I have Lifebreather's cut of the NL from Female Seeds. Its good - very good - nice, sweet taste. But its not the same thing as what was called NL5 in the late 80s. Memory is, ahem, hazey, but thats one of them you'll never forget if you taste it. People saying it doesn't taste very well, I think had something different. Or else I was given something called NL5 that was actually better. Anyway, enjoy the hunt!

I think you had NL5xHaze....

NL5 (at least the real-deal pacific northwest NL5) is grape smelling (ranging from white grape to frozen grape concentrate) with a very slight but smooth and clean taste. We have it saved, it's very nice, but not as good as the strains that are overwhelming smelling and then the taste directly translates to smell.

I can vouch for the DANK that was bcsc's NL#5 in the days of heavens stairway-that was a long time ago though

Hi,

I have no idea of the northwest NL #5, but I can tell you I smoked what I believe to be NL #5 at Katsu in the 'Dam 3 years ago. I also saw seeds from Sensi Seed Bank of NL #5 at the time at a number of seed shops.

I think it is still in the 'Dam, but a clone from the northwest is more than likely better if you can get a hold of one.

Peace

HGF's is good.

I put sensi's at the bottom of the list, primarily because of cost. Ive grown and smoked several that are equal or superior to thiers but cost 1/3 of what they charge. There are much better deals.

merry krissxmas. e

(i heard 10-15 yrs ago that nl9 was a good one and sensi's nl5xhaze is awesome ,because of the nl5 no doubt, not nl)

MRHEADIE, I have this blue hashplant that has the exact same phenotype that those NL5 seeds from the western dead shows used to produce.this is the closest plant I've seen , physically speaking, phenotypically anyway...is this type of bud the kind you remember.Bear with meI just started growing this cut from a friend and I'm so stoked about it's old school looks I'm all worked up!!I have several pics to bore ya'll with and this is by no means a NL5 but it represents, I think what we used to trade for, 5 nitrous tanks for 100 seeds, I think that's what I used to pay....

i would steer away from the Doc's NL
Sagarmatha or MNS for sure
better yet-NL X Haze!

I've had nothing but bad luck with Sagamartha NL#9, tried 6 seeds, 3 failed to pop, one runt, one hermie (very stress sensitive), 1 male....very disappointed considering the reputation and price...
On the lookout for a decent NL.
Had previously tried Homegrown Fantaseeds NL and it was quite good (but 4 seeds were crushed during shipping...)

Good to see you still here e4ian nice pics. Personally I dont think any of the Northern Lights strains are as good as the old ones the intense smell seems to have been bred out.

Okay believe it or not, the best pure one you are gonna get right now for the best price is the Nirvana Northern Lights. I had a really good experience with them in the past very clone-like and strong fast growing plants and they are pure incrosses of Sensi's NL #5. For the price you can't go wrong. Bog's Bogglegum also has very heavy NL phenos in it that are almost beast like and super grapey with plenty of frost. ;)

Just checked the boo..seems that they do have Sensi's NL in stock also :canabis:

I remember Bog talking about the NL#5 that he used in the Bogglegum.

He said that he had tossed out a pitiful, wilted cutting of the NL onto his compost pile with some other plant debris.

Several days later, he was shocked to find that the cutting had rooted and was standing tall in his compost pile.....lol.... he said the cut had crazy vigor and rooted like a dream.

I currently have a few Bogglegum seedlings on the go, trying to find a frosty, heavy, fast finishing lady. I know she's in there somewhere!

When I ran the Bogglegums in the past the ones with the really huge dark Indica fan leaves and smaller dense calyx clusters that took longer to flower were the most NL leaning and super potent & grapey after drying & curing but had a hard to place funk in the background that you could smell across the room when you opened the bag. Big yielders too I think they were like 3 to 3.5 z's each in 3 gallon pots with soil. That was untopped and flowered at like 36" tall with CO2 under 600 Hortilux's. :canabis:

The original cut(s) are still being passed around the PNW. If you can get a cut of "Seattle Blue" you will have something closer to the classic PNW NL lines of old imo. With that said, x has the closest thing I've seen to the orignal cut in seed form.
