Nice! I caught one of his shows when he was in my city a while ago, I was thinking of offering a toke after the show but it was so busy with people getting pictures I just fucked off...which I have regretted ever since. I listen to his podcasts religiously, he's one smart mofo, he really sees shit as it is.

ya, it was dna kushberry. when he gets done with his show and is taking pics with people, just open your jar and put it in his face, thats what i did. me and 3 friends ended up in his limo, super blazing it up, double parked, in a busy downtown city.....

You gotta run beneficials in these Bubbler/RDWC type systems. And don't have any small lines that can clog.
I'm running GH 3 part with Aquashield, Sub-B, H&G Root Excel, & FloraBlend compost tea or Botanicare Pure Blend compost tea. No SM-90, No H2O2, No Bleach, No Physan! My plants love it and I don't get rot or algae! The compost tea does stain your roots a bit, but if you tug on 'em they are healthy and strong. I also think this is where the flavor is at in these MPB systems. These additives don't clog up your system, however, Sub-M will, and so will any of the Floralicious, Sweet, FloraNectar, molasses, etc. I don't add any of that!!

How long have you been running this nute mix?
On my 4th bloom cycle now. I only add the beneficials in the start of flower, and let them colonize and thin out over the cycle. I do fresh water add backs, adjust ppms & pH, and I'll occasionally throw in 8 or 16 oz of Aquashield through out the cycle.

i also have 6 4 ft kryptonite in the mpb room.
im my other room, im running all coco again. strains include my lavender, g-13, schnazzleberry, c-99, and several other that i will post once i remember what they are......running less plants this round was way to hard to water last time.....

My 2cents to hydroponics (take it or leave it):
Don't use anything organic (sugars included)
Don't use any bacteria, except B. Subtillis, hydroguard from Botainicare
Don't use air stones, as they clog up with nutrients and house bacteria... plus I don't like spending money on replacing them. Open ended tubes work wonderfully.
Use a good synthetic nutrient line. GH, AN, H&G, ect
Use a good enzyme solution for dead root breakdown; Hygrozyme, Sensizyme, ect.
Keep water temps around mid 60's
Change the res every 2 weeks
Use RO water
Check ppm and PH everyday; Ph to low, generally ppm to high and conversely.

I know you don't use Co2, but if you do, Co2 will actually lower the ph of your water if the air pump is in the same room with Co2... for future reference.

Hey KB took awhile but caught up on everything.
Looking good as usual. But my question is...
With the potential for CA to regulate canopy sqrft vs plant count, would you personally prefer fewer massive indoor trees requiring elaborate dwc setups vs a much more reliable 2-5 gal top feed dtw or recirc coco setup. Both can cover the same canopy space, so i guess with watching you run both setups which do you feel yielded the best vs the amount of time and effort required???

Hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries by saying something.
A simple rule for any plant in the world: A plant can only grow as fast as its limiting factor.
If availability to nutrients, dissolved oxygen or ph is a limiting factor, then yes, hydroponics results in better growth. However, Co2, lighting, temp and/or humidity can also be a limiting factor.
Its generally accepted, that if you do not have a limiting factor, hydroponics will result in quicker, more vigorous growth & flowering.

I am not questioning whether or not you can get accelerated growth out of a dwc setup...Although I do believe that coco would be considered a hydroponic medium due to the fact that it is nutritionally inert, but that is a whole other discussion.
I guess basically what i want to know is.... If plant count becomes a mute point, after experimenting with both setups, does the extra maintenance of a dwc correlate equally in yield to man hrs. Or do you believe that you could dedicate the same number of man hrs to a greater number of sqr ft with a coco setup generating a higher production rate with the same number of man hrs???

I am thankful I have ran on to ICMAG and your threads as well as a few others. Learning a lot, I love how you press the envelope going all out.
Could I get your opinion on the 1k HPS bulbs please, is it worth spending the extra money on the Hortilux Super bulbs? or what bulbs to you use if not these.
I am in a pinch financially and just trying to get rocking as best I can as cheap as I can but also spend for the most quality too.
Here are a couple things I would like your thoughts on;
Would it be beneficial to use coolers/ice chest for your buckets and reservoir? The insulating would help keep water temperature cooler and a person can buy the 6 ft. pieces of pipe insulation for the lines too. Good idea, bad idea?
FYI, I have a friend of a friend who's setup is in a permanent residence and he ran line for his reservoir 5ft deep all the way around his house which at that depth the temperature is always 54 degrees so it cools for free. Thats a hell of a lot of work but i guess if its permanent, he says he elminated the cooler cost, heat, replacement etc.... I know they do like a geo thermal heating/cooling system for a home along the same principle. I had never heard of anyone doing this and so I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
