DAY 33 (Flowering DAY 33/56)
23 :canabis: DAYS REMAINING UNTIL HARVEST
Avg Height: 4.25", Photoperiod On/Off: 12hrs/12hrs,
Temp In/Out/Res: 86F/81F/77F, Humidity: 41%,
Ph: 5.81, TDS: 540ppm @ 0.5 conversion.

-----------------------------------

Thought I'd do a little update before the month's end... :D It has been six days since the previous update and already I noticed some interesting features. The ladies are really frosting and fattening up quickly; they are definitely a lot frostier than the clones from the previous grow. :canabis: Also, I'm beginning to notice some amber colored hairs, which means the second stage of flowering (aggressive blooming) has begun. I'll add some koolbloom to the solution tomorrow at half strength in order to promote more bulking up; I might do a full res change before that though. :chin:

The ladies are really frosting and fattening up quickly.

They're all in seemingly perfect health... ;) I don't notice any new discolorations or burns; just some natural yellowing of a few older leaves. This comes at no surprise as the pH has been rock solid at 5.8 for the past several days. Guess all that expensive lemon juice concentrate paid off. :2cents:

picture.php

Onset of amber colored hairs indicates it's time to use a
more aggressive nutrient regimen.

Obviously, as sirsmokalot pointed out, It's apparent I have a salt and algue build-up issue; both seem to be only affecting the top layer of the ebb & flow though. I'm not really sure if it's something to get worried about or not (it wasn't a big problem in the last run :noway:), but I'll take the sir's advice and try to alleviate the issue.

I also noticed a few fungus gnats flying around in the cab... This wasn't a big issue in my previous setups as the higher wattage lights in those setups scorched those little guys dead. :hotbounce What do you think guys? Should I take action before they multiply? I dunno, they look kinda cute and harmless in there just flying around doing their thing, but then again, I wanna hear from you guys. :1help:

pontiac, good to see you as this is one of my favorite cab threads.:D The trich coverage is beautiful, like snow in the forrest. I just picked up some Kool Bloom liquid and powder. Will try this stuff with the next grow because current plants are in flush.

Even if you don't get significant vertical growth, the fact you're growing hydro and using bud boosters should really make a difference. Looks like you'll have 10 baseball (maybe softball?) sized colas to enjoy. In soil, I'd only yield close to what you have now.

Not sure what to do about the gnats. I've tried everything to get rid of em, only managing to keep numbers low. Looking good man, thanks for the update.

EDIT: REZDOG has a thread called "the recipe." In it he reveals his best results Kool Bloom schedule. I'm gonna read it a few times and see if I can understand well before doing it myself.

If you have any expert advice about this stuff, I'm all ears. Well, I'm all ears anyway, lol.

bengie187 - Keep doing your thing, bengie.

DiscoBiscuit - Glad you like this thread so much, cus I'm quite fond of your stuff. :canabis: I mean, damn! :D You wanna see some snow, check out some of your own stuff :biglaugh:
Yea, I noticed they're widening up more in order to make up for their short heights; we might just be playing baseball in 22 days :bat:
I wish I read your suggestion about Rez's koolbloom guide earlier because I already added the stuff to the res. :wallbash: I added dry koolbloom at half strength (about 3/4 tsp for the ~4 gallons of solution in the res); my guess is there is just under 100ppm of koolbloom in the res right now. I might add another 1/4 tsp before the week of flush. :chin:
My suggestion is it's better to add too little koolbloom than too much. This stuff can really !$@& up your babies if you over do it. :violin: I'm nearly certain that the 2 smaller clones from the last round died this way. :frown: Remember, koolbloom is an accessory nutrient; it isn't mandatory, so you won't harm your plants if you under do it. ;) Thanks for stopping by, buddy. :friends:

dewroc6 - Thanks for stopping by! :) Hope you watch this to the end.

Sounds like your pretty close to what REZ does. I think he added a few thoughts on how to use both liquid and powder for better results. Thanks for the tips, I've never used supps and would hate to burn down the house, lol.

Those are some frosty ladies. I am with you I vegged for 9 days, I think next run will be like 5 then top them. I have some pretty good light burn on mine.

How tall are those girls. Looks to me like about 6"? They look great brother.

DiscoBiscuit - Not too familiar with the liquid koolbloom; :chin: all I know is its recommended use is during the early stage of flowering. However, I think adding all that PK during early flowering may stress the plant out and cause it to stretch or burn. I like dry koolbloom because its recommended use is during the final stages of the plant's life, when stretching is at a complete halt and it's doing some last resort bulking up.
Anyway, I can't wait to see how it affects your already fat and juicy buds. :canabis: Just remember not to use too much; :noway: I can't stress this enough. :frown:

Asil - Meh, don't let a few burns get in your head. :nono: I just checked your thread and them aero buds look delicious! :yummy:
Next run, a shorter veg may prove better for you... It sure as hell did for me ;) 5 and a top sounds just about right; you could even do it straight 12/12 and end up with some delicious single-colas if you like (you have plenty of sites that'll make for a beautiful single cola canopy).
Last update, my girls had an average height of 4.25"; I expect them to finish around 5-6" or so. Thanks for stopping by!

