i dont see miracle grow on the list, wtf???
LMFAO! And maybe I'll pee on my plants? LOL. No MG is not an option. This thread is just based on nutes I own. Not nutes I'm lookin to buy. And MG would still not be on my list.

Everyone, I appreciate ALL the input I am receiving. U guys are full of useful info, though it seems that GH is really not allowing the competition to thrive in this poll. LOL. Oh well it is wat it is. As that one gentleman said, 30 years in business means something. More info please! I love info!

Depends on the style of grow.

I dont like floranova for aeroponic applications, my vote goes to flora series. (or PBP)

DWC or E&F, Floranova is great. I find it more PH stable than flora series. And has alot of goodies in it like humics and fulvics.

Floranova is easiest. 3 part works good but you have to know what NPK ratio you are going for.

I will be going with Ebb & Flow, for the first time on this go. I was thinking of doing 1 girl in DWC, But I'm gonna make this 1 easy! As I said I'm stuck between the FloraNova, and the Cutting Edge Solutions.

great thread, this will come in handy for me a bit later!
Thanks, I REALLY appreciate that. I started this in hopes that others would find useful info on here, as I am.

LMFAO! Figured someone/people wouldn't read my 1st post, explaining what this thread is about. LOL. Still I have to thank u cause ur heart was in the right place. After all, U were trying to help. If your confused read my first post, at the beginning of this thread.

I would definitely go with the GH for a reason that no one has mentioned yet, at least directly. Since so many people here have used GH in the same scenario you described you will have a much better resource here for when you run into problems. Chances are, if you posted a thread about coco problems with one of the first two brands you mentioned, there would be very few qualified to reply.
You sir I tip my hat off to. Very good point that I will have to keep in mind. This might make me look stupid to some, but that point has not even crossed my mind and it was SO OBVIOUS and I didn't see it, nor had I taken that point into consideration. SO I thank u sir/maam. U brought a good point to the table, and NOW I will have to keep that in mind. :ying:

Lucas, Rez, and actually there's one there dude(Head) that's in that mix that is well known for "their" little tuning into ratios method. Quite honestly, I enjoy using some additives. I'm not a believer in spending the least amount of money. I do agree that A LOT/MOST of it has to do with genetics. BUT!!!!!! I also believe u get wat u pay for. So I'll spend a little more on a few additives, but their are put to use, and they do work. I wouldn't just throw my money away. So I probably wont be using the Res' or Lucas' Methods. I'm not ruling them completely out. But just for starters, I will be using (1)Hygrozyme, (2)Bud Candy and/or FloraNectar, (3)Gravity(week 4), and (4)Overdrive(week 6) along with watever recipe I choose. so that probably goes against their ratios, But if I use GH, I will use them as a guideline, pretty much.

I wanna thank all of u for all this great info. I know I thanked everyone before, and as long as all this useful info keeps getting posted, I will continue to be thankful to all. Thanks once again.

*****NOTE***** I remember that other guys name. There's Lucas, RezDog, and Head

Hey someone throw some opinions my way. I wanna do a 50/50 mix of Hydroton/Coco. Anyone have experience with it? Let me know...... WATEVER about it. I already have the Coco(Bio-Bizz), and Hydroton. Keep this in mind. I am wanting to drip(they're in 2 gallon 7.5"x7.5"x9.25" square containers.) for a couple of weeks, till the roots are where I can flood the table. If anyone has experience with this method I am interested in doin, please shed some light on this matter to me. Especially how often should I drip, and what length of a time should I drip for(4 times a day, for 15 minutes?) Any info u can give me on this would be great. Also 1 of my hydro store guys strongly recommended that I cover the top of the coco/containers. Is that also ur recommendation. He should me all this Algae in his res, and said it could have been avoided had he covered his containers. Thanks for ur help.

#4 without any doubt at all, but go with the 2 part Lucas form... biggest bang for buck IMO

I have wasted thousands of dollars goofing around with fancy nutes and always went back to GH nutes, rapid reliable growth.
Same here... though I currently am using the FloraNova with excellent results. I'm switching to MaxiBloom the next round for even more simplicity and money savings.

