Trimming my crop with the Twister Trimming Machine

H

One of the best things about running my trim scene with the machine is that it is a totally different vibe than a pay by the pound trim scene. There is no cherry picking, no throwing small buds in the shake, no competitiveness, they don't have to live in fear that I will come over to their bag and embarrass them by making them re-trim some of their herb. Everyone has to work together to make sure there is plenty of bud for the Twister. There is a real spirit of working together and community that I always felt the traditional trim scene lacked. I am having the best fall ever and everyone helping us agrees that it has been a pleasure. Everyone is getting compensated equally so there is no jealousy or animosity.
Here are some pics from today and also check my video section for new vids.

Tomorrow we run my other twister at the other spot. Lots of OG. I will try to get some pics and video.

The trims are all super nice, and I've watched videos of it in action and can tell it works wonderfully, but but $14,000 dollars and up for this?!

I understand the people that would need something like this usually have that kind of money, but seriously?
How much does it cost to source or manufacture those wheels? The motor? The frame? The cutting wheel/tube? I don't think it'd come anywhere near what they're asking, even including a 100% markup.

I was expecting the thing to be 5-7 grand at most.

Not to come into your thread complaining, and I know they're your friends and all, but I could buy a brand new car for 14,000 dollars

If you can build and sell one for 5-7k I am sure people will buy it. You also obviously have never needed to trim this much herb or you would be able to appreciate what trimming 6 lbs per hour really means. I know people that are trimming more than ten per hour with it. Have you ever trimmed several hundred pounds by hand? This machine would have to be $50,000 before I would have to reconsider buying it and then I would have just bought one instead of two. Look at the crappy machines on the market for just as much. I have owned the Tumbleweed and that was not worth the money that this one is. You got me real fired up. Please keep your comments out of my thread. My friends don't make the machine they just sell it. Until this came along we were all riding horses and now I have a model A. Does that make sense? You don't have a clue.

Another question for you if you don't mind? I read that you were pressure washing after every 2 hours or so of running time. Processing a strain with a lot of resin you were now washing the Twister down after about an hour and a half. Depending on the strain that makes complete sense to me and consider this information again helpful. I was wondering though do you pressure wash just the tube or do you wash the blades and the entire machine down as well?? Thanks

We wash the whole machine. Mostly blades, brush, shrouds, and tumbler. After a bit of practice we have it down to where we are pressure washed, pammed and back running in about five minutes.

I don't think he was being derogatory or insulting, I think he just had sticker shock man. I had the same reaction when I heard how much it cost, I just didn't type a response up :) Seriously, thats a lot of dough but I understand if you have that much stuff to process. BTW, you keep up with the pics and you might have a POTM nominee :) Really inspiring stuff man, amazing.

that sentence is the reason I just had to post my opinion here.. $50K? you actually have a spair 50K burinng a hole in your pocket? Lucky fucking you.

every month or so threads like this pop up on all the MJ sites advertising/praising some sky high priced trimming machine. While the idea behind the machine is cool, I have a real problem with the price.. But it doesnt affect me in the least as I would NEVER need one of these machines, nor would I ever even consider buying one. $15,000.00 for that? There is no way in this dimension that that thing costs over 5K to produce even if your getting one built at a time.Machining aluminum/steel is not rocket science. But obvioulsy, the high price tag is clearly aimed at drug dealers or "CO OP" growers ( ... ) who have more money than time ( or sense to be honest ). While the buds in the pics do look very very nicely manicured, I cant believe that ppl will honestly pay 14K for that machine. Unless its the people that have tons of undeclared, illegal cash laying around that they just do not know what to do with. And they are running out of room in the walls of there 10 bedroom home to hide there ill gotten currency.Im not hating, well ok, I guess I actually am, but to me, someone that lives month to month on a tiny disability check, vulgar displays of wealth makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Read the thread prop,no disrespect intended to anyone but its not a vulgar display of wealth, its just a guy satisfied with a labour saving device,if your cropping enough to justify the initial outlay then the pricetag is immaterial as its worth it being self-sufficient,your going to save that much on trimmers wages, accept the thread for what it is,a unique insight into yet another aspect of the cannabis scene, the pics are great, the words are interesting, everyone should calm down about the price,if you need one then your going to buy,if you dont then you wont :2cents:

dropping 50K on a trimming machine = vulgar display of wealth IMHO. Thats more than alot of houses cost.

