krunch...what up bro? i think sams figure of 800k arrested was a national number....and his point, one that many of us share, is there has to be a first state to go legal, then others will follow.....

player! what up?

i know you and i are on opposite side of this and i respect you....

krunch- i only jump on peoples shit who i dont like! haha...youdaman....
and let me ask a specific question...maybe it will help me understand where the oppsition is coming from....
---what is the issue w paying taxes on cannabis? cuz jack said he didnt think we should? do people think that because canna users have been persecuted for years, that as payback we should be the only ag crop that doesnt get taxed?shit, maybe im wrong...do other ag products not get taxed? is this where the brunt of the tax problem comes from? and im not being my usual smart ass self...i really am curious as i have gotten a number of remarks in private, visitor messages etc saying this was the main sticking point from some peeps perspective...

legal like tobacco or legal like lettuce?

i like my idea better

at this point in the war, i dont really care ....i understand many opposing points, but take the attitude of get it done, begin the process now, fine tune as we go along...i think the semi protections we have now....ummmm....have kinda maybe given us cali growers the attitude that, well, its good enough for us, let the rest of the country finish up what we started....momentum...its what we have going and we need to keep it
EDIT: are there no taxes on ag products? again, not being a smartass....i thought there was...

who's lying?? wtf?

there would be no "medical" clause, just Cali selling permits to grow/smoke for $100 per year.

....no?

Sorry I misunderstood, I don't think that would generate enough revenue for them (100x1 million= 100 million, not much when put into the context of running the state government of the most populous state) compared to $50 for each and every ounce.

^^ how much does the state expect to make off this prop 19?.. The numbers i read were well under $100 million per year, which if correct means that my theory would work better, with less restrictions.. win win.

I think a lot more than 2 million ounces will change hands in Cali in one year.

seriously though, the projected numbers for prop 19 were not that high, i think i read like $20million per year in state revenue or something, i could totally be wrong though, so plz correct me if you have a source

Trillion you never smoked his Pure Kush,.. he is the worlds finest grower imo,..

I didn't mean to come off like he wasn't a good grower, just that he (and the vast majority of those that supply dispensaries) are not experienced agriculturalists which , if cannabis was on a level with other cash crops, should be the people supplying the market.

I don't have a source, I'm just guessing tbh. $100 million doesn't sound like much in terms of running the state of California.

Subrob this isn't about normal biz taxes bro! Its about specific and extra cannabis specific taxes that prop 19 allows to be implemented without limitation. My bet is mendo sherrifs will make trimmers pay for $2k trimmers permits... basically the only things that have special added taxation for consumption are Oil, Tobacco, alcohol, and ammunition. Tomatoes are not taxed because they are tomatoes, yeah the people who make money off them have to pay INCOME taxes, but then again those of us who truely are legal are paying those taxes. Its morall wrong to expect cannabis to be taxed more than anything else when the money will just feed the evils of the beast.

i found the numbers, they seem very high though, but what do i know

projected revenue for california is 1.4 Billion per year.. At $50 tax per ounce, that is a projected 2,800,000 ounces (175,000 LBs) sold per year in CA

and i bet that money will be spent only for good.

If you make and sell beer and wine would you expect to pay taxes on it?

No chance of me running for office, I am way to busy growing, and I don't believe in politics much except to achieve Cannabis reform. I never met a politician I liked, ever.

I don't want to speak badly of the dead, but to me Jack was never the leader of any movement,
-SamS

so why dont you think Jack Herer was a leading figure in the legalization movement? and who, in your opinion, is? keep in mind i don't have the reference books that you have, so please paraphrase if you can. **waits for another Sam post that doesn't address this...**
