As a farm boy, in 1968 i stared at a bag of mexi brick and wondered if the seeds in it would grow in Ky. I found out the next summer and have been growing guerilla outdoor ever since then. Raised by coonhunters, i love the wilderness and the dark still all of these years later

My wife is saying no more growing! Im 64 now and last year i fell twice and 1 of those got me a concusion and 14 stitches. She's afraid i will fall or have a heart attack or stroke out in the middle of know where without cell service and die.

Im telling her that there are worse ways to die than dieing while doing what you love and that sometimes death isnt the worst thing that can happen to a person. She's kicking and screaming NO"

She also says they can take my SS check if i were to get caught. Is that true? any advice?

INDO

ok that might not be a possibility

I have noticed that as some of my friends age they refuse to use the wisdom they have built up in replacement of the bodies that are worn down

i say this just to put it out there, are you refusing to change how you do this cause you don't want to accept aging?

is there a middle of the road where you can have your grow and stay safe?

if i recall Silverback R.I.P. died working on his gardens.

maybe smaller plants.plots using more subterfuge in easier to access spaces than going off to those secret spots youve grown to love

maybe save those deep trips into the woods for just trips in the woods and bring someone along with you so your wife is ok an dyou still get to commune with nature

you dont need to grow pot in the deep woods to have a reason to go into em

good luck

time to teach a younger apprentice.........and live vicariously..... threw there exploits.....

or got indoor.............and enjoy the ride..............

AND too answer the question........YES they can take U'r benefit check........

straight from the SS web site........

http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10133.html

What happens to my benefits when I am in prison?

If you are receiving Social Security, your benefits will be suspended if you are admitted for more than 30 continuous days to a jail or prison because you were convicted of a criminal offense. Your benefits can be reinstated starting with the month following the month you are released.
Although you cannot receive monthly Social Security benefits while you are confined, benefits to your spouse or children will continue as long as they remain eligible.

If you are receiving SSI, your payments are suspended while you are in prison. Your payments can be reinstated in the month you are released. However, if your confinement lasts for 12 consecutive months or longer, your eligibility for SSI benefits will terminate and you must file a new application for benefits.

Can I get my benefits started when I am ready to be released?

If your Social Security or SSI benefits were suspended because you were in prison, you can request that they be started. You will need to contact Social Security and provide a copy of your release documents before we can take action on your request.

Example: George was receiving Social Security disability benefits. He was convicted and confined to prison on May 15, 2007, and his benefits were suspended effective with May 2007.
On October 10, 2009, George was released and his benefits were reinstated effective with November 2009. Since Social Security benefits are paid in the month following the month for which they are due, George will receive his November benefit in December.

Example: Sam was receiving SSI disability benefits and was confined to prison on June 7, 2009. He was released on September 7, 2009. His SSI can be reinstated as of September 7. Sam will be eligible for a partial payment for September and full benefits for October.

If you were not receiving either Social Security or SSI benefits before you went to prison or your SSI benefits were terminated, you will need to file a new application for benefits if you think you may be eligible. You should contact Social Security for more information about filing a claim for benefits. You will need to provide proof of your release from prison, in addition to a new application and other documents.

NOTE: We cannot start your benefits until you are actually released. And we must have your official release documents from the jail or prison where you were confined. Please remember to bring your release forms when you visit your local Social Security office. This will help us get your benefits started more quickly.

You're a youngster, plenty of OD left in you yet.
Just wear one of those neck beepers the old folks have, that way if you take a tumble, you can just hit the button, and call for help, just like in the commercial.
"I've fallen, and I can't get up!!!!!"

How about a satellite phone special for the OD, something that always gets a signal no matter where it is.
Or wear a GPS tracking device, if you're not home at a certain time, the wife can track you down with the GPS

I think im probably part of the first generation of retirees from pot growing. but Im only old in the evenings and on 100 degree days. Im much younger in the early morning and on cooler days.

A young "partner" would be great and Ive been trying to find one for years, but ive arrived at the understanding that the number of people in the world not afraid of the dark, hard work or jail that can also keep a secret only to themselves and one other person must be very small. I cant find one.

Indoor is different and more dangerous for the family.

The comprimise? thats my hope. I have a teency weency problem here. See, she didnt want me to grow last year, but i told her," i'll just grow in spots close to civilization-easy
to get too". I fell going down a rocky slope 50' from the road. This is hillbilly country.

Im terrible at bald faced lieing or id try that.

