Mold proof jungle strains

Aloha everyone. Thanks for the continued support. I wanted to start by saying to Raco, WOW :nono: that's what I'm talking about. Nice plant. The Panama is defiantly on the list. Me thinks that strain will do just fine :joint:

R.C. Cola's, keep posting so your P.M. privilege kicks in. Then P.M. me and we will work something out.

Ok, I too did not know that Greenhouse A.M.S.= Anti Mold Strain. I saw it online but only the fem version. Fem seed's really don't have a place in what I do. Maybe they have a standard version?

I have grown Matanuska Thunderfuck seed's that my friend from AK gave me before. They did ok in Hawaii. Curious to see how Sagarmatha gear will do outside in the jungle, especially a mold resistant Indica :joint:

On another note, I decided not to order some more Web aka Ducksfoot after talking to Wallyduck.
He told me he did a test and found that the stock was not as good as he remembers. Here is his actual quote:
The ducksfoot that gn has that i tried recently really needs some better selecting done with it ,, didnt seem like the ducksfoot i used to grow ,, though there was a few plants that grew really nicely with very fat buds ,, but lacked the flavour that i particularly tried to keep ,, my favourite part of it ,,

Updates for 2010

Hi everyone, Had to change my log in name to JOJO420 for security reasons, cant remember my password, lol Anyhow it's been quite some time since I checked in here. Aloha to everyone:wave:

I gotta start by saying the Hunt is still on for the Mold proof jungle strains. I have been gifted some of the strains mentioned to me as possible candidates. Thank you Friends for the KIND gift's:tiphat:
The contenders are PNG, Panther, Nevilles Haze x Mullumbimby Maddness, Blue Berry, Blue Moonshine(sativa pheno) and NL x OPT. These I feel are well bred and stand a chance. The Odd factor plays a huge role here also. These are not your everyday strains. All of these have been bred and selected by knowledgeable Head's. I plan on using these as a base to start with.
I am still on the Hunt for a " Super " Sativa. I don't feel I have it yet. Something Electric ,something truly outstanding. Any ideas???

hey Jit/JOJO,

theres a lethal Iranian indica known as 'endless sky' that has had some great raves for its outstanding mold resistance in high rainfall areas...several tokes from a blunt of this stuff and it'll nail your body down hard to the ground while your thoughts are soaring up somewhere frighteningly high. I did it last year but I'm yet to trial it against high rainfall conditions but it sounds very promising in this regard.

Hawaiian Snow from Greenhouse, super powerful herb of the highest order plus big yielder can be trained nicely and should not mold at all outside. Ideal for your location. :canabis:

why not grow some autos in a very light medium that dries out quickly. i know autos are notorious for molding but ive found thats not really the case. there done in 9 weeks and definately stealth, i do luv hawaii erb though, when i moved back to the mainland i found most of what peeps call chronic kiind of sucks in comparison. alohas

ALOHA ,Hey Freedom Fighter nice to see you on here again also. Hope things are well.:ying:

Had a thought today that I might have found my ultimate soil mix for my growing style outdoors in Hawaii, might even use in the green house also???
COCONUT and LAVA CINDERS
Here is why, DRAINAGE. I can do coco hydro style feedings for explosive topside growth and awesome root growth. If it decides to rain the mix does not drown the roots, thus inhibiting growth potential. Since the plants will be fed on a drip style irrigation line, the medium will be conducive to explosive growth even during drought. :dance013:
Going furthur with this, when it does rain for days on end , simply use dry ferts. Topdress your favorite dry ferts for whatever cycle your plant is and the rain does the rest.
When its dry, use your favorite nutrients in the fertigation lines. pump em up!!

over the years we have grown indica's like white rhino, widow, russian, and a number of others.. we have grown sativas like sammy's freebie's, wally's panama red/c99, a few diff hazes, and a number of hybrids, and they all have one thing in common... they all get mold... we are surrounded by water, and by mid sept most mornings there is some fog, and the sun is lazy, getting up at 10/10.30, and everything gets mold... some mold in late sept, others a week/10days later, but all get it.. we have used greencure/other products... no help...

Erdpurt, Frisian Dew, Purple Power, Early Pearl are all hardy and mold resistant strains you can try. A greenhouse with good ventilation will help you a lot.

Peace

i have read through this thread a few times. i live in very humid coastal climate, similar to florida and one of my best growing strains is an old hawaiian strain that i'm sure has some indica. jitamon, you probably have access to something like it, and it is very unstable. i have a predominance of stocky, sativa dominant hybrid looking plants with extreme tropical, bubble-gummy, and pine astrigent aromas. some plants have been more indica and greasy, greasy pine and astrigent - and a very heavy stone. some have been a pure christmas tree sativa that smells like the most tropical sweet, fruit punch imaginable - doesn't even smell like cannabis. and, i've even had lanky assymetrical thai-dominant plants that had super leafy buds that cured to taste like spicy lemons (this pheno had the best high as well). anyway, NONE of the phenos mold. none have gotten huge for me either, but that has to do with judicious planting schedules as much as anything.
the strain requires some work, but for me it's unique and interesting.

