275k for a permit to grow a weed.

Thank god for "legalization"

Oh this is rich:
sponsors say the main reason for the proposal isn't revenue, it's safety

I dont know one person, patient or not, that has gone to jail for cannabis consumption/cultivation in this state as long as they play by the rules.
We are further ahead in the movement then ever and we have people (a lot not even from california) trying to push the last, biggest step on us. This step however is being built with fences and control in mind; not legalization.

I wonder how many liberties/freedoms some on this board are willing to sacrifice. There are out-of-staters on this board trying to talk us into sacrificing our own liberties we've been fighting for.

This is a California issue and if you're so hell bent on saying we are the worlds only choice for legalization ( ) then back off and let us work. We have furthered movement to where it is now, we'll finish it.

BTW, I'm not selfish, I'm not a commercial grower (even if I was, this still stands, as my product stands above the rest :D ), I'm not spoiled in any way, I need my cannabis when I travel, and I will be voting no on this prop.

so what?
its called business...
have you ever run a small business?
it costs money.

look guy i understand your a scared young person...
but your emotions have become a detriment to your logic..
put down the hateraid and listen to people rather than spew regurgitated lies and nonsense.

the article you quoted has nothing to do with TC2010.

How is this not related to TC2010? If TC2010 was not in the works, do you believe they would be granting grow op permits for 275k?

And just because its a business, doesn't mean someone should have to fork over 275k JUST TO GROW a weed. Its greed, bread from years and years of incompetent/corrupt politicians.

I am reading again and i see calm inteligent on one side and i see panic and fear on the other. you have a chance to change the country and it sounds like some people believe anything they read or here. Dont just get mad because you read something that scared you. Reserch the real sorce take a breathe and make your point with logic. i dont think young people shold have it. but they do i sure had my share of 4finger bags. that shows my age $10 at that. keep the eye and get it passed and things can be fixed. the whole country is watching.

The worst part of US democracy is when free speech is abused. An intelligent and knowledgeable citizen's vote means nothing when false information is spread to the easily deceived masses and left unchallenged. Free speech is meaningful and of value when only the truth is revealed. When false information is allowed to flow freely with the intent to sway votes, our laws and our constitution are worthless.

Do you guys see what Dicks plan was all along... LOL!

Oakland approves massive grows; 275k per permit ... Rich Lee Wins One
The Oakland City Council isn't waiting for November to begin jumbling the legal rules. The Council's Public Safety Committee approved licensing wholesale pot growing Tuesday, 3-to-1.

KALW News reporter Ali Winston reports from that meeting that sponsors say the main reason for the proposal isn't revenue, it's safety (as their name implies): residential electrical fires more than doubled in the city in the past three years, and officials think there's a good connection between that increase and unregulated pot "grow houses."

That said, the committee proposes that applicants pay fees of over $275,000 per operation.

Approved by the committee and full City Council, four large growers would be permitted in the first year.

One grower said he embraced regulation but argued that the plan would force medium- and small-scale cultivators to close down, move, or "go back underground into the dark ages."

The ordinance doesn't yet set a limit on the size of the large cultivators

The plan also would permit Oakland's four licensed dispensaries to sell to retailers across California.

Last month rich lee purchased a 20 acre plot to build his new growing facilities ...

omg you really didnt pay attention in economics. read up kid. here is a free lesson.

there is nothing about this that forces small growers to stop growing. The market is big enough for all. Richard lee is being smart.
Do think only 4 growers could supply the whole state, because they cant. Why? because the demand for LEGAL cali bud will sky rocket due to an influx of hash bars and tourist going to them. There will be able to be hash bars built with a view where you can enjoy scenery. There can be hotels based on hash tourism and having a chill place to stay where smoking is permitted.

You have serious tunnel vision. you are missing the big picture of what the pot industry will be able to infiltrate.

So actually the limit to only 4 large growers at first will keep hundreds of large growers from flooding the market with shitty weed. Richard Lee is a patient, and he is in a wheel chair. He is on the patients side. do you even know his story man? I highly doubt a man that did this for the patients to begin with, when he wasnt making over a mill a year, is going to just say fuck em now. you guys paint him as this devil. he isnt a bad guy. He has a school that teaches people how to grow for them selves and protect them selves legally. you, and the other no voters, are just caught up in a battle over some personal shit between him and Dennis perron that you have no clue about so you cant judge. Dennis Perron should have left his ego out of this.

