Love those pics, mmm. :) :smoker:

humblodtlocal: how do you like those fiskar hand trimmers? I saw them at the hardware store the other day, and I was so tempted to buy them. How do you like them? are they good for trimming for hours on end?

^^^what planet do you live on?^^^ fiskars are standard for trimming. of course they're awesome for trimming hours on end, thats why they sell them at the grow store.

Thought I would drop back in and answer these questions.
Hey Humboldtlocal

I must admit that looks to be the most amazing trimmer on the planet!

On another note if you don’t mind I was wondering if you could elaborate a little bit more on you “turkey bag” curing?
I understand they are on racks for 3-7 days depending on condition of the buds then into the oven bags. OR I maybe misunderstanding altogether and you are drying on racks then into turkey bags ala paper bags to get it dried just right. What they went into for curing purpose I am uncertain but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t glass, maybe ziplocks? Below I had a few questions and I would greatly value your feedback.

1. Is there even the slightest funky taste/aroma from drying/curing in those bags?

I go from the racks after 3-7 days into turkey bags. The outside of the bud will get very dry from being on the rack but the inside will still have a lot of moisture. Within an hour of bagging it up I will have to open the bag back up as it will all have re-hydrated evenly. Then I will usually leave the bags open over the next couple of days, sometimes opening and closing for several hours till it gets just right. No funky smell from doing it like this. Though some pounds were over dried during an end of Sept heat wave. There was a little learning curve but we got it down now. I am not a fan of putting buds in paper bags at all. I don't like the way they dry in there and I think it leaves a funky smell.

2. How long were you drying/curing in those oven bags before they go into that amazing MINIPACK vacuum machine?

I should have bagged them right away once they were dry with my bagging machine but I didn't get it till a couple months later.
3. Did you use any other large Tupperware or igloo coolers methods in the past to cure and find it unsatisfactory?

Have never tried any methods like that. Would need to go to one hell of a tuperware party to get enough to dry all my stuff.:)

I used to be a world class trimmer in my younger days. The scissors I like are called ARS grape shears. They have an orange or white handle. The fiskars seam to be harder on your hand after long days. Lots of people like them but I was never a fan. I am sure there are some cool new scissors on the market these days but I like those grape shears. Trim Scene carries scissors now I would give them a call and see what they have.

Saw you in High Times HumboltLocal, congrats. Same picture that is your avatar.

I also recognized that pic in High times. Good job Humboltlocal keep it green.

Thanks guys. I need to pick up a copy. I sent those in a while back. Grew up reading the mag and always thought it would be cool to be in there.

Hi HL!
Nice work on the HT appearance, congrats!! :)
I recently picked up a (bush-league! :D) TrimPro and was in absolute awe how (very, very!) much faster it worked than scissors!
The ratio of one 4' plant/hour with scissors just dramatically improved to 3:1.... Definitely worth the two grand investment,I urge anyone thinking about the purchase to get one without delay.
I think I'll likely upgrade to an "Automatik" model sooner than later-any clue if it's worth the extra cash?
Great thread,and btw-how goes the grow(s) bro? :)

Cheers!

Hey Rez, congrats on the new 420 cup wins and your new trimpro. It can definitely speed things up around the farm. I would stick with it for a while as I have heard nothing but bad things about the Auto and the XL. I had a friend with two XL's a couple seasons back. He said it really beat the buds up. It whips them around way to fast and doesn't do a tight trim job. There is no vac sucking the leaf into the blades so it can't trim very tight. There are some youtube vids that show its poor performance. I was surprised they even had these vids posted because it makes it look really bad. The bud looks like it needs a lot of clean up afterwords. My friend also said it took several hours to clean and sharpen it after a days use. Stick with the trim pro till you are ready for a Twister.
Things are coming along nicely here on the farm. Check out our 2010 thread in the outdoor forum. You should also check Ganja D's new thread about your strains he has started and we will be playing with on the farm. They were started a couple weeks after everything else but are starting to catch up and look great. We did fry about fifty seeds of yours with a faulty heat mat which was an expensive bummer but these others look great. Going to be a great season.:)

Any new Twister users out there? I have some friends running very large light deps this year that have put deposits down for theirs. I hope to get some pics when they run them.
