How do you clean your pipe?

believe me, I've tried boiling water and rice.

I would pour pots of boiling water to heat the glass up and then shake with rice and boiling water, didn't do it for me.

Whats with you vendetta against the alcohol. I clean my bong/diffuser/bowl after i use it every time and a bottle of 99 lasts me quite a while. after you rinse with cold water there is not even a hint of alcohol.

Had this nasty girl up in the crib. Smoked out of the bowl. Smooth is a germiphobe. I have to wear a bracelet. :D 91% isopropyl alcohol soaked overnight. Cold water rinse. Oven on 150f for an hour. Not spotless but at least sanitary.

I cleaned my pipe a week or 2 ago
I got a big jar, like one to cure your herb,

put my pipe (sherlock)
filled it with Iso
put some salt, and stirred, let it go for 3 days

should have shaked, and put more salt

it did the job, but it wasn't without a trace of resin

a pipe get's dirty fast, oh well, at least we can clean them,
get's the nice taste back

I use a glass cleaner that you can find in most grocery stores called "Greased Lightning". It's odorless, and extremely powerful, without being abrasive.

Peace :joint:

Any commercial 'pipe-cleaner' product will be overpriced. It's recommended that one not use boiling water to clean their glass pieces. Nothing works as well as generic 99% iso (not the 91%, or less); just try to use as little as possible (<200ml) before flushing it. Iso and rice are the shit. Add less than 100ml and a small handful of uncooked rice to your glass (glass only; no acrylic/plastic, iso will react and damage acrylic) piece, plug the downstem-hole (paper-towel, or, an actual 'gong' plug), cover the top (taut sandwich bag), shake well for a minute, dump, repeat with a very small amount of fresh iso/rice, dump, rinse with clean water...done; sparkling clean glass. Downstems and bowls go in a freezer-bag with a small amount of iso, rinse, repeat, rinse; done. As far as the lime-stain, scale-like residue that everyone will encounter in their glass; use a small amount of full-strength, plain white vinegar. It will lift those lime-stains in a couple of minutes flat.

i just fill a tupper ware container with 91% isopropyl alcohol put all my glass pipes (except one of course which i need untill they r clean) and glass stems into it and let it soak for a day or two maybe, even a week. Then rinse with hot water and about 99% of the glass will be clean. Then go back with a q tip for the rest

i soak it in acetone
:yeahthats

Don't know why its not mentioned more often.... inexpensive, easy to find, efficient, minimal shaking, removes resin stains, won't harm rubber or silicon stoppers/valves.

Works for all glassware units: pipes, water hitters, bongs....

Don't need rice, salt, limestone, or any other abrasive with acetone...gets into all the nooks and crannies.

Washes away clean as a whistle!

Same concept as iso, but better results! Try it... you won't be disappointed.
:chin:

Anyone paying for commercial 420 glass cleaner is getting ripped off!

Any hardware store.... usually in the painting section.

I recommend getting a box of cheap latex surgical gloves to use with acetone (or any solvent including iso for that matter). They're handy for use around the house and great when working on grimy car engines!

Pour it in, cover the holes, give it a little shake, and Bob's yer Uncle!

WARNING! Do not use near open flame or heat source, extremely flammable!

Please correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the human body absorb acetone through the skin? Depositing in your blood stream and liver? :yoinks:

if you're afraid of "chemicals" use everclear... (ethyl alcohol)

Does acetone or high % like 80-99% alcohol really work? My friend has a dirty ass beaker bong with little nooks and crannies and I'd like to see if it really just lifts the shit off.

A good cleaning tip for plastic is to soak it in Olive oil overnight and wipe clean.

yea DO NOT USE ACETONE ON ANY ACRYLLIC PIECE!!
or let it touch any rubber or any plastic that it might melt *rubber seals on bottles are the biggest problem though, most plastic is just fine

and acetone really isnt that bad for you. but gloves are a good idea (also if you touch the acetone that the pie was soakin in with your bare hands your hands will reek just like if there was pipe resin all over

ime acetone is prob the best, still easily available solvent. its so much stronger at eatin through the pipe resin that iso is, nto that iso and agitation doesnt work
