Colorado MMJ License ?'s

If you have nothing more than a doctor's recommendation you are not growing illegally according to a few Lawyers. But even with the state fee it is worth having the get out of jail free card. If you get caught with parephenelia or pot ONE TIME, the fine will be more than the cost of the doctor visit and license. And if you're growing in CO without at least a recommendation you're an absolute moron.

dunno...but at almost $600 for the first 4 years of paperwork not counting any meds, I'm staying illegal

$110 doctor
$90 annual state fee
$90 year 2
$90 year 3
$90 year 4
= $560

again...not counting any meds at all...just the paperwork
I'm outta here

Your numbers dont add up! You forgot to include your doctors fee for year 2, 3, 4, so then your total would be $890.00

Still way cheaper than lawyer fees, court costs, fines, drug testing, ect... Not to mention Colorado usually will take your drivers license for felony drug convictions, honestly speaking from personal experience, having my mmj rec at the time would have saved me a lot of bullshit.

Holy cow...You need a doctors recommendation every year???
Outrageous...besides, I have a friend that got his MMJ card.

Someone estimated that, once setup, energy, ferts, & seed only costs us $15 an ounce to grow

With MMJ, I've just saved $900 over the next four years and $2250 over the next ten :joint:

Most places don't charge as much for a renewal as for a first time recommendation.

people have been growing MJ in Colorado long before there were any amendments to the state constitution and will continue to grow unaffected with or without your blessings...

all anyone is saying is that it much cheaper to get the rec then it would be to get caught growing with out the rec. The small fee for the doc and the state si nothing compared to when the court system and the lawyers get a hold of someone. Not to mention the the hoops you have to jump thru once they place someone on probation. At least if you have a rec you stand a really good chance of not having anything happen to you at all. Just my .02 either way its gonna cost some money just depends on how much your willing to pay NOW or LATER.

Agreed. I would much rather pay $300 total than pay thousands for lawyers/court fees.

Says who? Nobody has a discounted price for renewals vs first time apps that I am aware of. Please enlighten me.

Cannamed did my renewal for $150 when they were charging $250 for licenses, now they only charge $100 for a renewal. They already had my med records from the 1st go round, I called and made an appt, I showed up and was back on the street about 15 minutes later with my new rec. This was back in May........ I hear they are busier now...

Did you hear about the cannamed raid that happend this summer? A bunch of people who ran the company were arrested for identity theft, money laundering, and selling cars that were bought with stolen identities. Do you know whats going on with them now? I definatly would not trust them with my personal info if they are under the same ownership...

I did hear about that and I was really pissed off. That was after I had done my renewal with them. I guess the FBI seized all patients and doctor records. Not cool. That said, I only had one record with them, my personal record with my spouse as my caregiver, so I would imgaine if looked at closely I would be about as small as fish as they would see. I actually heard that it was three employees who did it, not the guy who owns the place. That is why they are still in business. When I got my first Red Card they were one of a handful of places you could get one, which is why I was a patron of the place to begin with. I won't be back!

If people want to see prices for Dr.s Recs, and Renewals, Westword has like 5 or 6 pages of Dispensaries and Doctors, and they have some prices listed.

Yeah, that is why I didn't even consider going back to Cannamed this time. That, and those $50 bogus certificates they used to high pressure sell on people really pissed me off too. Douche bags.

nah...
I'm not faking an illness and getting all signed up with the state just to grow a couple of plants. ( ) That's a reason why the current system is being torn down...too many abusers

Good luck to real MMJ med takers, though

Is anyone operating a non-affiliated courier service to deliver meds in CO yet? Think there is a niche for this kind of service?

Of course, there are all kinds of delivery services. But everything outside the realm of dispensaries is going to be illegal in the next few months. Senator Romer is killing MMJ with a new bill that is going to get passed and only large dispensaries will survive. Not sure why people aren't freaking out about this on IC mag. But this 4,000 page bill is basically going to put me and everyone I know and respect in this industry out of a job. Almost feel sorry for all the people who recently moved out here to start profiting from mmj. Shut down...

Does anyone know why there is an exception allowing someone to grow 25 plants instead of 6? Not that I consider Craigslist an expert, but I saw this post about an "edibles license" that would also allow the growth of 25 plants?

The extra plant counts are under your affirmative defense. Meaning if you are caught with over six plants they will take the extra 19 but you have a possible defense in your court case.

There is no clear cut answer to this question. It's a total gray area and there are lots of case specific variables that will determine the outcome, i.e. city cops showing up at your house vs drug task force, what else they find, the general appearance of the grow area (if a cop came in your house would it look like you are a drug dealer with scales and baggies all over the place) are there guns or drugs on the premises, your demeanor, etc.

I have not heard of a situation where a person with a med card has had their plants taken in the last year. They are very afraid of the possible consequences they could face if your affirmative defense holds up, so they don't usually fuck around with plants. However they could take your loose cash, finished meds etc.

The additional plant count recommendation should be treated as an extra layer of protection and not full proof.
