf thing the most. But this morning they look considerably darker.

I didn't just give them Epson and Molasses, I also gave them a mixture (into about 25 gallons of water or so - Yes i can eyeball the bathtub!) of something i boiled up, it was some: Earthworm Castings, some left over guano, and a little meal mixture and i heated that up in some water to break it down and then poured it into the tub. Of course i had to say something as i stirred it with my never used plunger, like: Double, double toil and trouble; electric coils burn, and ganja tea bubble.

Anyways, I went to bed scared i was going to wake up to crispy leaves all curled under and twisted and instead all the pale got really dark!

I guess I wont feed them another thing for a few weeks.

Are the buckets heavy? Well, no. I pretty much let the soil dry out. I bought a moisture meter, but i really don't trust it. So instead i just use my hands in the dirt, fingering it to check for moisture below the first inch of dirt and when the first layer is pretty crispy dry as in the dirt is pale in my hands and not black or moist at all, i water them. I read that letting them get fairly dry before watering stirred root growth causing the plants to seek water. I read that on iCMag somewhere from one you many pot growing wizards.

Thanks for the tips Craven! (by the way, would you happen to have your own secret world that is really a prehistoric jungle somewhere hidden under the earth??)

The short squat fatty small ones on the right were much paler (Khali, Sour Diesel, and Carnival). With a dose of my magic (i don't know what i am doing but think this may be right TEA) they look noticeable darker (even with the lights on), which is all I wanted since paleness is yet a sign of nute deficiency. Thankfully I didn't screw up. There is a lot of luck involved in all this as well once a noob like me starts making decisions with feeding nutrients.

I pretty much let the soil dry out.

Do not let the soil dry out! Till the top and keep it moist. You can till with a fork that is bent at a 90%. and mist with a small sprayer.

You could also mulch the top of the soil with pine mulch. It help with watering and will also prevent so much moisture transpiration.
