What's new

strains you've "eliminated" from your garden this year

This is a great thread, especially since everyone started listing their reasons and keepers; far more valuble than individual smoke/grow reports IMO.

Of my limited experience:

Kalichakra-1 pheno was way too leafy, little trichomes, and bland smoke. The other pheno was a bit better: densest nugs I've grown and noticeably larger trichome heads. Problem was one or both phenos hermed, which is a deal breaker for me unless the smoke blows me away, which it didn't.

Kali Mist-Good smoke, but not good enough to justify the well over 100 day flowering time.

Current garden, not necessarily keepers yet:

Wally C99 - First time growing it. Looks promising considering it formed preflowers and frosted up the earliest I've ever seen, and fast finishing time is a trait I desire highly. Sweetest smelling plants in my garden @ 20 days flower, but can't recognize any pineapple or grapefruit smell yet in any of the 6 females, only a general tropical fruit smell.

Sadhu-2nd run-I plan to cull a pheno that has a general sweet smell, but another pheno has a nice pine/honey flavor that I like. Good growth characteristics: strong stems with little stretch. I know appearance shouldn't matter, but I liked the pine/honey pheno's golden colors after harvest.

hmmm i dumped 2 phenos of the bubblesour to strechy and way to long to bud... no more ATF, i will be eliminating the kush bc it grows way to tall in the aerojet, bubblelicous is done not potent enough... double strawberry diesel seeya later...

on a more positive note i will be doing 4 aerojet 8tray 8000w total 2 aerojets of ak47 1 of sour and 1 of chem x sour.

Recently Eliminated:
Mango, A great plant that finishes early and gets really sugary, but everybody has it in my area, next.
Big Bang, This was an unstable strain for me and I had some great phenos and some weak ones.
Cheese, Grew it tough for a solid year, good strain but time to make room.
Himalaya Gold, Smoke wasn't good enough to justify 10wk flower period, and stretched too much. Sativa dominant.
Haze #3, Beautiful plant, good smoke, but it got way too big and took 12 weeks to finish.

Recently added:
Chemdawg IX-III
Juliet (C99xNYCD)
OG Kush
Bubba Kush
Banana Kush

I've dropped AI and Master Kush. AI was too leafy. Just weird all a round. Master Kush. Still have a few seeds, but I couldn't get it to flower.

Added: Papaya and Bubbaliciuos. Ice. First run since the seed run last winter. Papaya is a 3 female seed run. Hopefully only one will have the seeds. Bubba was just started with last 2 seeds. Also added a new student. First student grew successfully. New student should do better.

The only strain ive dropped this year is my Blue Dream cut. It yeilded very well and was a vigorous cut. The reason I dropped it was because of the stretch and also the plant is a bit sensitive. For me she was a bitch to train and I learned quickly how much nutes she could take. Smell was great, frosty as well. I definitely liked it but was not impressed enough to keep it.

The only Strain I have dumped out of my garden on purpose was Dutchgrowns LUI13..ok in the yield and the bag appeal department.... But it had absolutely no flavor or potency.

The funny thing is, the last clone I had of her..decided to just give up genetically..it turned weird shapes and the leaves became 1 and 3 bladed..while the other strains were going fine.

Dutchgrown is a good breeder, and I am pleased with their service. I only had 4 females to go on..and it could have been poor growing or choice of pheno...so please do not read this as Dutchgrown is a poor breeder...because the opposite is true...
