hey everyone, great thread. i've gone through the last 15 pages and i can't wait to go through the rest.
anyways, my question here (i'm sure it was answered at some point), i have about 5lbs of very good shake and i want to use most of that to make BHO. but to run that much tane is so time consuming and cases of butane. So what i would like to do is dry sift it all using dry ice then collect the kif and run it through my BHO tube like that. Is that advisable, or should i explore other options? If its a good idea, what type of yield should i expect?
I see someone has asked this question on another thread, but no clear answer was there. and since there is a lot of traffic here with some very knowledgeable people, i hope to get someone with some experience doing it like that.
thx in advance.

:good::good::yay: All i can say is wow, just got done with all 70 pages, felt like I was there for all 5 years of this discussion, I Can't wait to give this a go in a few months!! Thanks to everyone for the good info. I feel that after reading all that, making BHO is gonna be so easy. ( as long as you most importantly follow the safety guidelines. ) I'll post some pics in a few months... I'm sure this thread will still be around, great eye candy going through all 70 pages!

Long time no see folks, thanks for keeping the thread alive.

I guesss basically you are just wanting oil. I wouldn't advise turning to kief and then to oil considering time and energy to make it to kief first then use butane, that to me is even less cost effective.

hey chief! glad to see you around. just want to tell you that after a year and a half of the xtrator II i upgraded to the XL and love it! thanks bud. great work you do for the community.

so I just did my first run with Vector to see what all the hype is about... I see no difference in quality or yield. luckily I got it at wholesale price and didn't pay like $8 a can for it. seriously looking at and using my cheese wax made with King next to the cheese wax made with vector, there is zero difference. 3x or 4x refined is fine for me, I don't think I'll waste my money on vector again.

I feel the same way TickleMyBalls. What alternatives to vector do you suggest?

Also, I have a more general question for everyone. If I want to make consecutive batches of BHO should can I use the same pyrex dish over and over? Or should I switch pyrex dishes every batch? Would a large mirror work?

4X goes for 120 a carton here vs 360 a carton for Vector. I have never noticed a difference. The mirror test (for butane impurities) showed no difference either.

As for dishware - clean your stuff every time or the residue will contaminate your next batch. (A tiny bit of wax from left overs may make your next batch of bud amber look like alien ear goobers.)

what do you mean it will contaminate it?

Bad word maybe...

Every strain (and process) tends to turn out a tad differently. Humidity plays a big factor, too. I just meant that it would keep the next batch "cleaner" if your dishware were clean every time.

When I said contaminate - I meant it like when you use the same glass for milk that you just used for your coffee without rinsing. No biggie unless you're ocd.

WOW! What a post!
I'm only up to pg. 56 -LOL, but I'm impressed with all the different angles(?) covered in here. I'll be finishing the read.

Anyways, you guys talked me into a try.
Ordered a O'Keif yesterday and have everything else (I think).
Question;
I'll be wanting to do some small samples of a few different strains I have on hand and really only want to do like 1/2 - 1/3 tube to find my way.
Understand that a tube not filled is bad. Can I add some glass marbles to the material to fill the void in the tube by not being full? Would it matter really, and should I?

I've done the ISO and can't say I like it as much as I thought I would. Good hits, but the taste sux for my pallet.
However, there is a trick(?) I've found that works well for me in the corners of them square Pyrex dishes.
After scraping, add about 1/4 shot of Everclear to the dish and take a nice bud and use it to clean the corners of the dish with. Then just let it dry naturally and smoke the killer bud (works well on ISO anyways).

Most excellent thread!
Back to reading.... Thank you all.

I have a Honey Bee extractor and I got the bigger size. Anybody know how much material goes in and how much butane to use? Also, should I grind the buds or just let them be, the buds are not dense buds but not fluff either. I was told by the guy at the head shop that this model holds 56g if that helps anybody. Thanks in advance for helping a newbie. I am still reading through the thread so I hope I am an expert soon.

Hmmm, Looking at the above post I guess I may have a problem running this outside? It's only 24 - 30F deg.
I assume evaporation will be teediousely slow?
This will (would of) been my first BHO with a O'Keif (or first BHO period).
Perhaps I need to wait for warmer weather? Even with a hot water dish it could be a prob?

I'm so into comparing this with ISO. :thank you:

Chits,

Shred420 is right you shouldn't have a problem if you have a bath of hot water. I just made my first batch of ISO yesterday and it turned out decent. I also make BHO pretty consistently. Nothing compares to a nice shardy BHO.