Krull, welcome, yes great advice I use a green house. Good call on the ventilation, gotta really improve in that regard, lol
I grew Early Pearl, i would like to try it again for sure.

Strains that have failed in the jungle.

Strains that have failed in the jungle.

Off the top of my head these strains failed miserably:
White Russian from Serious Seeds
Durban Poison
Island Sweet Skunk from Next Generation
Cherry Thai from Reeferman
Spice from MrNice
At Least 3/4 of all the local strains I tried, go figure, lol
Most Skunks from all the seedbanks out there.

Top producers in my Jungle so far, off the top of my head.
White Widow
Ak-47
StrawberryWeb
G-13xHawaiin
Diesel
BlueBurmese

Introspect

Introspect

I am quite surprised to hear anyone say that they are bored of Hawaiian sativas or Hawaiian-grown Africans and Thais. Back in the day such stuff was pretty close to the Grail. Perhaps the strains have deteriorated somewhat, with all the persecution.

Or perhaps you just naturally prefer indicas, not everyone like sativas.
However, Kush strains in the conditions you describe would need indoor grow and dehumidifier, IMHO. Of course, I am open to correction. Someone must have worked on a mold-resistant indica, but I don't think it's an easy problem, coz it's not just about genetics, it's a physical thing (tight bud structure).
This deserves some serious introspect. The jungle eats things alive. The Island is volcanic and change is constant. I live on the wet side and the weather is what you see when you look up,lol.
All these factor into what kind of plant makes it in the jungle.

I believe the Og Kush will thrive in the jungle. I believe!! Here iSs why. Small dense nugs are best. When the bracts are fat and covered with trichs and the buds are small and sparse, they grow great. It adapts and grows denser with proper breeding selections. I can maintain the yummy Og taste in the jungle!!

One of the best seed runs I did was a Diesel seed run in 05'. Not a spot of mold and just thrived in typical rainforest weather. It was pretty wet n hot. They even turned purple in winter when fully mature. Soma from Soma Seed's used to live here and we grow n test his stuff all the time. It was his NYSD that I had success with. I like the ECSD Better:)

I actually like to GET high, lol. I love a great sativa high. Love to get STONED on a good Indica. Prefer a good Sativa buzz with a good indica influence, haha I love it all. Need meds for pain. Need meds for head. I am leaning toward mostly Sativa hybrids lately though.
Most gROWERS I know in my neighborhood have no real Breeding skills so to speak on a larger level, just backyard pollen chuckin. They know male and female, thats about it. A lot of heirloom strains are SHIT now cause of rippers or copters or the old guys died and gave it to their cousin and GONE, guy dont know shit, cant grow shit, arghhh!!

the old hawaiian strain i have is most likely a mix of heirloom strains that have just hung in there... there are some gems in there and it's too bad these plants aren't preserved with more awareness.

also, i'm curious to see if your theory about dense og type nugs grown in the jungle. my experience with dense indicas is that the heat and humidity really make everything stretch and open up if there is the least hint of sativa influence. i've grown a couple of very dense kush type plants that got terrible mold...

Og ain't Kush

Og ain't Kush

Og is not an Indica as far as I know. It came from a Chemdog s1 and Chem is Sativa I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong?? please.

Sounds like you have a good Hawaiian line regardless of the history. Keep up the good work :)

JOJO420,
OG Kush is from a Chemdog S1 and it is definetly not a Sativa. I think its a hybrid of some sort but it definetly has a lot of indica in it. Sorry to say this, but it will mold in your tropical area. I also too live in a tropical island that rains all year round, and any Chem hybrid or whatnot does mold outside unless under a greenhouse. I have also seen plants under a greenhouse mold due to high humidity from the surrounding air. Your best bet would be some Jamaicans, Thais, Viets, Cambodia, or your local available strains.
Hope this helps.

Hello Jojo420,
i would like to hear if you have made any experiences with KC Brains gear 'cause I'm becoming a bigger fan of his stuff the more i see from it.
I would also like to hint you to the user Silverback (R.I.P.), who knew alot about mold.
He recommended Endless Sky, Maple Leaf Indica, KC33 and Sensi Star. He had other recommendations/ experiences with strains and mold, but sadly i don't have the saved pages with me right now.
What is propably more important for you is a fungizide called greencure. Check out greencure.net, the stuff is absolutly nontoxic, you can lick it, snort it, eat it. What's more important you can use it in flower!
Be advised that the dosage recommendation they give on their homepage is too high for cannbis, try 1/2 to 1/3 less and experiment, or you may burn your plants.
Happy growing.
