ahhhhhhh the joy of snipe bidding on eBay!

My secret to winning at the ebay snipe .Is to never bid in even amounts .I believe that human nature is to bid in even increments.Like 10.50 11.00 12.00 0r 10.25 or 10.75 .

In the last 60 seconds i thow bids out like $13.66 or $67.78 .Never use a even amounts with 50 cents,30 cents or even dollar amounts .I can't tell ya how many times i have won by $1.67 or even 17 cents..

I got tired of watching such a great series being butchered on the A&E
network so I lucked out and sniped the complete DVD series for $71.00+/-

sopranos.jpg

the usual price varies from about $85 to $105, I chose an auction ending
@ 2:30am & set my alarm clock so as not to forget it. Now I'll be able to
enjoy it at my pace start to finish with every bit of the violence, nudity
and the language that was intended to give this show its cutting edge.......

and hell yeah, I also got free shipping w/this auction.

so who's been lucking out on their eBay buys lately? and for your
privacy's sake just don't be too specific on items/price/date etc,
my buy price above is off by a dollar or two +/- for that reason.

I have used snipers for most purchases. To the question of what if someone puts a high max bid to bid against you, don't know if this was covered BUT.

You set your max bid in the sniping software and it tosses your bid in the last couple seconds, ebay will automatically enter the other bidders next bid BUT then the sniping software will come back as well.

It is a roll of the dice BUT most times you end up winning because only 3-4 bids max will get recorded within the last couple seconds. Reason why I bid on 2-4 items and if I get a deal on one or all I win in the end BUT if I get out bid then so be it.

Sniping is really the only way, another way to win more is when those idiot sellers have their items ending at 3-4am and no one is around except the die hards. Usually those who bid on items ending in the middle of the night will just put a "max bid" before they go to bed and just pray. The sniping software usually wins the bid when in the last couple seconds.

Just bid what your willing to pay and leave it at that. Ebay will up your bid incrementally till it reaches your max amount.

and watch out for sellers with multi accounts bumping the price up and then sure enough once they reach your max suddenly the other bidder STOPS. Seen it too many times to do that.

Also bids that I do are 12.01 or .07 and so on. People are morons bidding $5, $10, $100 and so on. Look at completed auctions see how many even versus odd auction ending numbers there are. Really does help.

good point, referred to as 'shill bidding' it used to be easy to spot when they listed the bidders IDs, now they hide bidder IDs so it's nearly impossible to tell if that same member continues to bid on a certain sellers goods, I discovered a shill scam when I bid on some Vikings tickets and lost, then exactly 2 mins later I get a 'second offer' from the seller who tells me that the buyer has backed out....... and so am I to believe that in less than 2 mins he and the other buyer squashed their deal? NO WAY! I informed eBay, they did an investigation on bidding history & both were banned, they'd done the same thing to many other members by similar transactions.

EDIT:
I've gone back to have a look and one of the banned usernames is back in use.

sniping rocks!!!

i buy mostly musical equpment off of ebay>>>guitars, amps, parts,...etc and what not
and i usually only bid in the last 5-8 seconds or so, makes no sense to do it any earlier
so far i havnt really needed to use any sniping sofware

got a new 400w hps "advanced" ballast kit for $23 + $9 shipping a few weeks ago
...same kit from 1000bulbs.com is over $100 + shipping

...one thing i see sometimes is bidders that get caught up/carried away with "winning" the auction and end up paying too much, more than retail sometimes>>>that makes no sense to me at all

there's ton's of deals to be had if you know what you're doing and what you're buying

and yeah, whoever said about the "odd" number bids
>>>i use that and it does indeed work pretty good sometimes
won a few like that, got beat a few times that way too lol

I Bid on Auto Bidding at the get go!! so every time another bidder tries to out bid me my bid raises automatically and I am Guaranteed to Win as long as I set the $ amount to the limit I want to go as high as to out bid the other bidders so even if someone tries to snip the Item if theirs any Auto Bidders first they would win the Item 1st Hands Down.

My body has to many sniper bidders wounds lol ;)

I have several nice pieces of grow equipment. I learning this from an e bay live online chat help person and it works

I sniped myself an iPhone recently, it was the first time I had been on ebay in months. Waited until there was about 20 seconds left then :asskick:

:sasmokin:
they've got that fixed now, you cannot up your own bid unless another bid falls within the amounts you're bidding. I caught myself doing it (quite awhile ago) & complaining loudly to eBay who said "no refunds on those bids but we're fixing the software now" and of course they did.......

I've mastered the last second bid.
Always pisses me off when people get into to bidding wars with days to go on the auction, morons, you're just driving the final price that a sniper will pay up, you're not actually going to win it if a sniper wants it, so why waste the time.
Successful bidding is apparently a deep dark mystery for some folks

See something u like, put it in your watch list and wait for the final minute of the auction, figure out what the most you're willing to pay is, and enter it with seconds to spare.
If your bid is higher then others max, you will win with no chance for them to respond and up their bids, if you're under their max, then fine, that's why u decide the max you're willing to pay when u enter that last second bid.

I agree with Rez.
Anybody who bids on an item before the last minute or two is an idiot.
All you are doing is raising the final price by making other bidders try to beat you.
Bid late and bid low.
Retail is for suckers.

On another note, I watch items I'm interested in all the times, even if they have a starting price which I feel is too high. When the auction ends and the seller has no bids because of their high starting price, drop them an email asking about the item. I've picked up some nice stuff at $0.25 on the dollar after the auction by dealing directly with the seller. You are still protected by Paypal for these types of purchases.

popular items that sell over the weekend usually sell for more, look for those same items selling in the middle of the week & perhaps in the middle of the night or early morning for running into lots less snipers & bidders.

I'm after a custom knife by a brilliant maker but haven't been able to snipe one yet @ my price, even in this depressed economy his knives always get top $$$$$$$.......

= How To Win ANY Auction =
(By Rezdog & Common Sense)

1) Decide exactly how much the MAXIMUM will be that you are willing to pay.
<< Since this is something you really want,("at ANY cost",lol!) you want to bid HIGH. >>

2) With 7-10 seconds left, absolutely finalize your bid.

As long as your bid is suitably high, you'll win 100% of the time.
If you get "beat",then you didn't really "lose" anything- Your Maximum Bid was ALL you were willing to spend.

:thank you:

I've been getting killed the last couple of days and to top it off tonight I got beat in a dead even heat dollar wise but being as his/her bid was placed before mine it won as the tiebreaker. I lost 3 auctions in less than 24 hours to better bidders, I'm off my game.

All 3 items were for the same project & so now I'm wondering if it isn't a sign from above to forget about it for now.
