12/12 From Seed: A Different Way To Grow

400 watt hps, temps are around 80, water them whenever there isn't any water left in the soil, and i use an lc mix (sunshine mix 60%, 20% perlite, 20% worm castings.
they're on their 4th or 5th set of leaves.

genetics genetics genetics determine height / branchyness etc. if your plant has stopped growing but still looks healthy, leave it, it'll start growing again / or die and show you what the real problem is.

Hi oobnuker

contrary to popular belief, a blue light spectrum makes buds develop more healthy and solid. all my buds that are near my 85w daylight bulb and still getting HPS light are much better than other buds getting only 2700k light. A broader spectrum will most of the time give you better nuggage. many people add red and purple christmas lights to their setups as well as UV-B flouros. Your extra blue light will def increase your yeild slightly :)

Thanks for the advice, Oldbootz - I've done the same as oobnuker and for the same reasons. Good to know adding blue light it has benefits when plants are in flower as well.:)

Does anyone using the 12/12 method use their ladies for more than one harvest? Pick nugs but leave her going so that she will bloom again? I have looked at all of the pages in the past but vividly remember not seeing much if anything at all about people harvesting nugs but letting her go on like any other fruit tree.

re-vegging plants is a common way to keep a special plant around if havent kept back up clones earlier on. Some people like to reveg in order to flower and get more bud off the same plant but personally I prefer to just grow a new cut , revegging takes long time and is not always successful but it does work well with some strains. There is no difference in trying to reveg a normal plant vs a plant thats flowered from seed.

Hi to all the 12/12ers! I have been lurking for awhile now. (It takes DAYS to read just this thread) I have 6 seeds from a grow awhile back but they came from a plant that hermied on me. I have been reading that those seeds will all be hermies and then I read that they will be fine and then I read that they "might" hermie. Is there a poll for this question? Just wondering if I would be wasting my space and time on these or not. Thanks in advance!! BTW I'm a huge fan of this method lol It's the ONLY way I can grow and I also do it all with cfl's. I love those things!! (3)42 WW does wonders here! :wallbash:

They will almost certainly carry the genes to hermi but whether those genes are activated or not no one can really tell. What were the conditions under which the plant hermied? Light leaks? PH shift? Or did you just let them go too long and they hermied late in flower? If I were you and had reliable alternative I would just go with them rather than the hermie prone progeny.

Hi myco, as zenoonez indicates, the beans you have will most probably carry the hermi genes. If you are going to be growing out small numbers of these plants and dont plan to breed with them in the future, then i'd pop a couple, make sure to check them often in flower to see if they tossing out nanas. If the father hermie was hermied from stress then there is more chance that the progeny will not hermi.

Thanks for the quick answers! Much appreciated! I have a gap in my grow space and my clones are about a week old now and no bumps yet. So I was thinking of throwing these 6 in to fill the gaps so to speak. It was a female that got over watered and over-fed too. I guess she didn't like that much. The others were over-watered too but didn't hermie. I guess my impatience is starting to show again lol When all you have to work with is a sativa mom plant from bagseed I guess you never know what the history of the grow was that you got a hold of either. It wasn't that good a smoke anyway, the seeds I grew out were much better than the original thats for sure! I wish I could take a vote here lol who thinks I should wait for clones to root to fill gaps or pop some sucky beans that might or might not hermie? I don't know which to choose, I don't have the space for 7 clones and 6 beans. Maybe I could do the beans knowing it will be a little crowded at first but I will probly thin it back out when I find the boys? Also wondering with my setup currently how I could keep the lil seedlings like 2" away from the CFL's. The sativas are really close to touching them but no sign of burn. I'm watching it very carefully as I had a girl making out with the bulb and she never fully recovered. Sorry I talk a lot when I finally figure out what I want to say!!

its better to start out with more and cull the males and the runts, you'll see quite soon after sexing which ones you want to keep. clones going straight into 12/12 will generally be smaller than seed grown plants of the same genetics. good luck with your choices !

I would just use the clones to be honest. A single hermie in a well circulated micro could result in a whole lot of seeded bud. I would look into getting some quality genetics. I hate to recommend spending dough but I would take a look around and find what strain you would like to run and pick it up from a reputable seed bank. But until then, just go with the clones. If she hermied, that is not a genetic profile you want to keep running.

My tallest one was a clone lol I can't have it get any taller than they are lol And thats even in a 20oz cup! No pics as I'm embarrased of my two next ones ready to be chopped. I think i MIGHT get an eighth dried and thats both put together! If ya all wanna a good laugh check out my sig grow for more details! Typical newb grow I guess lol Iv'e been perusing seedbay for awhile now looking for some of them good deals just haven't got the extra $50 for them atm. So one vote for clones, and one vote for beans AND clones? But I also don't want hermies in a so far all female grow either. Hmmm any more votes out there?? Thanks guys!!

They seems to be heavily overfeed with nitrogen.

Btw, I'm running 12/12 right now with thai genetics.

sounds really nice, those things will get huge under 12/12 and you may also be able to multiple harvests, taking the ripe bud while the newer bud grows, thai is a very strange plant.

i did that for about two weeks i went down to 300 ppm ,,,,,,now im back up to 1080 and i thought they were looking better maybe i burned her up to bad already?
