But that's the problem. A lot of those growers in that show weren't "stoners" by any means, just straight greedy people that don't care about others around them.

They give a bad name to us decent "stoners".

Or professional growers who don't take care of the properties they rent give all the rest of stoners a bad name?

Very true Blue Dot it was a bit much like I said I could just imagine how bad it's gotten fuck 7 houses per block? I was shocked to find the trash of somebody's grow in my alley!! It was a dumpster behind a 4plex I suspected of growing cuz I could smell it when I walked by and was like shit that smells like my no carbon filter having bedroom hahah sure as shit I find 4' RW Cubes with stems in them and a coco mat filled with roots and tons of fan leaves hahaha I was like damn I knew they were growing! So if it's getting like this in Sacramento shit Arcata is probably 10 times worse. What sucks is that up north used to be about outdoor growers who would have a crop last the year or half the year and just grow a crop inside durring winter has turned into grow house city in my eyes. When you can list your house as grow friendly that is some shit right there. I still say Grow Tents and proper ventilation could solve this some what don't you think?

I hear what you're saying. I've worked in a few legit greenhouses and damn if humidity just doesn't wreck a place. The problem is after a certain number of plants the humidity in a house just becomes too overwhelming. Houses were never built for this kind of activity but for the people growing 92 "big" plants like in the show in many rooms hell the whole house would just have to be one big grow tent.

If they could only grow like 10 plants in a tent they wouldn't because they are greedy and want to grow as many as possible.

I just think it's criminal to destroy someones property for their own personal gain. How is that not a crime on the books anyway? it should be IMO.

it is a crime to destroy anothers property. that's why it is annoying that those people were whining about it when they should be suing the renters. they have recourse.

It is criminal to destroy someone's property-- Either take them to Court, or if they skip...there is this thing called "Homeowners Insurance"--
Next time...be careful who you rent to, and have periodic inspections--

^yeah what's up with renting in a "high risk" area and not having inspections?

I think the situation has escalated so quickly that a few years ago landlords never even considered this a possibility and it just snuck up and bit them on the ass.

I like how the guy in the show was saying PG&E should be partly responsible.

I totally feel you buddy I was apawled by the damaged those assholes left behind cuz I know how we left of duplex and you'd never known pot was grown it have respect and replace what you fuck up. But back to the tents haha I've always had a vision a a few tents in a room and all the humid hot air get pumped out from under the house have the duct work run all the way to the vents most houses have on the sides and make sure the air is blown away from the house??? Would that not work? Cuz I have a DR80 Secret Jardin tent coming to me in the next day or so and it's water proof and totally sealed. The reason I'm so stuck on this is cuz it would also stop the tearing out walls and ruining houses. Yea cats are greedy but if you can't pull pounds out of a few 7x7x7 tents when I get ounces out of a 2.5sqft space with CFLs!!! So if any one reading this owns a home up there I would force my tenant to use a tent if they wanted to grow indoor...

Yea PG&E is a HUGE part of the picture, but like dude said they are getting paid on the 1st in cash every month cuz NO grower wants to be late(my theory was always be late from time to time don't look like you're making a ton of money living in a duplex) on the power bill in fear of being shut off and fucking up a cycle I'd imagine. But yea I don't think the home owners that rent out property's ever thought this would happen like this. What does suck is that since there is so much money in it shitty drug dealers got into the scene and people the sell more than just pot and I think that's where the guns come into play also. But come on oh man they all have pit bulls!!! leave my dog outta this he's so assholes don't hurt me and my family...

yes, isn't that what I just said??

My point is that you can be a greedy person and still take care of someone's property. It is the respect for property that is lacking. Personally I think the homeowners should take the tenants to court. If you own more than a couple of houses I would just keep a lawyer on retainer. I used to work in the industry and I have seen what people do to houses. Thats right, lawyer up if you are going to buy rental property.

its the govts fault this is going on. what sucks is this is the example opponents will use to try and keep fla from getting MMJ.

there needs to be regulation preventing unsafe/destructive mmj grows. as stated previously, if a indoor grower has unsafe wiring then it should be shut down like every other business would be for violations.

Arcata sits right on the ocean. Those houses have as much rot working at them on the outside as they do on the inside. A big part of it is just the basic RH over there .. and of course the salt air speeds the whole process up.

I didn't see the program as particularly anti-marijuana. I thought it was presenting the negative impacts of having what are in effect commercial growing and distribution operations in the middle of residential areas. Most municipalities manage these kinds of issues through zoning, but MMJ cultivation and distribution seem to fall through the cracks.

As far as the absentee landlords whining about their properties being trashed, this could all be dealt with through lease agreements specifying no growing allowed, followed up with inspections. But it's just so easy to rent out the property for big bucks and turn your back on it...until your rental house is destroyed.

I also don't see this as PG&E's (or any other power company's) problem. The community has the tools to deal with this through zoning, ordinances and enforcement. And I'm not saying these things should try to prohibit legitimate MMJ growing...they should be focused on mitigating the impacts of commercial marijuana growing and distribution operations hiding behind MMJ protections.

Yeah it sucked, Paul and Dona can go fuck themselves, "oh my neighbor got robbed, oh I can smell weed, these growers are a menace!" Yeah, because other cities have 0 crime, just your neighborhood is special.

Also, rent going up because of growers? Also BS, rent is going up everywhere.

And that guy at the town hall meetings, man I wante dot punch that whiny bitch in the face "but but my neighbor is growing weed, I know because his METER is spinning like crazy!" The horror, his meter spins fast? WHO FUCKING CARES YOU DOUCHEBAG?

Sorry, I was just all pissed off. It was a fear campaign, nothing more.

I will say it was a little more balanced than I expected.

It came on the heals of obama declaring no more fed interference with med users, 215 growers, caregivers, dispensaries etc.......I do however feel like alot of growers who are growing outside of 215 guidelines are going to be up against hell in the next year out that way....until this shit gets turned around.....but I did notice a theme in the show that was basically saying, if the law changes and it is legalized the grow houses dissappear in large numbers......I don't really stand neither here nor there on the issue cause I know alot of emotions can run high but all in all it was not as negative as i had presumed.

Maybe it's time to create a grow warehouse, designed for indoor growing and rent out rooms. Like self storage but with weed.
These growers are disrespectful, hopefully the homeowners will be able to make an insurance claim. The last place I rented was cleaner when I left it, even spackled and painted the holes I had made for vents and water, I got my entire deposit back.

Oh, and that wide shot where they showed the town plaza? I went there with my girl once to buy hash, told her to sit with me and time how long before we are approached: Yep, 32 seconds. "You guys need anything?" I ROFLed!
