Can I join in?

My last three grows were under a 600 HID, but for a good couple of years I was rocking the CFL's. I mostly used the 125 watters. The only way I found to get any sort of yield was to grow the plants around the bulb.

Due to the wife's paranoia, I'm returning back to them. The next grow will be 100% invisible!

I found a few blurry pics of my last CFL attempt. I've bodged them together for you to squint at. Hope they make sense...

The grow pictured above should've had four plants. 1 hermied big time so was removed! Ended up with a few seeds in the rest, but really wasn't bothered. Some of the greatest daytime smoke ever!

Nice grow man.

Cheers Ghostwolf. I've grown plenty with big CFL's, and in my experience this is the only way to get good yields out of them (without growing silly numbers of plants!). The grow before the one pictured was a flat scog. It yeilded 25% less than this attempt, yet had 4 plants. Different strain though, but am sure it made a big difference!

Just thought I'd share my experience with CFL's in here. Growing with 69w in a PC case...

Starting a new cab today so hopefully will be up and running in a few weeks. Need some advice, tight on money at the moment so thats the good thing about CFL's, they are cheap, but I was wondering what to go with... lots of 23w at a cost of 5 for £1 or 1-2 125-200w at about £20 per lamp?

CFL's have made what would have been dry times, high times for me. I was pleasantly surprised how much you can pull with these cheap little bastards when you use em' right. I just went with mainly walmart standard 23W (not cool white). I kept em' cranked down as close as I could to the plants throughout growth and some were literally in between the buds when it finished.

WOW ! seriously amazing grow from cfl's! how did you train those to get such nice cola's? those plants are all "tops" .

hey first time indoor grower just figuring out this cfl thing - small cabinet - 2 68/300watt warm whites and 3 23watt bright whites going. plants are tied down to maximize space, 3 weeks out of the ground now, slow growth lately, I think I stressed them when i repotted, added 4x the light and topped them all very close together. hopefully they bounce back with a little lovin' !
Those are my security guards!

I was tickled pink when I found this thread on this forum! I have fluorescents right now. But, have thought about going to CFLs. I couldn't find any place on any of the other forums that I belong to where I could ask any questions about the CFLs or fluorescents. Well, I could have asked questions. But, I would have rund a high risk of being heavily scoffed at or having my head bashed in by the Halide Heads and the Sodiumites (not Sodomites... Sodiumites)! I've even had a few of them tell me outright that MJ won't grow at all under fluorescent lights. Please.... :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon: I know you will never get a ton off of the fluoros. But, fluoros did exist long before any of the HID lights. And, pot was being grown under them!!!

I haven't had a chance to read all of this thread yet. But, given some time, I will. I just wish that the powers that be would consider making a subforum of the Micro Grow forum. It could be something like "CFL and Fluorescent Only Spoken Here." Does anyone think they'll ever do such? For new members like me, it sure would make specific information so much easier to find!

If any mods are watching this, please, please, please consider a subforum for this in the Microgrow forum!!

Anyone else out there who is interested in such, chime in and help me get their attention!!!

nah, you can go bigger with an edison fixture. 65w I think. Got a couple around the house.

42w is said by some dudes i read on some forum to be as big as you can get without losing efficiency.

Your right about the 65w's, though you can use adapters for the bigger bases.

padawan/maryjohn - I'm in the UK and the biggest I could find (reasonable size) was 23w or 25w (but they are ridiculously huge) thats why I was looking into 125 to 300w. Think I'll be going for the 300w as I have come into some money so can afford to splash out a little.

stolarz - Looking good for 92watts man!

How is the heat on the 65w compared to the 42w. My 42s get pretty hot. Ive heard of folks putting the big ones right in there with the plants. Even touching without burning. You cant do that with 42s