Thanks Z, I guess I was a little burntout when I typed that. The original machine that these are all based off of costs $25,000, so $14k for a machine that does a better job is a steal. Sometimes I forget what a different reality I live in. Growing up in Humboldt is like being raised on another planet. The funny thing is this really is a small mom and pop operation compared to what really goes on around here. This medicine belongs to 1500 collective members. If I can bring my costs down to produce it for them I can get compensated less and and still make a fair living. This is a job and I just happen to be good at it and love what I am doing. People complain about high prices at the collectives, well I am trying to bring the prices down by saving myself some time and money. Hope this gives a little insight into my world.
If there are any pics you want to nominate for POTM and I didn't mention the strain, just ask.

Thanks 2up, I will try to ignore the haters and help the positive ICmagers that are here to learn and share. We pressure wash the inside and outside of the barrel while it is still in the machine and then we remove it and the shrouds to spray the blades. Here are some videos from the Twister manufacturer.

I will shoot some video of us pressure washing too.

Here is another Centurion knock off. The interesting thing about this one is the holes that he pulls the branch through to pop the buds off of the stem. Someone needs to make something like that that really works and doesn't damage the buds. It is hard to tell by the way the video is shot if that bud was already clipped wen it went into the machine. It still looks much leafier than my Twister buds.

Happens to all of us sometimes man, now the other kid that popped up just now, yea he is a hater so take him or leave him thats what he is here for. The ones I were thinking about for POTM were the ones with the cola with the mountains in the background but I think you could grab some better pics of her if she is still standing... a couple different angles maybe? Pull back and get a shot of her whole? Either way, a ton of sexiness going on in your pics man, keep it up. Just wondering did you get the pm I sent you. I only ask because I really can't remember if I actually sent it, my gf ended up in the emergency room yesterday and I honestly can't recall if I sent it or not. Anyways, keep up the good work and brush the haters off. If I could be anywhere doing anything other than being with Scarlett Johansson or Jessica Alba it would be in Cali growing dank ass top shelf nugs :) There is always next year!

Sorry to hear about your GF. I hope she is ok. Thanks for the input on the pics. I have been growing for years and never took a pic of any plants till this year. I am slowly learning and using a pretty cheep camera.
I did get your PM. I think growing serpentine plants to circumvent plant count numbers would not go over well with law enforcement should they come to your grow. They are not the most experienced gardeners and you would have a hard time convincing them that the multiple branches coming out of the ground are one plant. Plant count numbers are BS anyways. If you can align yourself with a collective that will go to bat for you, you can grow for as many members as they are willing to let you grow for them. I don't want to go into it too much. Basically the medicine belongs to the members and you are a paid employee of the collective. You get compensated fairly for your time, expenses and what not. It is a lot less than you would get on the black market but it is as legal as the current laws allow. Without years of experience and quality medicine it will be hard to find a collective that would want to hire you. There are plenty of illegal dispensaries, pot clubs, and collectives operating outside of the law and it would be a lot easier to get a gig with one of them but not safe or legal. Lots of people want to move here and get in on the gold rush and our jails are full of them so think it through.

Don't take this the wrong way, HL....but I sure would like a go at your mistress. :kissass:
I'm on day 8 of trimming duty. Sore back, neck, clipped fingers...bleary eyed...
Can you tell I'm envious?
Nice to hear that you avoided those damn cats.
Happy harvesting, brother. :canabis:

Other friends have also tried to have a few nights with my mistresses but I am not into swinging. I did have a few cats at one of my gardens but I have been pretty lucky. I have heard of a lot of my friends gardens being hit hard by them.
