man im glad i found this thread. i recently ran across a mini fridge that i just couldnt pass up. its 4.4 cubic feet but it has a seperate freezer compartment that i will either use for utilities or a mom/ clone room. anyways the question i have is this would a 200 watt cfl be the right light to go with? and would increaseing the wattage increase yeilds? i will be starting a thread this comeing week with sum pics of the fridge and the dimensions. any info on the matter will be greatly apreciated.

Hey guys - maybe I'm just bad at searching effectively, but I could not find this info so I'll just ask -

Which spectrums are good for which stage of growth? I'll have the plants under 3 different lighting conditions, one for veg, one for early flower and one for late flower. I'll be using PL-L's, and the only spectrums available seem to be 3000 3500 and 4100, either from Dulux at bulbman.com or phillips at 1000bulbs.com. Help!

actually that wud be 50w per cubic foot and some of that 4.4 cubic feet includes the freezer that has its own compartment so im guesing that the area is cut by a third. would this much wattage in such a small area create a heat problem? i plan on running two 41cfm or two 55cfm 115v axial fans each haveing its own scrubber and the intake being an 8"x8" darkroom vent.

This has been answered several times now but.....

You can use any of the three for all three stages of growth. The 3000K's will be the best for flower but you won't notice much difference (if any at all) by going with the 3500K or 4100K for the whole grow.

Here is that PL-C and adaptor

And here is the standard batten fixture available, seems to be australia wide

With a 48w Nelson bulb which is the only larger wattage bulb I've found in regular stores here.

Oops I should point out the second pic is nothing to do with pl-c by the way, it's just a regular CFL setup. :) I just realised how confusing that reads.

Gday scrubninja, those nelsons 48w CFL bulbs work pretty good (have been using em about a year) but have found that the bayonet caps are sometimes quite shit and will snap apart/off easily, but keep ur receipt and bunnings will gladly swap em, I take mine back when they burn out also and pick up some brand newies for free. :nanana:

Just wondering if anyone has tried to modify their cfl bulbs like shown in this one forum post *sorry i know its on another site, not sure if it was put over here* I came across it at work and bookmarked it, so that I could share it later. Here

Sneaky. I like your style! I've only ever used the Natural spectrum (5000k) but never had an issue with the caps myself. Once one stopped working soon after buying it, and another one of them changed spectrum to nearly warm white! :yoinks: I had one of the 28w Nelsons start to turn on and off randomly.

Yo Tariq, have a search for a user here called ripog and he has a really nice PC where he did something very similar. I started doing it like Rip, but changed plans so never got to actually plug it in.

Hello there all growers, here are a couple of pictures of some CFL buds, first one is a group shot of the girls in the cab, and then out. Grown 12/12 from seed, all been harvested, revegged for a month and are now back in 12/12.

That huge sativa cola is impressive! Love the vert CFL and that bud. I have a 1000hps just sitting unused(no space to use it!) but this gives me hope for my little CFL babies just starting to flower. Keep up the good work all.

if you mount this cfl or any cfl vertical all the heat from the cfl rises and hits the ballast and the ballast makes a bit of heat by itself and this together make the bulbs not last long..it has even made some cfl's burn right out..to much heat.

but if you mount horizontal the heat can excape from the bulb and the ballast.. the 65w cfl was very hot vertical..i mounted today the other way and its not nearly as bad + the unit itself is much cooler and it dont feel like a heat overload
