When lights came on today I got a look at the young ladies and they are showing no signs of stress.

Lookin good. I just stripped the leaves off of my crop. It's really obvious the point where penetration of light falls off. When removing the leaves that lowers further down the plant. I can see the results. Now I see no stress but I believe they slow down a bit.

I did it at day -1 day 14 and finally day 21.

I think it would seem like a "non-defoliated" would have larger colas. The plant with a denser canopy is going to put more energy into just those upper colas instead of distributing it throughout the plant. Well, that's what I'm thinking anyways :D

I have always plucked fans but never ever like this lol. But something like defoliation, (something that would change the way I grow significantly) I feel is an experiment I want to try ASAP. That way I can move onto other improvements.

Cabinet is looking good gdbud, real nice.

Week 5

Week 5

So I got home today after being out of town for a week and the plants are looking great.
The Lady Berry's are putting on weight it does look like my PH is low and the tips of the leaves are showing it by having a little curl at the tips of the leaves.
When I left the nutes were running at about 1300 ppm and I was concerned that it might be a little high, But after looking at them when I got home I see that the plants are loving it.

The defoliation really seems to have help to get the light to the lower bud sites which is what I was trying to do.

I have found that by growing a large plant in a small space like a cabinet the plant can not naturally spread out, So we need to change the way the plant behaves so that every bud site gets the light it needs to developer.

For me I have used the SCROG and defoliation method to accomplish this and it seems to have done job that I was looking for.

Yeah bro, it really seems to have done what you were looking for. Have you thought about getting additional light down there with some T5 underlights? You'd want to wait until bud development was well on its way, I'd think. Just so you don't cause the plant to put a lot of energy into producing lower budsites early on. But if you just lit up the buds already there with some T5s, I wonder how that could turn out.

BC Northern Lights grow cabs claims they get a "33%" (yeah right, but still...) increase in yield out of their cabs with the "T5 underlighting upgrade".

I thought about install PL lights, But I'm rethinking that now.
After proper training under the SCROG this time the bud sites are at the screen.

While talking to my wife tonight she happened to say that my carbon filter is not working the room is stinking really good. So the first thing I'm going to have to do when I get home is to replace my home made filter with a can33 filter. I think it will fit with the space I have to work with.

If you're going to be traveling lots, you might consider buying a big ona block and leaving it with your wife, unopened, to use in case of future filtration failures.

I was going to pick up some ONA last weekend but with only one day off I ran out of time.
And it looks like might be working this Sunday so I will not be home for a few more weeks.
I wonder what the room is going to smell like when I get home?

Today is day 49. Since I have not been home for the last two weeks I do not have much to up date. My wife is currently taking care of my plants and she keeps telling me that they are doing fine and the buds are getting larger.

I'm on day 49 in my room too :D

Everything's looking pretty good..... bummer about the smell. My can 66 starts havin problems about week 6.... usually the raising humidy and then a rainy day and it starts to smell outside so I've been running the dehuey during the day iof the RH gets about 50%.

You can get the single T5 strip lights in 2 ft for like $30.

You know what your garden is missing is the BBK, BMR and LVPK :D

I'm rockin the defoliation too...... def extended the penetration a bit but it's allowed things to get fatter ... lower. Where it fell off appreciably I striped everything. The buds are more stacked with larger crowns.

Lookin good man, don't know how you can be away from your garden without going crazy.

Thanks GS,
Like you I'm hoping to be able to sampling this around Halloween.
Come trick or treat at my house and you might get a nice treat.
I would like to use PLL's that way I can place the ballasts in the mechanial space and keep the heat out of the grow space.
BBK, BMR and LVPK??? since I only grow one strain at a time which one? Inny meeny minny mo.
I am going crazy.
I keep asking my wfe how my plants and the only report I get is. There fine, they look good. You know me I enjoy my plants and I like to talk and brag about them and now the only thing I have to report about them at this time is "There fine, they look good"
Yes it's driving me crazy.

It's just brutal with the wives innit? Everything looks great! lol Just like when I ask her what she thinks of a strain and she always says "It's great" can't tell me flavor, can't describe it... just gets her high and needs to taste good lol

She can spot nanners on a plant though.... I give her the tweezers the other night and she picked 15 off that I missed :D I gotta cut that hermie black down lol

Yeah it's hard to say what strains you would like.... only a couple plants would make it a mofo to choose strains lol

great updates gd

I am doing some defoliation on my girls as well. Right now we are in between a move and why my grow show hasn't popped up yet. Always something goes down but have a new camera and going into a bigger grow area which will help.

I am running the lbk's right now and loving some of the phenos. Some have too much internode stretch for myself personally BUT some are nice and tight which I am diggin

great genetics for sure!
