It has always been my philosophy to not worry myself about quantity when growing with low wattage lights, but rather worry more about the quality of the buds that are grown.

If quantity is of concern, then a 150 is not what should be used.
Take the pics that PiffGuru provided us with...those buds would be double or more the size iof they were under a 1000watt light, but as is they look very nice and healthy, and I am certain they were/are great tasting buds that do a nice job.

Think of the 150 as a connoisseurs light.

Tha 150w is definitely not what you should be using if you want some serious yields... Guaranteed that you will get more with more wattage...

But there is always the Pheno factor... My last grow with the same strain I got bout 1.5oz off of one plant... Yet the plant right next to it with the same everything was less than 1oz..

This grow im pretty sure that I will not get tha 1.5oz on 1 plant.. Even tho I am still dialing in the system and the quality will go up.. Certain plants just grow bigger faster without any noticeable reason to me..

im not worried about quantity i was just intrested in what to expect thats all. i mean obviously they wouldn't grow near as well as a 1000 watt hps but seeing that a lighting bill would be huge thats why i went with a 150 hps. Quality is definatly what im looking for as well but i would like to be able to gauge my yeild as well. Thanks for actually answering my question piffguru, i appreciate it.

so, i'm not really experienced in indoor growing, i had only 2 cabinets whit a 70w hps. now i think that it's time for an upgrade! and i think to build up a totally stealth (noise, light, odor ) 150 hps cab, and i need some advise.
first question: what are the ideal dimension for a 150w? my maximum depth is 30 cm.
also i have started to project the cooler... i think to build up a saled reflector whit 2 90 mm pc fans sucking on it.
teel me what did you 150 watts guy think!!

The rule of thumb is to try and get 50w per sq ft, but 40 will do. That means the max footprint should be 3 sq ft. Your max is 30cm depth is ~ 13.5 in so your cab should be around 2 ft (52.8 cm) in width. That will yeild max for your light.

Good luck with your build, and congrats on stepping up! :joint:

QUESTION: I have a cab that I am building and want to use a 150HPS. The dimensions are 23"hx23"w x 12"deep. Would buying a 150w be overkill/too much heat?

I'm going to have a 110cfm fan pushing through a carbon filter and one 30cfm for intake, along with a 30 cfm inside the cab.

Would a 70w with more CFLs be the better choice?

Thanks peoples for your opinions!!!!

godzilla, attach to the metal that holds the socket (looks like that is what you have)
And you probably know the other end screws to the ballast housing.

my 150 watt light will be here by the end of the week. it's for a box that is 2x2x3.5. i will post some pics when everything is set up. any one of you guys think i should put tubes on the side of the box for extra light?
