What nutrients you use and mix I am currently planning my system as I just got my Canadia MMAR and am sold on bio buckets from all I can see they appear to be a rather easy setup to run for a new grower especially with there low maintenance and when done right zero rez changes. I have read a couple posts one by BigToke of course and he is reccomending 0-2-1veg and 0-2-3 for flower then petemoss suggest 0-8-16 for the whole grow with no change of nute strength. So just wondering what formula you use. And also how much nutes you go thru for that entire grow just trying to figure out my budget as I will be having to buy all nutes and supplies to last for 2 full grows of 4 months each not gonna grow in the summer cost to much in Central air

Awesome Got it so do you run your sytem without any rez change outs for the entire grow basically only adding nutes once a week ? Just wondering as I am considering going with lucas formula 0-8-16 but trying to see If i can figure out how its done without needing to change out the rez . Building that right now just a 15gall resvoir but puting a float init to self top straight from tap water as its used . And the one other thing I need to know is do you think that with a room temp of 76-78 if i have res in a different room that is around 70 degrees should my water temp stay cool enough? No cash for chiller. Well unless I buy one of those hydrotec coolers with no temp control just runs full blast non stop but not even sure if its effective.

cateros-I do change my rez out, so far this grow I have changed it once. First rez took me to the 2nd week of flower, which is when I change over to flower nutes. I will be changing her soon to a toned down flower mix, and again later to straight water.

I don't measure anything, I have used these nutrients for 3 years and there is no way to be sure how many gallons I actually have. If you are serious about using Lucas he suggest you addback 1/3 strength nutrients. As you can see by my ppm chart I go i do not start at full strength Lucas like he suggest, I start low and work my way up. I would suggest to you to start with rez changes every 2 weeks, get one under your belt and go form there.

I would say keeping your water cool wil be a problem. Even though your controller will be in a nice and cool room, the majority of your water will be in the warmer room most of the time. Aquashield will help, add that to your reservoir if you decide to go with no chiller. One thing to remeber about not haivng a chiller in RDWC is oxygen to the root zone is the name of the game. Besides water temps causing rot and other types of disease and growth, it is 100% responsible for the amount of dissolved oxygen available to your root zone. High temps=low oxygen oxygen=name of the game in RDWC. I have seen good results with no chiller in conditions less then perfect though, have a go at her and have fun and learn. Just sucks to get so far and then run into issues. Maybe look into the Do it yourself section here on IC about DIY chillers.

Oh okay cool will give it a go just wondering how many grows do you think 1gall flora micro and 2.5 gall flora bloom should last running with 45-60 gallons in the system? Like I said I have to stock up as where I am located it could take up to 2 weeks or more for me to get deliveries in. Ideally would like to figure out how much I would need to order to last 2 grows back to back over 8 months . That way I can order my nutes in bulk like a 2.5 and a 5 gal jug of each

hey pk, great job man, just wanna ask another couple questions please: have you grown with weekly res changes? or have you always gone with the change when needed feeding program? if youve done both, what is the difference if any with growth? much appreciated with whatever u can answer. thanks, d

Dominicangreen-thanks alot :)

technique-right on man 4 buckets will FILL that space in nicely!

Cateros-I am not sure how long those nutes will last, I use floranova bloom and grow. I can tell you however 1 gallon of floranova lasted me 2 grows in 60 gallons and I was using it for veg and flower.

dmt-thanks man, I have changed the reservoir religiously every 10-14 days before, I have also went a whole grow without changing at all. I found a happy medium for myself, and change at stages. Growth is insane in RDWC, I have not noticed a difference one way or the other, when in doubt flush it out! More frequent res changes are best until you really get a feeling how your kitty purs :)

How do you change out your water for this system? The way i did it was i put a pump in the controller and pumped the water out, but the it still leaves a inch of liquid in the buckets/ controller

Btw my clones all popped back up except one! i made my own ez cloner with a NFT timer 1 min on / 4 min off.
I cut the clones closest to the bottom of the plant. I use a little bit of clonex and tap water. I then balance the PH to 5.8 and wish for the best

dmt-no problem and your welcome :)

newhidden- Glad to hear they came back, mine always flop over for a day when they come out of a dome. I have only lost one from it and it was this time actually, but clones also got rushed in there. I use a 14 gallon wetvac, I fill it up then wheel it to the drain where I have a water pump setup ready to drain it out. You can put the end of the vac on the return lines and really get alot out. Never had a problem damagaing roots or anything. After this round I will be getting a new wet vac, a powerful commercial unit that comes built onto a lid for a 50 gallon drum. I will mount a water pump right inside the wetvac drum and have a nice long hose to work with :) Any future builds will have some sort of drain built in.

Thanks PK

Thanks PK

Thanks PK So now I know I know if I grab a 2.5 of micro and 5 of bloom then Ill be good as I am going to use the lucas formula from what I have read in another link should be able to use 0-8-16 for the entire grow veg and flower as I was reading a post form the site ask lucas and he advises 0-8-16 under HID lights. So now I know how much to grab to last me for a long time is there any good foliar sprays you would recommend for helping increase bud size and any good general use preventitive pest and disease sprays that arent going to leave any nasty after tastes. I know most people say read the labels and pick what you think is best but I would prefer to go with someones personal opinion from use as the stores where i buy from It seems they only products they reccomend are usually the most expensive or close to it ,in fact one salesman at the place has a habit of always recommending the second highest price product with a little spiel. Basically making you think he is showing you the best one that they get discount and he is doing ya a favour like he tried to direct me away from the GH product and to the DNF products for a 2.5 gal jug of gh micro and bloom cost is $220 for the same amount of the DNF its $330 and they arent able to recommend a mixing instruction that will allow me to match 0-8-16 of GH micro and bloom so its GH for me

Cateros-No prob :) I myself am not a fan of any type of foilar feeding, not that it doesn't have real benefits in my eyes, its just one more thing to go wrong. K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) is a good rule to live by for myself. I would say if you are feeding full strength Lucas you shouldn't need any foilar spray.

For preventitive sprays and pest control I keep a few hot shot no pest strips laying around. Thats it as far as preventitive, but I keep Einstein Neem Oil and Floramite on hand in case needed, also a sulfur burner on hand.