Almost there.

I am always the advocate for using h2o2. It will alleviate not only the algae problem, but the fungus gnats as well. If it were me, I would mix up 30ml 3%/gal and water the cubes for a few days. Stuff helps other issues that could be existing at root level as well.
(shrug)

Looking good, keep up the good work!

hey man looking very neat and tidy in there. if thats the way you like it how about keeping the light regime the same but flowering 21 of those plants in there - i reckon you could fit 7x3 in there or something similar. s'pose it would up the plant count though if thats an issue...

very frosty looking now

ah yes and the kool bloom(dry is the most important) is gonna make a dramatic differance in the size, density, and i even think flavor!
great purchase!
i wish i would have tried earlier on in my endevours....
its funny now but after my first run with it i was blown away and felt foolish for all the other things i bought, and they were unnecc. mean while this 1 pk product (and few others like it) was the solution to achieving my goals, (along with sound practices of course) while being much easier to use than guanos(flushes easier and is soluable, no tea brewing, ph stable). barely use them at all and its pink i almost forgot... who doesnt like pink lol... actually i switched to a product called MOAB cause it has no dyes and is a bit stronger on the pk and less on the N and contains a lil b1 to help with the stress of introducing such growth promoting pk #s.
so far so good and using it like i would koolbloom per moab recc.d doses
i can see the differance i the last 6 days pontiac! lookin dank! get swole!

Pontiac, looking very nice! I am interested to see your dry results this run. I also can't wait for next run when your veg time is more dialed in...can you say 5x the yield haha

cheers

hoosierdaddy - Thanks for stopping by! I just added some H2O2 at double strength, hopefully that'll do the trick. :D

VerdantGreen - I thought about that once, but I realized I'd have to take away 1 or 2 plants because of the Ebb & Flow fittings, so I went with 5 x 2. I might give the 7 x 3 - 2 a shot next run, but I'm still in between that and sir's quick veg and top idea. :chin: I might have to flip a coin for it. :biglaugh: Thanks for stopping by!

SirSmokalot - ROFL :biglaugh: Yea koolbloom dry looks like pink koolade! I guess that's where GH derived the name from. :D I might give that mother of all blooms a shot one day... I like the fact that it doesn't look like something I mix with my milk in the morning. :) Thanks for checking in.

Raphael - Dry results should end up under 2oz, this strain is just not a good yielder, unfortunately. :frown: The reason I gave it a second run is because the smoke is so smooth and calming (at moderate doses of course).
In the mean time, I think it's about time that I popped some new beans. Maybe I'll pick one with yield in mind. :chin: Thanks for stopping by!

dewroc6 - Thanks dew! Updating right after this post.

hermanshooltz - Your order of 10 powdered donuts is coming right up! :yummy:

Doing a late night update since I rarely have free time during the day these days. :pointlaug Lights have been off for a few hours now, so temperatures obviously are a lot lower.

We're getting really close to harvest now; I can almost taste it! :canabis: These babies are very frosty from top to bottom... If I can quote DiscoBiscuit: It's "like snow in the forrest".

picture.php

Almost there... Just under 2 weeks left.

They also stink like hell! It's nothing too offensive to me, but it's unquestionably the funk of marijuana. :nono: After opening the cab for say, 15 minutes while checking on the plants, the entire room begins to stink. :yoinks: This means I have to work faster or work in short intervals in order to prevent odor from leaking out of the cab.

Their health is undoubtedly near perfect as expected. Even after adding koolbloom (yes, I can confirm it's pink, as SirSmokalot said :biglaugh:) a while back, they show no signs of burns or stress. In fact, it's quite the opposite! I recall raising the TDS to 620ppm shortly after the last update with some maxibloom and koolbloom at their half strength ratios. Shortly before this update, after topping off the res with fresh water, I noticed the concentration dropped to 425ppm, which means they're eating their asses off! I reraised the TDS to 580ppm with maxibloom and koolbloom again at their respective half strength proportions... I know they can handle a bit more, but I still wanna play it safe. Besides, flushing is right around the corner so I doubt raising the TDS any higher will do much... I dunno, maybe I'll just add a teenie bit more koolbloom tonight.

Well... :drum: Thanks for watching! :jump: See you next update. :kitty:
