That is a big trellis you're filling in there! I'm curious about the headband...I've always thought the real deal was unobtainable...very tightly held norcal elite, no? What did you do, trade your first-born for it?

I smelled a jar of outdoor headband a couple of months ago. I was a good 15 feet away, but the instant the jar was opened, I was overcome with a wonderful aroma in the Sour D/Chem family, but different all right. And the nuggs...even though they were outdoor, they looked better than a lot of hydro nuggs I've seen...if you have that, you have a winner!

i heard all the same things about the headband, supposed to be the shit. i got some from greentrees when they first opened an just went on a quest after cuts since.

i have a friend up north who works for a guy that owns some dispensaries..anyway, the owners old school an knows everyone around the bay. i just smoked him out with some sour og, went on a hike in the woods an talked about buds..
next thing i know, hes tellin me he can get headband. : ) so thats about it... cost me a fun trip up north an about a quarter of meds : )
pretty stoked, im keepin 2 moms !

i was wondering.. do you think i'll have to frame the net ? im guessing it might have a bit of weight hlding it down...haha.

And a good back story too! I cannot see how you have the net secured...if you have it attached well, I bet that will be enough without a frame. The plants will support the weight ok, the trellis is just to keep it spread and even.

i have wooden 2X2's every 4 feet on both sides, the nets been stapled in with 1 inch staples..an theyre pretty sturdy,so from what you say.. im guessing im good : ) i'll be posting pics of this grow about every 10 days, so we will see what happens. hopefully some nice, legit headband nugs !

headband rocks...ohgee has a cut that is every bit the equal of ecsd or chem d..and very much a mix of the two actually..

Yeeeah! I love this thread. It is a way for us geographically challenged folks to keep up with the top notch shit you cats are blessed with.



I am on the hunt for experienced ChemD and ECSD growers. I need to verify that these cut I am running are in fact the real deal.

I have been running the Chem4 for about a year now and just started working with what a good friend claims to be the ECSD and ChemD. But info is scarce, and my ability to upload pics is no longer since I blew my USB ports.

THe questions I have are...

Do the ECSD and ChemD both have pretty much identical bud structure? I smell that CHemmy smell coming from the D but it chanches during mid bloom to an almost burnt rubber smell. The leaves shooting from the buds are of the rounded type on both cuts. And they want to curl upwards along the sides. Are these traits of the two?

It seems that the ECSD likes to stretch out a lot and the ChemD is floppy.

I cannot really tell the difference in the two. Both have almost an identical smell so far. But what really gets me is how similar they look. Both have huge calyxs. In your experience, do you see oversized calyxs on the D and ECSD?

Whatever is is that I am running, the buds are very pretty. Just like the pics of ECSD that I have seen. But the ChemD also looks this way. I am trying to figure out if my buddy might have accitcentally sent me something else.

Also, how do I get the most from these? I ran the first round of cuts through bloom but was not impressed. I mean, it was good, but I know that I can tweak a few things and get even more out of her. So, if anybody has some tips on hoiw to get that superior smell and such from these, please tell.


I know that whatever it is that I have must be at least related to the Chem since that chemmy smell is there. Wehn I bump one of the D plants in my bloom room, I can instantly smell that chemmy smell. Like mildew and feet or something.


I guess my main question is, do they look the same. Both of these cuts look almost identical. I really cannot tell the difference in them. (I have to look at the tags to see which is which).

I know that the cat who sent them to me would not sned me something that wasnt what is was supposed to be, but he could have been mis-lead too. So, I am looking to make it official so to speak.

Anybody have some side by side pics of ChemD and ECSD? I would love to see how they look compared to mine. Are both just masses of oversized calyxs?

Wow, calii! That is one dense mass of bio matter...and only 2 weeks into flower...are you going to finnish them all in that area, as arranged? Seems like you may possibly have to do some thinning out in there! But, wow, would that be a field of dreams!

SwampDank, your descriptions to seem to match the consensus, but I'm sure everybody is gonna chime in and want pictures to be sure...plus, when you said "I ran the first round of cuts through bloom but was not impressed" it kinda makes me question things. Maybe your tolerance is astronomical or something, but Sour D is nothing but impressive. First time smokers of it are usually taken aback to say the least. I know when I have the Sour D and 8 other choices in front of me, I keep going back to the Sour D over and over again...did you let them go a full 70? I guess its time to fix your busted 'pooter and get some pics up!

I have smoked a ton of different strains but this is my fist with any SD. I guess you guys need to see the budding plant to help me.

I will be back soon. Lemme see what I can do real quick. I might be able to get a decent pic with the camera phone uploaded.

I really do hope it is the real thing. I just wanted to see what the fuss is about. I love my 4 and keep her in constant rotation.
