Buds won't dry in Cali

Ya I don't know how others would feel about it but I would just leave the paper bag open. If you really have 100% humidity I would also run a small fan in there if possible periodically. You could put a big bowl of salt in the room, or rice, or damp rid, or any other desiccant too to lower the general humidity in the area you are drying in (would work well for small drying spaces)

This is silly! Put the buds in a brown paper grocery bag, shut the top. Open like you would a curing jar daily.

Buds will be dry in 3-4 days, but not in a bad way, like microwave...

good luck

No, you just don't have experience in 100% humidity levels..a paper bag won't dry out bud if the ambient humidity is 80-100%..come on guys, where is the humidity supposed to go after it's in the bag? We're talking high humidity levels..

You need to do what Backcountry said, cut the larger branches off (they store humidity) and use lights or a heater to dry the room/herb. You need to make an environment with low humidity, and the thing that does that is heat.

I would buy one of these if I were you in the future, a herb and fruit dessicator:

200 degrees in the oven is too hot, you want more like 90-120 degrees..

These herb drying machines work very well after a 2 week cure if it is still moist. I would not use microwave or oven..a light bulb in a closet is better even...just beware of fire dangers..

That's my boy! I lived in a very humid place where the humidity is 80 to 100 percent year round! Not only that I had over 100 gallons of saltwater tanks in my house as well. I had to get a dehumidifier. A bag works but Moldy is right if you have 100% humidity there is no place for the moisture to go. My question is, why is it 100% RH in the place you are drying? Are you drying outside or in an area where there is a lot of warm water(pool, jacuzzi)? Humidity indoors should be lower than outdoors unless you got all your windows open. I know its winter time but AC drys air so you could run the AC for a bit and get the humidity down...if you have AC where you are drying. If so turn it on for a day or so and get the humidity down and then try the paper bag method that Lolagal suggested. I feel ya on not having any money to throw at this, I am unemployed as well. Good luck bro and let us know how it goes. Keep it danK!

The paper bags work well...what I use is the cardboard beer or soda flats lay your buds out on them in a single layer turn your buds every day for about 3-5 days they will be dry
enuff to smoke or cure whatever your preference may be If you put a fan on them let the
fan oscillate or blow the fan up over the buds and not directly on them you dont want them to dry to quickly slow drying and a good cure is always best..........ST

lol i use paper bags to slow down the drying when its nearly there!

remember also that humidty is relative, so raising the temperature will lower the relative humidity (because warm air can hold a lot more water vapour than cold air.)

i can inderstand if you cant buy stuff - but the dehuidifier does work really well. i dried half a pound of blueberry in an old kitchen cabinet up in my unheated loft in november last year. they give out a little heat as well which helps.

Use a dehumidifier or keep a fan on them. Or you can use a paper bag as is posted above.
Where are you in Cali? I came to So Cal and a big bud I had was completely dry in 2 days.

brown baggin it definitely dries it out real crispy for me, then I put the buds in a jar with a freshly trimmed leaf... the buds rehydrate in an hour or so....

People still don't understand what living in a place of 80-100% humidity does LMAO

Socal? If you live near the beach, like I did, humidity rises 100% every night at times of the year due to FOG rolling in from the ocean, a blanket of 100% humidity covers the 5 mile stretch along the coast for over 12 hours many times, re-wetting the bud.. I now live 30 miles inland in a desert valley where humidity mainly stays below 50%, so there are huge micro-climate variations even within a given geographical area.

There is enough good info here to get a proper "Drying room" or drying closet setup.
You need a humidity gauge and a way to evaporate the water in the air...and a paper bag isn't going to do it..you need heat or a machine that wicks the air dry in that space...

can anyone recc.omend a good dehumidifier> i need one for growrooms as ive started to see some mold, its been super humid up here as I live in a rainforest area.
I also have had problems drying buds(taking forever) now i cut all buds off stems and put them in boxes ive made with screened bottoms and run fans on them 24/7.Otherwise it would take like 3 weeks to dry the conventional way

Alright guys thanx for replies and definitely will consider buying a dehumidifier thanx for the link.

Unfortunately I had to use the oven, I used a meat fork to get the temps to around 130 and dried the bud pretty quick. I found mold in some of the buds and couldn't let it spread, only full proof method for me would be the oven anything else and I have to stress which I don't need.
For those who asked I was drying in my garage in a cavity that leads to under the house. I have a floorbox heater and it draws moisture in, so my buds were basically drying outside but completely dry.

Now Moldy, you ain't the only one dealing with high humidity levels.

I grow in the South, where you breathe air in and spit out water. It is almost always humid here except in the dead of winter. Right now it's not raining or cloudy and it's 62 % outside at Christmastime.

The OP has no money, and paper bag is best suggestion IMO.

p.s. Diamond, take your weed and put it in the house, not under the garage crawl space. Stick it in a closet in a paper bag next time. You need to find a better spot to dry in period.

It will take awhile at 80-100% humidity. Keep them hanging or on a screen and turn at least once a day. Im drying right now and my humidity is 50% 80f. I also use a space heater in my room. They dry nice at these levels. My curing is kinda slow. But thats good. Slow is good as long as you dont get mold as back country said. Humidity is going to go up in a bag especially if its closed.

I dry most of my buds in brown paper grocery bags.... It works really well.
After a few days in the paper bags, will be dry enough to jar and start curing....
good luck

Hello,
Do You Chop Then Bag Then Jar? Do You Hang At All?

Thank You

long hair the common way is to chop, hang until just dry on outside, break down to nuggs, put in paper bags to dry cure a little, then into jars to cure

I hang em a day or so, cut the buds off, put in paper bags, close. Open bags like curing jars several times a day.

When bud is dry put into jars and cure. It is not really necessary to hang buds at all if not convenient.

I find that even in 80-100% humidity, the paper bag will suck out the moisture in the buds and be done in a week or so.
