metal halide GROW LIGHTS for FLOWERING CYCLE

i have a 600 wat hps on my babies now, but im wondering if i put the 2 extra 250 watt= 500 wats + the 600 = 1100 watts.... on my babie will that make a difference?

In heat yes im sure and in photosynthesis probably and maybe even in growth and resin production, but will a METAL HALIDE GROW LIGHT be good for my flowering cycle, or should i leave that for my veg?

thanks in advance guys!!!... and gals!

Yes, it is always good to have a full spectrum of light regardless of cycle. They will benefit from simply having more light, though the added blue spec. will be beneficial all on its own.

Personally, I prefer blue spec. *(that is because plants absorb it more efficiently) over red and I tend to have over all more blue. Of course I still have plenty of red spec. (in flower)

so i wonder if id be ok using the halide lights i had on my salt water aquarium, they are like 14k, really blue.

just 250 watts of it added to my 600 watt reddish hps light dont sound like a bad mix. i MAY add 1 of my 250s and see what it does as far as the heat issues go but it should be ok seeing as its the winter time

my metal halides wont have a cover on them so that may make a difference

id really like to get a few dif prospectives on this cause ive not really herd anyone talk much about using MH in the flowering stage at all, but im totally up for the method tho!!!

I use MH in my flower room and i have used MH only for flowering many times ,This was grown under MH only and i'd say it came out allright

Yeah I like em too, Eye Daylight blues in particular, but my quantum ballasts eat em up. Fewer overall lumens but they actually put out more blue, and more red than their Super HPS! BUds come out the same size etc but usually frostier than the HPS.

Anyone do a side by side test of hps vs mh of the same wattage? Might be interesting to see.

yea i might have to hook up my old 14 k bulb and see what she can do than cause i need more light for sure, plus winter is coming so im sure it wont get that damn hot if it does ill just crack a window and let the below 0 wind come in lol

any body know how to put in a bigger circuit breaker please, lol!!!

i live in a OLD ASS house!!!

zenoonez---in one of my first experiments of mh vs. hps
I had two rooms setup identical with 1k each over 5x5 flood & drain
the mh room was much superior to the hps---
mh room had more weight, bigger, tighter, tastier, very solid buds
hps room was light and fluffy, they streched more
we were running a very nice hindu kush
just my 2 cents-----------peace

WHAT THA HELL

so why is the hps so hyped about, dont understand that i mean what heppend for u might not be the same for me but i think i wanna try the same thing

cause my buds are kinda fluffy and not solid i think

im just gonna add a lil 250 watt 14k metal halide and see what happens, i just wish i had a lens to cover the sob, but i dont just a butterfly hood

dont know i guess ill give her a try this weekend

thanks for the help!!!

1 600w hps and 1 400w mh lamp vertical is def giving me superior resin production by far not to mention impressive yeilds for only 1k!~aliG~

MH is all i use. less stretch, more sticky, same weight, better density, so much nicer to work in the white light, and by far easier on the eyes. after an hour or so in the hps, my eyes hurt. not a problem in the MH. plus you get a tan workin in the MH's:woohoo:

OK, im convinced i really wanna try to add a metal halide lamp, i just gotta figure out how to do it, and where to add it cause my HPS light hood is HUGE!!!

maybe i can rig up a light fixture on the wall or something, or put a wing in there some how, damn yaw got me thinking now

SHIT, always more WORK!!!

You can get tubular T-15 Metal Halide lamps. They are no wider than a normal HPS lamp. A Growzilla reflector with a 600w HPS and 400w MH would be an amazing light to grow any plant under.

its because of the lumen output of the bulb and the distance lumens degrade

Ok, I guess I'm not used to having a height restriction in grows, but I usually try to factor in the lower lumens with hood placement anyway. I run my MH lights closer to the canopy by about 4 inches to compensate for the lower output, perhaps that's skewed my yields (they match.)

What do you think?
