Vaporizers?

I can't imagine why anybody would bother to use the fan with the whip. It's necessary for filling bags, but running the fan while using the whip? What would be the benefit of that?

fan makes it easier, it doesn't feel like your sucking on a straw. I put the fan on speed 1 while I leisurely toke away. easier to get thicker hits. also less or no need to preheat the weed. you can just watch the stream of vapor in the elbow and inhale accordingly, maintaining a thick flow of vapor.

* I use the elbow pack method in the whip at 170-175C

If I try for "heavy" vapor it feels like I´m just getting smoke. I´ve been using 175C for vaping but maybe I should go higher? The weed is spent after toking at 175 but the vapor is quite thin and very fragrant.

Without a fan there is no way to regulate the temperature of the air.

The Iolite is pretty cool....portable:)

I agree it is cool. It is one of my favorite portable vaporizers mostly for it's stealth. It doesn't look anything like smoking. If anything, it looks more like drinking through a straw. Just swallow after each hit.

It isn't my daily vaporizer because it has so much resistance to air flow that it is almost like sucking peanut butter through a straw, refilling the butane is messy, and the bowl is very small and cumbersome to refill.

I am much more likely to rely on edibles when I need stealth. The other portable vaporizer I have looks like a wood pipe and relies on the flame of a cig lighter for the hot air. It is very low tech. I don't have to wait for anything to warm up. When I run out of butane, I can get a Bic lighter anywhere. A can of butane is harder to find when you are away from home in the middle of the night.

If its hard to inhale without the fan, check your screen. It may need cleaning. I find that the inhalation circuit on the extreme offers very little resistance, unless the screen is getting clogged.

As far as this idea is concerned, I just don't understand what you mean. I use my extreme without the fan all the time. There's a microprocessor that keeps the temperature at an even level. It works quite well without the fan.

When you inhale the rate of airflow varies. That affects the temperature of the air because the longer it stays near the heating element, the hotter it gets. AFAIK, the microprocessor can't predict how you will breathe nor can it adjust the temperature of the heating element fast enough to compensate for changes in the rate of airflow even if it could predict it.

I just ordered some stuff from Growshop Alien but it´s been 10 days and so far nothing. They aren´t answering emails either. I´ve bought from them before and everything worked out -should I be worried?

I just heard from the Dopefiend's podcast that you can throw in a few glass beads into the chamber of the Iolite with your herb and it enhances the high. Has anyone tried that yet? I'm gonna give it a go as soon as I get some glass beads. I suppose the heat is distributed more evenly throughout the chamber. There's really no other reason I can think of that would cause this to enhance the high.

I received an Extreme Q not to long ago, and I really like it. It's my first vaporizer, and is the only one I've ever tried, so I can't compare. Azier seems like a good company. Smoking to me now just seems sort of Neanderthal stone-age-ish behavior, its kind of funny.

I don’t miss smoking at all. I tried smoking some time ago after only vaping for a while, and it was kind of weird/different. Vaporizing, it seems has diminished my feeling of the need to smoke completely, and my "cravings" to get high have diminished significantly. I dunno, sometimes it kinda feels like I am cheating, Though I really do get off on the fact that I don't smoke anymore. I llove the effect vaping has, long lasting, goodness, nice and gentle on the voice box. Exploding ticklish feeling erupting -

Just the other night I hooked up the E-Q to a new water filtering device, which makes the vapor a lot smoother, easier to handle..

Every med patient would benefit from a quality vape I imagine.

Piel-IMO the glass beads aren't worth the hassle. The beads take up room in the chamber that could be used for more weed.

Yeah, the chamber in the iolite is so small that I can't imagine reducing it even more.

I spent last week traveling, so I took my iolite with me and was glad I had it, but I never use it at home. I prefer the Volcano here. The bigger chamber is one of the reasons.

The Extreme Q

The Extreme Q

I'm new to this forum, but it looks like I don't have to tell anyone that if you are still smoking -- get a life! (literally -- smoking is the dumbest thing imaginable; Sorry Jack Herer (an old and very dear friend of mine -- I knew everyone), but smoking will kill you. Most smokers don't even know what a cannabis high is! All they know is the peculiar toxic effect you get from mixing cannabis with all the toxic junk that comes with smoke. They measure how high they are by how stupid they feel.

But, as I say, I don't have to give that rap to this enlightened audience! Also, it looks like I don't even have to mention that the Extreme Q, by Arizer in Canada, is the State of the Art. Vaporizers have come a long, long way since Marc Emory's Cannabis Cafe (or even the much better designs available in Amsterdam).

But as for having them shipped to Europe, why not get them direct from Arizer, the manufacturer? (arizer.com) They shipped one to me here in Southeast Asia (where I am now living the good life in comfortable retirement), no problem at all! Shipping cost was surprisingly moderate, and it arrived in less than the two weeks they promised. Absolutely fabulous, and great customer service. They even include spare parts!

As far as vaporizer performance is concerned, it is all about the precision of the temperature control, and the Extreme Q is just faultless in that respect. One tip: resist the urge to "crank it up"! I use it on the very lowest of the pre-set settings, and if the bowl is hot, I drop it 5 degrees less than that! You want the lowest effective setting, such that it takes a while to get the full virtue from the material you are using. If you want a quick and sudden blast, you will not only quickly destroy all but a tiny portion of available THC, but you will also just fill your lungs with that toasty taste which is the indication that you have torched your stuff. Take it slow, to get the best experience, and don't be in such a rush! If you use it properly, you really won't have long to wait.

People who insist on cranking up the heat on their vaporizer probably drink "Berekely coffee" too -- over-roasted beans. Don't you know that over-roasted coffee beans have less caffeine? The heat just burns out any taste and everything. A medium to "Full City" roast is the way to appreciate a gourmet cup of coffee (of course, I roast my own green coffee beans; sorry to be off-topic --ever read "Grandfather's Old Ram" by Mark Twain? Hilarious!)

Just comes with the territory when an old geezer gets rambling . . .

Pangloss- I just checked out their website. This Extreme Q looks awesome. How does it compare to a Volcano (other than being less expensive)?