Stay Safe! :tree:

Hey 311, I have used 60/40 coco/hydroton, in waterfarms, the past 4 grows now. Happy plants in general, with vigorous root growth. I over watered my first grow, and had to cull 5 ladies, due to root and stem issues from over watering. I was watering for 15 mins., 2 times a day, while vegging, and all was well. But I read a few threads with someone saying they started to water more as they got bigger, so I tried and KILLED my little ones.
So, now I just do it twice a day for mybe 10 mins. max. More for res circulation for me when I use the drippers, although I know the airstone in each res does keep things nice and alive down there! Just don't over water and you will never switch back. Hope this gives some insight, 311, good luck on your grow! potluvr1

P.S. I also use GH flora base nutes, using lucas method of just micro and bloom, and I am lucky as I never have to check the ph, and I run 5-6 waterfarms at once, so I used to have to check the ph 1-2 times a day, with my tap water and adding my nutes the ph stays in the 5.6-6.0 all the time now! I tossed my DM Gold and Hesi coco, because like all the experts say on here, IF IT AIN"T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

First let me start by sayin thnk u, and I'm glad this thread seems to be found useful by many on here. So how many time a day, and how many minutes do u drip for. Just for the beginning, to try to establish roots so I can flood.
Once I start flooding, just do 10 minute flood twice a day? Keep in mind I will have an inch of Hydroton at the bottom of the pot.

Now let me ask u this. I have 2 couplings, before the filter coupling, on my drain fitting. Now keep this in mind, my containers are about 9 1/2" tall, and my drain level is at about 3" right now, should I put another coupling on there, and that would raise the drain level up to 4 1/2" instead? Or is the 3" flood sufficient for a container that tall?

Also how many airstones do u add to ur res, and how big are they? The biggest airstone I have is 15" I think. Would 2 airstones and a 30-60 gallon pump w/ dual outputs suffice? I also have these other airstones I love. They're cheap as hell($1.70ea), they're Fizz something. The airstone looks like a stone. I know they all do for the majority, LOL, but this one is real gritty. But it does wonders in my DWC. Lots of bubbles, makes my water boil heavy with smaller bubbles though. roots love these airstones in DWC. The drawback is they don't have them bigger than 6".

Now if I go with the GH 3 part, I might as well give Cutting Edge Solutions a try. They kind go by a "Lucas Formula" . Lucas' Formula is 0-8-16 right? CES ratio for bloom is 0-8-20, They're also from NoCal so that kinda helps also(IMO). Nutes for growers by growers, ya kno. And they don have much Additives. Here's their recipe for 5 gallons. Another thing is with this company ur not suppose to pH ur nutes. It will pH itself. :dance013:
p.s. If I do GH I think it will be FloraNova this go around.

Hey thanks for your comments, I feel the need to help when I can! I was happy with my DM nutes, but with me running the GH base nutes, I never have to change my ph, and honestly, I never even check it, as long as the girls are growing healthily. So that is why I tossed almost a full liter of the Gold Grow a + b, and Bloom, I know its a waste but I loved the results I was getting with GH flora base! I do use bloom boosters, GH Liquid Koolbloom, and switch to AN Overdrive the last 2-3 weeks. I also use AN Sensizyme, FloraNectar and Cal-Mag, all the way through my grows! potluvr1

I use 1-6" airstone in each waterfarm, and I put the tubing to the airpump down the drainage pipe, and then hook the airstones to a quad air pump, and I use a dual diaphragm airpump to run the drippers.

So u guys using FloraNova Bloom. What do u guys do when u wanna drop ur (N) in flowering after a few weeks?

Dont change your nutes for the first 2 weeks in flower. Run a veg formula.

Reason is they stretch alot, and the plant needs plenty of N.

I've recently found that at the end of running the veg nutes for the 2 weeks in flower hit them with a 1-2 day PK spike. Use the powdered GH kool bloom. (Yeah I know its a ripening formula). then flush. And run regular bloom nutrients.

Just a suggestion.

My vote is for floranova. You can get 1 gram per watt yields with that stuff. Its one part nutrient, so its easy, just mix to desired PPM's. Its crazy you can almost forget about checking PH.. Its that easy.

Instead of buying the floranova grow, just use any other cheaper nute if you want... Like maxi-grow or whatever and save your coin for floranova bloom. OR buy the flora series Just buy bloom and micro.

If you do run floranova and you use RO water, your PH will be a little bit too low. So be careful. I get around this by using half filtered tap and half RO water. (My tap water is around 100PPM)

Addback water will simply be tap water.

I've used gh-3part for a while now and I love it. I've also used bc 3 part and it worked well too. Now I run gh3 + liquid karma and they end up real nice and sticky!

Sorry if my post annoys anyone, but in my HUMBLE opinion, GH is not a great nute. Salt based, common problems of nute lockout, nute burn, ph issues, salt buildup, hassle of buying and mixing THREE bottles always at different ratios, IMHO this is nuts!

Edited to remove my personal favorite nute recommendation. :)
