Dinafem aren't true breeders bro they are pollen chuckers. They worked with established hybrids such as jack herer and white widow or blueberry.

One question, is a company specialized in feminized seeds, like Dinafem, a true breeder?
How do they gather the male genetics?Or there are none?:dunno:
Sorry for the daft question, but i´m no breeder:prettyplease:
Peace

First off creating feminized seeds is a short cut. If your strain is not stable, creating femninized seeds will just give you a wide variety of different phenos. So to sum it up, you can make feminized seeds from a strain that you have created that is stable. Just specializing in femmed seeds does not make you a breeder. You first have to create a strain before you begin to feminize it.

Hi all, I consider a breeder one who has created a strain that is consistent in the attributes that him/her desire to make stable. In other words, the fewer phenos found the better a job the breeder did.

A person does not have to have a degree, does not have to be nice to anyone, does not even have to sell seeds, does not need someone to refer to him as a breeder. All that matters is true dedication which takes time, its all about selection for the qualities you want to keep dominant. So in reality anyone who breeds for a specific trait(s), and is able to create that with little to no variation can earn the title of a real breeder. Its all about creating something thats just consistent. Imagine you purchase a 10 pack of seeds, and every plant is like almost exactly the same, except they are not femms. You know that breeder did a hell of a job with selection. And that is a real breeder. Fewer phenos, show the stability of a line, and this represents the work of the "real breeder." And separates the pollen chuckers from the real.

Just my thoughts ladies and gentlemen.

Happy growing and breeding.

i like to think of the real breeders by pool selection size ,and the work they put in to achive stable or desired results.I wish Breeder Steves Switzerland pictures were still around...Smaller breeders around as well its the skill level ,and the desired reults....

The answer will vary with the forum imo.

I consider real breeders who do not rely on internet hype to sell thier seeds. They should be able to sell themselves imo.

I do grow some stuff from pollen chuckers, TGA, Rez, BOG, Cali Conection, wally duck, ect. They all get ran through my line up, and for the most part I am always happy with thier offerings.

the only one of those i would consider pollen chuckers is cali connect, and that is soley because logic is a wanker, and they shouldnt lure people towards his crappy attempt at running a business.

i dont care about them producing all the elite kush's and chem crosses and shit, because even though they are really nice smoke and all, they are seriously overhyping the desire for this limited section of the gene pool, which is exacerbated by the fact that rez cant satisfy the high rolling end of the market enough to leave something for everyone else....people pay 600-1000+ for rez gear within seconds to a couple of minutes of the drop, without blinking.......

another way i would word my opinion is if someone works a line by acting upon a set population to improve it, then they are a breeder...

the more someone is able to reduce or control phenotypes, to their desires through selection, the better a breeder they are, but i think to be able to control phenos by knowing what to breed with takes experience to do well.

also really before someone even thinks about making beans for sale, he/she, or they, imo, have to be good enough at producing near 100% healthy plants and have consistent results, in terms of the health of the stock, through generations or test batches, to be able to know that if one individual went taller than another it was actually due to genetic factors, and not !! it just being because they fucked up their grow in some way ...which can, on its own, take decades to acheive.....Then you throw in the fact that many lines and crosses prefer completely different levels of all environmental factors !!!!....................... so it can take a long time just to dial one strain in well enough to even begin to speculate about improving, or crossing, this or that individuals...

the more you know about the population, like things to do with pheno expression and dominance, the better you know what you breeding with, otherwise imo your being irresponsible with what your sending out into the community.....whether it takes you some massive grows over a few years, or a load of small ones over a decade (just for example)...it really helps if you have seen enough individuals of a certain population to be sure you've seen most if not all, of the possible phenos that there could be..

why would someone want to sell genetics that they havent worked and improved ? and why would they want to put their, frankly, quantity(yield) over quality, versions of somebody elses work up for sale...... unless they only ever got into "breeding", in the first place, in order to have an easy life painting pollen, making money and doing little breeding........:rasta:

one thing is i would like all breeders to do is soley breed and do their selection in just soil, to prevent genes potentially being chosen for, that are vigorous in hydro or coco but may be weak and not hardy enough to produce really decent roots in soil...but for all i know selection for bigger better hydro roots will also cause the same to happen in soil grown progeny, but still im a purist at heart...

I don't see any diferents between rez and swerve really...So to me they are both pollen chuckers cause they simply work with Elite clones and cross them.
If breeding is simply improve a line, hybrids or ibl, then they are all True Breeders. ?

Anybody can take a Elite clone and try make S1's with it, i don't see this as Real Breeding IMO. U can reverse a Elite clone and pollen chuck every other Elite clones u have that ain't True Breeding.

Trying to recreat the Chem genetics from landraces will be what i see as True Breeding!
I respect rez and swerve simply because they are bringing the hard to get clones in seeds form for the comunity and of course for the $€£!!

Well....I know personally most all of the breeders/pollen chuckers/seedmakers et al mentioned in this thread...

...and from my perspective I have to try and supply the demand (which is not small) for good viable seeds to the ever growing, growing community...

It's all about getting enough stock, and trying to keep it in stock ....since demand usually far out-strips supply for the majority of the most sought after breeders/pollen chuckers/seedmakers.....(what ever terminology you wish to use)...

The whole planet has a thirst for new hybrids/IBL's/back-crosses e.t.c. that I simply cannot supply, I do what I can... so I am happy that there are other seed distributors out there or I would have to have 1000's of employee's and some huge office space and the requisite management skills to try and run that sort of show.

...It's all good....as I am quite satisfied with the way it is going.....I am growing more growers and breeding more breeders by keeping this site going and a couple of seed sites.....so I am doing my bit to try and make a difference...

As for describing what a real breeder is....I think that it was summed up in the 2nd post on this thread...by WelderDan
