I was hoping to do some experimenting with that sort of stuff. I'll be getting a freshwater one. What size is your tank, Aero?

Some questions...

Some questions...

Aero, I'm almost done planning my micro box out (not sure if it's going in my PC case, or an old bass amp cab that I have in the basement...) and I have just a couple questions about your aero setup...I just can't picture in my head how you have the tubing rigged up in the cracker boxes? Could you draw me a ghetto sketch real quick as to the details in how all the tubing and sprayers are rigged up? I would REALLY appreciate this! Also, since I might have the room, I'm thinking of using a 70-150 watt HPS if I go the bass amp route, which is most likely since the size is like two and a half pc cases next to each other...anybody have experience as to how much heat these typically produce (microRU maybe? ;o)? I'll be able to rig up a "cool tube" kind of set up and cool it with PC fans, right? I'd LOVE to fit a 150 in there and really get things flowering! :joint: It's actually cheaper for me to grab a small HPS than it is to buy the Workhorse flouro ballast and rig it up with 3 x 55w's like you have have! Although I also thought about copying your lighting setup and doubling it for a total of 6 of those flouros in there! However, that's REALLY pushing my budget and I'm looking for cheap here on my first run here...anyhow, thanks a million again and I can't wait to see more pictures here from you!!! ;o) You are SUPER inspiring man! :woohoo:

Chr0nicles, I'm not much of an artist so I'll try to get some pictures of how I ran the sprayers. I'll try to describe it first and see if it helps. Where the cracker boxes sit end to end, there is a T fitting. So we have 3 ends on the T, one end goes into each cracker box, and the third end points down to the sump. The fittings I used are sold at Home depot and are made for installing R/O systems. These fittings use O rings and can be connected and removed as many times as you like. I use Rainbird spray jets and drill them out to 1/16" and install them into the plastic tubing. To seal off the ends of the sprayers, I heat them up and crimp them with pliers. I use the 1/4" fittings and lines.

As far as lighting goes, I have run 150w HPS in small cabs before and they are much harder to cool than 165w of CFL. I don't think HID lighting is the way to go unless you have a tall cab like 3' or so. Working with 24" or less, I would try 2X70w HPS if you are going that route. Micro RU would be the one to seek advice from regarding HID's in small spaces his talents are impressive.

Yes, I have has success with protein skimmer teas in the past. I am not using this with my current grow mainly because of the small size of the sump supporting large plant mass. I don't have any fresh water tanks and I'm not sure I want salt water in my res..

Oh yeah, I should've realised. Nemo lurks the ocean! :lurk:

That lighter pic especially is so epic

Do you do anything fancy for the flush or just water?

Aero, mind telling me where you got your light fixture (The black thing :) ) did you wire it yourself and if you did was it hard? i.e am i going to be able to do it with very little elec experience without killing myself?

Nice growing dude, I only just found this thread.. read through it and was going to make a couple of suggestions, but as the thread went on you've made various tweaks to improve things anyhow!

I put a little molasses in R/O water for the flush.

I got it from my local fish store for $60 I think, it's 2X18w HO and works great for rooting clones. It's made by Current USA and can be found online for cheaper than I paid at the store. T5's are pretty easy to wire I see no reason you couldn't build your own. The PL-L's are even easier to wire because all of the wires are on the same side rather than t5's being wired from each end.

Thanks McSnappler, yes this forum has been very helpful, many here have been a great help especially since this is my first scrog. This grow would not have gone as well without this excellent forum.

I decided to begin flush today so I changed out my res with plain R/O water, ran it for a couple hours and changed it out again with R/O water a 2 tsp of molasses. The nice thing about flushing with molasses is that I can flush an extra week if my timing is off. The plan now is to flush 2 weeks and see what they look like.

ITS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!

Yes, looks like I made it, thanks for sticking around for the whole show, and the good advice as well.

It's now time to begin modding the aero case for the next run.
The sump will be rebuilt to a 3 gallon capacity and a higher pressure water pump will be added. I found this cool little radiator powered by a 120mm PC fan that will hopefully keep the sump to ambient room temps. It has run a little warmer than I would like for this run and a 5F drop should be a big help.

Great set up. I've really taken some ideas from your grow that I'll implement. I'd like to discuss this further but your PM is disabled. Cheers anyhow.

Hey Texsativa, I have been getting PM's from others. I just checked and I don't see anywhere my PM's are disabled, Try again perhaps?
