I practiced USTF TaeKwon-Do for years but unfortunately the school shut down. I figure I am too old to try out something new, but I really miss it. It helped with strength, balance and etc.

USTF (ITF) TaeKwon-Do. I practiced it for years but unfortunately the school closed and I figure I am too old to try something else. I miss it as I think it helped my balance and strength a bunch. I am a Medical user so that was important to me.

Hi:
Thanks for the link about the Shaolin Qigong workout. It looks like that might work for me. I live in the Denver area so I am going to check around and see what is around here. If nothing here I will try to get the book. I did one of my 2nd degree TKD patterns yesterday for a joke and I noticed I am very stiff, but that is it so there is hope I guess.

Bentom are you familiar with systema?
I had a chance to take about 6 months of informal lesson from one of the trainers at my gym, good stuff, kinda funny looking, but devastating.
The guy I took lesson from was in his late 50's at the time, and almost impossible for me to take down, and wrestling is my strong suit.
We used to spare and go at it pretty hard, that guy knocked me silly several times.

Here's a link with lots of clips

I wanted to see what you thought about it.

i just took a glance i do have to say it reminds me of tai chi a tiny bit because they do a similar training called sticking hands, unfortunatley i see flaws in the foundation of their foot work and low sensitivity to what his partner is doing, cause the old guy was in completley wrong position while stirking and the young guy had more than a few shots ,of course this is just one example and 2 practitioners, the old guy had some speed to him im just not certain on how much control he had, this is honestly why i stay with traditional style specificly chinese because they were perfected there, and the more a style strays away from the princaples ,it no longer becomes effective or as effective.
me thinks this guy is just trying to sell ya somthing, because in most of the vids he has no explination on what hes actually doing or the theroy behind it so thats kind of a give away.

It is very sloppy looking in person(systema) but the guy I took lessons from could move me around like nothing, and hit me from no where with these weird ass looping strikes.

My MA experience is no where near yours, so I can't really differentiate between good and bad styles like you, I was just pretty impressed with what I saw In the lessons I took.

The guy taught Kali too, I didn't mess with that as much as it just hurt all the time.
We would square off, I'd have my hands up, and the guy would strike me right on my closed fist, I'd pull my hand back and he'd punch me in the arm, I'd move my arm he'd and take another shot somewhere I didn't expect, and this just kept going till I gave up, lol.
