What's new

2010 outdoors,

did some checks today, a huge kc in a test site that i haven't checked on in weeks turned out to be male, nothing close by to pollinate though, i also saw some of the other ggvdps and typhoon all well into flowering, some of the ggvdps are way faster than others though.

started giving some horsetail tea, good for silica

Sounds like great news Tonto, shame about the male tho.

Have you any idea which of the strains was the first to flower and roughly when?

Mixed news for me today, leaking pipe caused damage to the floors in the house and I have the insurance guy coming in the next 2 weeks.
Outside plants may have to come down early :(

Good news is that my little cross is female :)

Anybody know of a good place to buy a small polytunnle?

Hi Cookie monster,
.
One good idea I got from DoubleJJ is to purchase a portable garage from Costco or someplace that sells them wholesale
They have 12 x 20 frames for less than $200
You can add either plastic or greenhouse fabric to extend the season a bit and protect them.

Anyone tell me what is wrong with this plant, leaves are turning all blochy with rusty coloured spots from bottom up and dying??? What do I need to do to fix it?

Wouldn't be at all surprised if we did get a light frost, season is turning pretty quick, I think we're a month or so away from any really damaging cold weather tho.

I had nice results by drying out the buds completly and then passing the lot over a wire screen mesh a few times.

all this talk of seeded bud, :wallbash:

checked today and looks like ill be getting some kc33 v typhoon seeds

Hope we didn't jinx you Tonto

Was it a hermi or rogue male that did the damage?
Smoked plenty of seeded bud in the lean times between harvests, some of it was pretty ok.

My lot had an early chop, insurance fella had to come to the house to assess a claim...place had to be de-weeded indoors n out.

Should have a nice amount of material to hash once it's dry :)

pollen from a male i thought was pulled just in time a while ago :noway:

sorry to see you pulled your plant, pretty damn big, unfortunately im pretty much writing my stuff of aswell not going to be near it for a long time and would expect most of it to be mold when im back, might be able to scrape something from the typhoons and ggvdp though.

Sucks about having to pull the plants early. My typhoons are the plants that seem most suitable to the irish climate that I have outdoors. Had 3 well into flowering but one got snapped at the base of the stem. It was a damn thick stem aswell. They seem to have excellent mold resistance, Ill post about the potency when there pulled.

Chargers and a mystery canadian where all well finished mid-late august but due to the terrible july and august they where hit by the mold and yielded low. I must have yielded an ounce and a half from 3 plants. It is VERY strong though so not to bad.

Flatland has only just started to flower now and is topping 8 foot. Hopefully it gets time to finish. Gunna be mid-october before its ready. I also have 1 outdoor canadian which is only just showing signs of flowering and is in a bad state.

Gunna grow alot more next year and now deffinetly believe a good outdoor strain can be found or bred to be grown outdoors on the island. For earlyness and mold resistance the Danish strains seem to be where we should look.

Goodluck with the tail end of the season everyone. Ill get pictures up soon.

Im also gunna give a winter auto-seedrun a shot with the chargers in the polytunnell.

Grizzly good to hear from ya..
Ah it doesn't suck that much bro, test run of hash was quite plesant.

Typhoons are one of the strains a fair few of us irish lads seem to be trying, when did yours begin to flower?

Nice idea about the winter seed run but you may need to heat the soil I'd imagine?

Nice and very true point about the Danish bred strains, the early ones will finish for sure...roll on next may :)

been getting near biblical levels of rainfall over the last 3 days, according to country file ill
be getting close to a week of it, think ill check out some mold threads :puppydoge

It's feckin bucketing down the past few days here too, low temps n rain wont help with the mould.

Time to give the girls another spraying me thinks.

went to a plot today, my earliest ggvdp had molded over, did some hacking but i think ill go back tomorrow and harvest some small early bud (better than nothing).

typhoons didnt have a bit of mold and the kc33 are coming along fast and mold free also,

afghan nigerians in the last couple of weeks have started stretching like crazy, think ill be waiting along tim before i get anything though

So i`m not the only one that waches it ! their long range weather forecast is usually pretty good , one reason a lot of farmers watch it , Ellie Harrisons thighs may be the other !!!
Had a fair bit of rain here to but nothing as heavy as Eire . Hell of a lot of my plants are just beginning to come into decent flower so i`m not too worried about mould yet & any bad bud goes in the freezer then the Bubble bucket . Fingers x`d for all of us .

Stay green .

I think i remember you metioning you did a greenhouse grow overwinter in an unheated greenhouse. Did you do anything special?

Im thinking of putting a small plastic shelfing greenhouse inside the polytunnell and trying a seedrun inside. I havent got anything to lose. Undecided on whether to use the chargers or the diesel ryders though at the moment.

I only finished off a very late flowering sativa , i have never tried popping seeds or growing canna in the winter . Im not so sure how you`d get on with the light levels needed for growth , if that were sorted out then it could be possible if the seedlings were propogated & then they`d need bottom heat . Best way for that would be soil warming cables with a soil thermostat in a raised box , & the best medium for that would be sharp sand because if it`s kept lightly damp it will hold the heat then pots on that . An awful lot of plants can take cool heads as long as the roots are warm , then you`d need ventilation coz plastic will run with water on the walls .

Sounds like alot of unnesessary hassle. think ill just get the tent and light up over winter for and indoor seed-run instead.