Too be honest Id forget about trying to find an apprentice and figure out some way of growing indoor. Indoor is riskier for sure, but no matter how loyal they seem up front, unless its a son, daughter or trusted niece/nephew an apprentice will eventually screw you over.

64 is also not that old...of course it depends on your lifestyle history..

Also, Im assuming you get a yearly physical from a doctor, if you dont set one up and tell him you spend alot of time hiking and camping and want to make sure you dont have any health problems that could interfere with that.

Edit: The satellite tracker/phone sounds like a fantastic idea. These can be expensive, but could be a worthwhile investment.

Sat phone is good anywhere, you can make calls from the top of
Mt. Everest(seen it done on TV)
Not so sure about GPS, but I thought they pulled there signal from a satellite as well.

I'll look around a bit online for you, see if I can find something inexpensive that would suit your needs

Edit: Here's a listing for satellite phones on EBAY, spendy, but you can call from ANYWHERE

Hey Toker, just show her all the things that the weed paid for over all those years. She'll change her tune. My wife caught me many years ago, and again just this past year she found some curing in my shed...she just said "I know what you're up to. You've been a bad boy". She left it alone, and that's the last I heard of it.

Go indoor gets my vote - wall off a portion of basement (or garage, even better), and putter away there...

64 is young - 60 is the new 40 - but concerns about falling cannot be overlooked.

Plse don't endanger your life, or your time with the Mrs.

I totally agree D.S., ddrew came up with some really good ideas there. But my vote would be for you to build yourself a small scale, personal use cab, stealth, indoor. Plenty of good info right here on this site too. A two or three plant, perpetual, grow by us old dudes you wouldn't think would be worth being hassled by the pigs, and it would still furnish you with plenty of great bud.

And it is so much fun, is a great hobby and that's supposed to be a good thing for us older dudes too. Still ,actually, any felony conviction, meaning any cultivation, in most places, is grounds to lose SS, so rule #1 is very, very important.

Some risk in whatever you choose I'm afraid. Good luck.

44 years of OD growing.....wow!Much respect to you sir.

Asking someone to stop doing what they have done for 44 yrs is a hard pill to swallow. But she does have valid reason also......love.I'm guessin she is a toker also?

Indoor is about HER only option i guess when ya get down to the nitty gritty, that is if you 2 want smoke.

Fuck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tell her you guys are moving to FL,we ain't got shit for you to fall off or down!Problem solved.

I empathize with both you and the mrs.

She has a right to be worried, especially because you have fallen a few times in the past. You have a right to want to grow. It's euphoric in itself and easily becomes a sanctuary. My friend said "it gives my life purpose."

I don't know anything about KY but just from the "Marijuana USA" video, police in KY loathe Cannabis and heavily enforce it. I don't know what you mean by indoor growing being dangerous to the family. In my opinion, growing outdoors is risky. Indoors the only way you can get popped is if you tell somebody and/or you have ridiculously bad luck.

A friend of mine was found dead next to his boat (on land) after he´d been fishing -he loved nature and the sea so it was the best for him.

I hope I die out in the great outdoors, the worst that could happen is to wallow in my own piss for years and years...

Give the wife a hug -she obvioulsy wants you around- and get on with what you love, be it what it may.

a small grow cab, filtered for smell and burning a small hps (400w) can yeild 8-10 zips per 3 month cycle. its the kind of thing you can throw a blanket over if you get worried.

I was very lucky to learn from my grandad when i was a young man, and to help him in his garden as he got ill. now my dad is in his late 60's and I am glad I have a chance to help him as well. Dunno what the old man would do if he couldnt grow, we moved to the west coast some years ago so he could grow without fear after his cancer popped up.
i'm sure your wife understands the depth of your relationship with ganja, there has to be room for a reasonable compromise. it seems so tragic that you cant have a little herb tree in your backyard...
mebe you can make due with a secret in your closet, and a walk in the woods from time to time.
best of luck to you!

Could be wrong but i think theres a big difference between the OD vs ID.Busted with a gro in the house you might as well kiss it all good bye.OD is gonna be alot easier to get away with "i don't know what the fuck that is" where if it's in your house what the hell ya gonna say?......"i don't know what the fuck that is" might not cut it.

ID brings it to the family. You now put others at risk. But you do have a good point about tellin peeps.

5 days ago....me an 2 peeps are standing 10 feet from my grow...cop pulls in driveway...me about shit meself....cop gets out and asks"is this address so in so".....no sir,i think that is down the road some that way......ok,thanks and you guys have a good night.

The simple every day shit can be "bad luck"