This bill is good for cali growers. you really need to get a grip on reality. I suggest reading more than one paragraph of this bill, But first I suggest you take a government and economics course at your local community college. That is not a joke kid, you are seriously ignorant. to clarify, ignorant means you haven't learned it yet, where as stupid means you refuse to learn or you cant based on I.Q. limit. I don't think you are stupid though, i just think you are ignorant.

This is the truth, I am sorry it is not as exciting and free of a bill as you want, but it gets the job done. In US government you have to get the job done and polish later, everything is based on compromise and slow progress because people including yourself are very scared of any change. It isnt like china where one person decides the whole process of instituting a new thing. It would be nice in our situation if we could just have GN roll out a bill for us but we cant. so grow up, and do a little reading. do some mushrooms to. they are mind expanding, and will help you become a more adaptable person. adaptation is part of life.

Hash bars? Do you really think local governments are going to permit this? Most counties/cities won't even permit mmj dispensaries... These same places will ban any retail rec. mj. Maybe you would get hash bars in oakland/sf, not much else...

^where else would you buy quality weed and hash in a legal market? not 7-11, that is sure as shit. med shops are for patients, its like a pharmacy. The only place you can enjoy hash and even alcohol in some places out side of your home legally is a private club. this is a loop hole becuase it is private property where all paying guest are permitted to smoke there, because in your bill is a free membership to the club. It doesnt have to even be a club, it just has to be a private business.

SF, LA, and many other small towns up in the triangle will permit them because they flat out need the tax revenue. I dont think san diego will have them though, that county is retarded about weed.

this loophole is how people get around the blue laws in texas for alcohol. it works everywhere.

That might work for use, but it won't work for sales if the city has decided to not allow for such.

Lot of cites that have banned MMJ disp/collectives/whatever could use the tax money. Yet they don't allow them.

the way around that is called a gratuity cover charge, they are charged a cover charge based on service you have given not the free products in the club(the hash); but the service you gived them is all based on how much hash you have to bring them. You charge them, lets say 20 bucks, for "each time a staff member goes to the table". each time they go to the table they only bring one gram. This is how the total gratuity is added up. know, because I have run a 5 star lounge in a city where the alcohol laws were just like that.

you get around everything with "politically correct labels"

over the years the restaurant and bar industry here have pushed to make the laws less strict and have won many battles. they have the poeple on there side.

^ i go commando. underwear cant contain me, I have to be free to swing brother. lol jk

dont worry I am harsher on the internet than in real life because you cant hear me so I have to emphasize with words.

I with drawl my comment calling you stupid because you are at least quick with the comebacks. I just dont find your arguments convincing at all.

I am sure your not a bad guy at all, and your burns are too fun. It is no fun for me to burn people with lame comebacks. it makes for poor sport when they take the burn as personal cause they come back with anger instead of a clever snappy comeback.

I still say prop 19 is good for you. It is a good excuse to get a horticulture degree too if want, get out of school and you will be 21 by then if you arnt yet now. Then be a breeder, and sell your genetics to all growers with our fear of persecution. made in the shade man.

oh man then we are both just big kids for our ages even though I am only 26. I'll never stop with the jokes. even if they are dry. laughing is good for people.

we might disagree about this bill, but I cant believe I almost didnt like you dude. I actually like now. you grew on me i guess, like mold lol jk about the mold part.

just goes to show stoners can get along better than most. can you imagine two non tokers going back and forth like that, and both not hating each other till death. it is because over all we all want legalization, we just dont agree how, but we do agree on the big picture. we also have the the best meds on the planet.

My ideal bill btw way would be federal and just remove all pot laws from the book in general, except for standard safety laws. I would also add a law saying that you can add no chemicals to it. Then I would remove it from the DEA schedule list. last I would add in a law that makes it part of the bill of rights.

Over all parents are responsible for their kids.

I know I wont get this bill right away though, so I encourage people to take the movement forward. I want this bill to pass so cali can rub it in the DEA's face when their pot economy grows faster than the US population during the baby boom.

green rush. i really think this bill will make or brake the teeter tottering cali infrastructure, with the tax, and private revenue steams it will produce. lets not forget hemp either.

Umm... 275k is the permit to have a HUGE LEGAL WAREHOUSE OP!

You can grow in your own home in a 25sq ft space for FREE and WITHOUT BEING TAXED.

I've already shown that it's possible to grow more than 3 lbs every 2 months in 25sq feet. How fucking much herb do you really need to smoke? Nearly an ounce a day won't cover you?

You don't have to fork over 275k to grow. You have to fork over 275k to have a massive warehouse grow. If you have the skills to setup a massive warehouse grow already, you likely already have the 275k for the permit. Once you start growing in your legal warehouse, you'll have no trouble coming up with the next permit fee.
