yeah, i was pretty pissed about this when i heard about it... me and my family applied for welfare (insurance) and stuff, and it took forever and there was tons of paperwork and meetings with caseworkers and stuff... then these junkies go in and get foodstamps/cashassistance/stateinsurance because they're junkies. i also have a friend who broke up with his girlfriend, got into a car crash, and lost his job, all in the same month. He "had a nervous breakdown" (read:he slept all day) and then his sisters committed him. He was out a day later, but now he has foodstamps/cashassistance/medical ... wtf???

Food stamps and that is one thing.

You can live on social security disability. Think about that. There are dudes making decent money playing playstation all day long on the govt dimes because they can't face people.

Awesome.

yeah, i didn't even tell you half the stories around here (and i wont) ... its like rampant in my area... "What? did you say that i don't have to work? all i have to do is keep doing what i'm doing? sign me up!"

but yeah, some people that need it, sure go for it. But i firmly believe that everyone that recieves welfare/social security should be tested for illegal drugs...i know that this sucks for us pot heads, but its a necessary evil in my opinion

What if you legitimately have that disorder?

Just because 3 million people take advantage of that law does it mean we need to force someone onto the streets who actually suffers from the disorder?

Mr-B

I have a friend recently approved for SS DI because she has Bi polar and a few other things.
She worked for 27 years prior to getting approved. Her statement Say's she can get $850 month, that's it.
She worked for 27 years and is expected to live on $850 a month?
Worst yet, she lives in the Bay Area. A cracker box 1 bedroom apt rents for $1000 a month here.

The sad thing is junkies and illegals shouldn't ever get SS or government handouts, not ever!

Here in California, illegals get food stamps, assisted living and every little program the government has to offer, all they have to do is successfully evade deportation for 3 years or have a kid,

California's a joke. Every politician in the state should be hung up to dry as far as I'm concerned.

I throw up on a fairly regular basis when I try to hit the gym. Going in and walking out five minutes later with a mini panic attack is pretty common experience. It's ridiculous. If anybody has it I do. In my retail jobs I'd puke in the bathroom constantly, a ball of sweat looking like an idiot. And I'm telling ya bro, getting disability for that is bullshit.

It sucks. It's humiliating. It makes you feel like a weak piece of shit. But it's just another hurdle in life. You can get by with it, even if it's severe.

yeah, exactly, how dare me get insurance for my 3 kids under 2 years old. I didn't ask for insurance for myself, or food stamps, or cash assistance. But medical is something infants need. Why would a 23 year old with "bipolar disorder" who's higher than a kite (NOT smoking pot, but doing pills) at 7:30am in the welfare office need assistance? seriously?

I'll Drive if you get the rope. Its insane here, I have lived here for most of my life and the only thing besides weather that I like about the state is the fact that MMJ is legal here. Other than that its just a clear example of why the policy's of the left fail. Some would like to call it compassion, I call it bullshit.

I hear you that there should be nuance, but cmon now brother. If you're gonna take handouts for your family don't you think it's callin throwin stones in a glass house? I mean I know what you're saying, that it's not for you but for your kids, but really that makes it for you, because it's your family.

I ain't hatin' or judgin though, just shootin the shit. My 2 cents anyway.

well, if i wanted state insurance, i would almost ASSUME that they'd WANT to drug test me... i mean i know its like total blasphemy to talk about "PRO DRUG TESTING" on this forum, but seriously... my area has a huge opiate problem and lots of crackheads too (as i'm sure a lot of you have similar circumstances in your areas) ... and when my family gets denied for insurance TWICE, but yet these two fucking drug addicts in ICP shirts and chains and shit, and they're like fucking nodding off in the waiting room, then yeah, i guess i am throwing stones in a glass house, its fucking disgraceful.

the best part? me and my girlfriend PAY INTO social security and taxes...we're not junkies that stay home all day, we work! so really, we're sort of paying for our kids' insurance, we're not just looking for a complete handout so we can sit at home on our asses all day...but fuck it, i dont have to explain myself to you people

Cant we all just get along and agree that the system needs to accommodate people who actually need help vs people who don't? It makes it a lot easier that way, and we don't have to hate each other in the end

I think any type of government assistance should be temporary, whether it be for your children until they reach a certain age or any kind of psychological or physical limitation that prevents you from working in the same field as you were. Just because you are limited or suffer from whatever physical or psychological condition doesn't disqualify you from doing work all together. There are jobs that most of not all "disabled" people can do.

I see the "disability" assistance abused too much around here. Are there people who are truly "disabled", yeah, people like my brother who got his brain fried by the second round or mandatory vaccines. His brain functions like a baby, he likes playing with squeaky toys and shaking keys, but he has a full grown body 150lbs 6' tall. He can't walk on his own so he is in a wheelchair all day, he can't talk or do anything by himself, he has to have someone with him every waking minute or he will hurt himself. He wears a helmet all day and night so he doesn't give himself a concussion when he goes into seizures.

I'd say he qualifies as disabled.
