Wow! Good stuff, got turned onto it by my neighbor. Basically it explains why as Americans, we are basically made out of Corn! Lots of it!

I already knew about alot of the stuff they covered in the film, but it does a good job of tying the whole thing together, all the ways from the Corn belt of the mid-west, to our dinner tables.

Anyone interesting in seeing where our food comes from, and why should take a look, youtube has the whole thing in 10 installments, check it out.

But anyone else here who has seen this?

Just because you owned slaves on a cotton farm doesn't mean you know where food comes from.

med_breeder and T. Baggins- Go to you tube, and look up King Corn(the film is named King Korn with a K, but the best version on there is spelled with a C), it comes in 10 parts, listed a King Korn 1/10, 2/10, 3/10 and so forth. I would post up a link, but it seems like I remember them outlawing you tube links here.............the point of the film is not so much to show where food comes from, but to show how high a percentage of our diet is based on a certain kind of Corn, really opens your eyes to the true quality of the food we eat.

madrecinco and dongle69- Why do you think its OK to go posting a bunch of useless posts in another guys thread? Go some where else for your useless, uninteresting chat, thankyou.

Fast food nation by Eric Schlosser is great. It explains where the fast food comes from and how it arrives at your flashy outlet. Very cool reading.

Ive actually seen the movie.

its a pretty damn good documentary by two pretty geeky dudes...

we use so much corn its disgusting... the funniest thing about it is the gov subsidizes the hell outta that shit...

i watched this movie a while back, maybe even couple years.. but i remember these cats rented 1 acre of land and farmed corn on it... when they went to re-sell it, they made like 28 bucks or something ridiculously low...

also, the thing that stood out most to me what they talked about is cattle. Cattle that graze fields and eat the grasses, typically have lower fat content and less health issues (more costly because of low fat/better quality) then the cattle that are corn fed. Corn fed cattle get bulkier, but have more fat, and more health issues... they have a very short life span... anyways, these corn fed cows bulk up alot and the large fast food chains buy these things animals up like crazy... why? because of the weight! They want to get the best "bang for their buck." So they buy these bulked up, unhealthy cattle when they are near the end of their life, or when the cows start showing tumors (which are VERY common in cattle that feed on government corn) and they chop them up, throw some doctored up chemicals in, and form that meat into patties, AKA HAMBURGERS.... corn is in fucking everything... take a look at your ingredient labels- even your poweraide has corn in it... the "fast food eater" generation sure is in for some health problems down the line... mark my words

guess who controls corn? THE GOVERNMENT!

theres alotta interesting shit in that movie... i rec'n yall checkitout

Its just amazing all the back story behind it all, how industrialized our food supply really is.

Diabetes is on the rise from all the Corn syrup we consume, and our Cardiovascular systems are clogged from eating too much fatty feedlot beef, which is fed on corn.

We are made out of Corn! And not the good corn many of our great-grandfathers grew decades ago, but a Corn that has been bred to grow big and bountiful, at the cost of being void of nutrients, bred to make large quantities of starch, which is used to fatten cattle and make sugar, and this is what we are made of, cheap sugar.

But we get what we pay for, when you pay for garbage, thats what you get! Cheep food is not a good thing.

This film just reinforced my drive to grow my own food, even if its hard work, better than being a Corn man.

TypeII diabetis is on the rise in teens now. It used to be only seen in over 40 overweight adults. We watch my grandchildrens consumption of sugars. I want to teach them to eat healthy early.

True, cows that are feed nothing but corn have all kinds of health problems. Something like 70-80% of all antibiotics manufactured in the US are actually fed to cows to keep them healthy when they are feed nothing but corn.

In the documentary I saw they actually had a huge hole in a cows stomach (one of them) so they could study it. The just had a stopper of some kind to plug it. Soda companies are the biggest consumers of corn products.

I don’t practice what I preach but we should really be buying locally from local growers and farmers but people including myself see it as more expensive which is backwards.

. The thing many people don’t understand is that we, the American people subsidize corn growing and that’s what makes it so cheep. Otherwise all the food companies wouldn’t be using it. In the long run our food really isn’t cheap its all government (you and I) subsidized so we pay for it any way you look at it.
