Is eating meat like playing russian roulette

Yeah,Wild game is alot better for you, but Im not big on killing mammals, like someone said earlier, but birds, Im fine with....as far as beef and pork, My uncle is a farmer, so my pops and I, get 1 cow and 1 pig each year, all fed organics, no chemicals or steroids...Also another uncle of mine is a butcher, so he cuts and packages it all up....honestly, the pork and the beef are way better tasting than any store/restaurant, and seriously, its cheaper too....WAY Cheaper....not to mention the health benefits of not eating the nasty booster chemicals and preservatives that are found in all store bought meats these days...

As far as not eating meat...That is crazy.....If I couldn't get the "clean" beef and pork products I get, I would still go for the store bought, or eat more wild game...Meat is to good not to eat....

All this talk of meat is making me hungry....how bout a bacon cheeseburger? Yum Yum...Yum Yum....

I have seen the documentary Food Inc. and it was quite the eye opener. Despite the disgusting things I saw and learned about, I do still eat meat from time to time.

Do I think about all the hormones and other crap (literally) that is probably in the meat? Yes I do. Do I understand that it can have both positive and negative effects on my body? Yes. Will criticizing another person's eating habits help change anything? No.

In a nutshell the demand side has to demand changes. Then the supplier will have to change its ways to meet the market demand. The interview with the farmer at the end of Food Inc. is the answer.

Then again it's just my opinion. I like dead animals. They taste nice.

In terms of net risk, do the math yourself: how many people die from eating industry manufactured meat each year? Some, but very few. If you want to make a slow death argument by way of a variety of factors (heart disease, namely), you still can't vilify beef, or meat. You can vilify a lifestyle.

A little of topic but how bout the story in the news yesterday....about the Genetically Engineered Salmon...they grow twice as fast as the Atlantic Salmon, i believe The Atlantic Salmon and another saltwater fish (Pout Fish?) and an eel where used in making this creation... I hope I have my facts correct..its very close if not..But that shit scares the shit out of me, they also said, that they (The sellers) do not have to tell you that you are eating the GE Salmon vs the Atlantic Salmon (natural)...So in a couple of years if you order salmon at a restaurant or a super market, you wont know what you are eating...FUCK THAT!

I see what your saying but i'm not trying to show how many people die each year from industry meat, though I surely wouldnt want to be a meat industry statistic. This is not a "slow death argument" , mainly stating that industry meat is pumped with hormones, hormones make things grow and cancer is a growth. Just an observation

Why do you think everyone is diabetic now! it's what's in the food. They add shit to make people have medical problems. It's a billion dollar industy. The FDA is corrupt as anything. They control the drugs and food we consume. All they have to do is add certain hormones and preservitives to food and people are going to consume it not matter what. I don't care how healthy you think you eat you are shoveling something that is bad for you in your mouth everyday. I'm a meat eater but I usually go with a more better meat cuts but I still eat some stuff that has added stuff. It's a joke when you think about it. It's kind of like tobacco it's another way to control the population. People get medical problems and are locked into their little game. Now cancer, diabetes, obesity, autism, etc.. are more and more common these days.

when I'm in the States I only eat fish while out as your meat is fucking awfull.
your milk is fowl too. Why on earth do they mess with it so much? milk the cow pasturise it job done.

Organic & free range is the way to go but it does cost that bit extra so you cant expect every one to be able to afford these items. I am lucky as I live in a country where I can go to my local butcher & he can tell me the farm where the anaimal has come from, I grow a lot of my own veg apart from spuds as they are cheap to buy.

As long as people continue to buy it they will supply it.

i consider myself pretty much a carnivore. before peoples panties get bunched, yes i eat my veggies too, but meat is so much more tasty! i guess that doesnt make me a PURE carnivore, but im close enough dammit. if i had the time and space to raise my own i would. since i dont i eat what i can get and dont have a problem with it.

Well, can we all agree that eating meat is completely unnecessary and selfish and brings a lot of pain to the world unnecessarily? I get my panties in a bunch when my friend tries to wax poetic about how "we're all just animals," as though that's somehow a rational defense for eating meat. Meat consumption is terrible for the environment, causes poor animals to go through terrible lives cut short by a (usually) inhumane death, and is not a necessary part of our diet. In fact, for most of us it seems red meat in particular is bad news due to a substantial correlation with heart disease.

I consume meat anyway, because I don't particular care about any of these things.

It is commonly accepted among scientists that without meat, Australopithecus would not have evolved into homo erectus. Maybe we can survive without meat now, but we wouldn't even be here without it, in evolutionary terms.

Relevant too in this respect are archaeological findings showing that caries (tooth decay) occurred much in groups of humans whose diet contained grains, and very little in those who mainly ate meat. This confirms that human teeth were originally adapted to eating meat, and therefore that humans were meat-eaters of origin. Source

Let's get facts straight. Can we all agree that there's nothing wrong with eating meat, and that we are all omnivores?

But, yeah, pumping the meat full of chemicals to make it grow faster is not ideal.

I stopped eaten beef few months ago and porc already a few years.Only eat organic chicken and more fish (sardines & wild salmon).

In Europe hormone use is not allowed, but the animals get other shit to eat like food contaminated with antibiotics, GMO (soy, corn).

Most meat & fish is contaminated nowadays with all kinds of stuff.Tuna is contaminated with Mercury, pork with MRSA bacteria, beef can be contaminated with BSE etc.Till now organic food is safe but for how long (Codex Alimentarius).

Namaste :plant grow: :canabis:

We are not carnivores, also not herbivores, but omnivores so we need both, but there are good replacements for meat like hemp seed (contains all 8 essential amino acids + vitamins + minerals + essential fatty acids like Stearidonic acid) , Quinoa (Iron, Magnesium, Calcium, Copper, essential amino acids), Amaranth (same as Quinoa), eggs (B12, vit D, Sulphur).Never stop to eat wild sea fish, not farmed, because not only for the fatty acids, but also the minerals which you have in sea water.Sure the use of unrefined sea salt is also better than refined salt which is the main cause of high blood pressure.

To much red meat is playing with your health, because it is not so easy to digest and it contains a high amount of Haem/Heme.A lot of this stuff causes colon cancer.

Namaste :)

I am one of the omnivores who eats mainly vegetarian and vegan food. Yes, I do sometimes eat meat (few times a year) and I also eat fish (once or twice a month avarage I guess). Most often the food I prepare myself is vegan, but I do use dairy products and eggs too. I order organic foods once every month from local producers and get my eggs from there. We usually use 20 or 30 eggs in a month between me and my girlfriend (plus who ever comes for dinner). Milk I buy perhaps a liter or two per month and usually organic. I must say I do eat too much cheese though. Ok, now I´m rambling. Anyway... I use very little meat because of the factory farming thing that is going on. I do not think eating meat is wrong, but I do believe torturing animals all their life is wrong. Also, it degrades the quality of the meat so low, that eating it is not all that enjoyable anymore. I prefer to cook tasty and filling vegetarian foods... No rabbit food for me (well I really do enjoy the greens too).

speak of the Quinoa we use it, they have a couple different types, I think the other one isnt ground up.

I love quinoa. Red quinoa is my favourite and white is a good substitute for couscous in many recipes. Delicious and healthy. :shark:

I got spoiled from childhood, having a father who was an OG Butcher, then living near a Black Angus steer farm and getting meats fresh...yum.

I'm not a HUGE fan of red meat, but I do enjoy the occasional filet or Porterhouse.

Consequences be damned :tiphat:
